The etiology of reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome(RPLS)is more complex.Its pathogenesis has a lot of controversies,and its clinical manifestations are headache, nausea,vomiting,epileptic seizure,consciousness disturbance and visual abnormality.Neuroim- aging examinations have shown that diffuse symmetrical white matter edema is predominantly in the bilateral posterior brain regions.Clinical symptoms and neuroimaging changes can be recov- ered completely after timely and effective treatment.If the treatment is delayed,it may compli- cate with cerebral infarction or hemorrhage,and lead to irreversible damage.

The traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theory of "treating heart and brain diseases with same methods (Nao Xin Tong Zhi: NXTZ)" has great significance to the treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. It has been proven effective by a great deal of clinical researches. However, the underlying mechanism for this theory is still unclear. To provide insights into the potential mechanism of "NXTZ", this study attempts to deeply investigate the mechanism from two representative cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, coronary heart disease (CHD) and cerebral apoplexy. First, various data resources were integrated to obtain different types of biomedical entities including drugs, targets, pathways and diseases. Then, three different approaches including text mining, biological network and enrichment analysis were utilized to recognize the potential common features between CHD and cerebral apoplexy, and the corresponding functions of drugs which could treat both diseases, thus unveiling the mechanism of NXTZ.

Objective To investigate the effect of individual nostalgia therapy on positive feelings and sadness of the spouses of postoperative patients with esophageal cancer. Method From June 2014 to June 2015, 60 hospitalized patients and their 60 spouses were set as control group. Routine health education and guidance were conducted once or two times a week for 7 weeks. Another 60 cases of hospitalized patients and their 60 spouses during July 2015 and June 2016 were set up as observation group. The patients were treated with the same nursing intervention as in the control group, and their spouses were subjected to individual nostalgia treatment once a week for 7 weeks. Before the intervention (postoperative day 2) and 7 weeks after the intervention, the positive aspects of caregiving (PAC) and the Margit-Meuser caregiver grief ineventary short form (MM-CGI-SF) were used to investigate their positive feelings and sadness. Result The score on spouse's positive feelings in the observation group after intervention was significantly higher than those of the control group and that of the observation before intervention (P < 0.01). Conclusion Individual nostalgia can effectively improve the feelings of the spouses of esophageal cancer patients and reduce their grief.

Streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats were treated with GSH for 12 weeks.The results showed that GSH significantly improved the expressions of NF-KB and inducible nitrie oxide synthase and ameliorated the myocardial tissue injury.

Objective To assess alternations in left ventricular volume and systolic synchrony in patients with frequent premature ventricular complexes(PVCs) from the right ventricular outflow tract(RVOT).Methods Twenty-nine patients with frequent isolated PVCs from RVOT were included and 30 healthy subjects as control.Instantaneous full-volume imaging(IFI) was performed to evaluate left ventricle volumetric parameters,including end-systolic volume (ESV),end-diastolic volume (EDV),stroke volume (SV),ejection fraction (EF),and systolic synchrony parameters,including systolic dyssynchrony index (SDI),dispersion end-systole (DISPES),mean end-systolic time (MES),pre-contraction time volume (PreContr) and post-contraction time volume (PostContr).Contraction front mapping was performed to visualize volumetric contraction sequence.All values of patients with PVCs were recorded during sinus beats (PVC-S) and premature ventricular beats (PVC-V) respectively.Results Significant differences were observed in left ventricular systolic volumetric and synchrony parameters between PVC-V and control subjects (P＜0.01),as well as in MES and PreContr between PVC-S and control subjects (P＜0.01).Conclusions Left ventricular systolic dysynchrony was demonstrated in patients with PVCs from RVOT.IFI was a novel tool to analyze left ventricular global and regional volumetric alternations.

Objective To assess longitudinal segmental myocardial strain and displacement of left ventricle (LV) in patients with dual chamber pacing (DDD) using velocity vector imaging (VVI) and to explore the clinical application value of VVI in assessing left ventricular motion.Methods A total of 23 patients before and after DDD pacemaker implantation were enrolled in this study.The peak systolic strain and displacement of ventricular segments were measured with VVI and compared before and after pacemaker implantation.Results Compared to the values at the baseline,the strain and displacement of lateral,interventricular septum,anterior and posterior wall of LV in patients with pacing were significantly decreased.The strain,displacement of basal and mid segments with pacing were decreased as well(P＜0.01).The left ventricular strain and displacement in patients with pacing were significantly decreased than those of patients at the baseline(P＜0.05).Left ventricular longitudinal displacement before and after DDD pacing was significantly decreased from basal,mid to apical segments.But no significant difference was found in longitudinal strain from basal,mid to apical segments of LV.Conclusions (1) Left ventricular strain and displacement in patients with pacing were different between those before and after DDD pacing.(2) VVI can accurately assess left ventricular strain and displacement in patients with DDD pacing,and can become a powerful mean to assess the regional myocardial function.

Objective To analyze safety,efficacy and resection methods of video-assisted thoracic surgery(VATS) for the treatment of intralobar pulmonary sequestration(IPS).Methods Data of 17 patients who were diagnosed as IPS and received VATS from December 2006 to September 2011 were retrospectively analyzed.The patients were 7 males and 10 females with the mean age of 40.3 (14-61) years.Diagnosis was confirmed in 9 patients by enhanced CT and unconfirmed in 8 patients.Three ports were used for surgery.After the aberrant artery was confirmed,liner stapler was used in 16 patients to cut it and Hem-o-lok was used in 1 patient because the aberrant artery was about 3 mm in diameter and long enough.If the diameter of the aberrant artery was longer than 10 mm,a stapling device without knife was used to occlude it centrally and a second stapling device was used to cut it peripherally.Wedge resection or lobectomy was performed due to the different conditions.When the lesion was small with linited range in CT image and the lesion was easily distinguished from normal lung tissue during operation,wedge resection was preferred.Results Seventeen patients underwent VATS successfully without any conversion to thoracotomy or any serious complications.Five patients were planned to receive wedge resection and one was converted to lobectomy.Another 12 patients were planned to receive lobectomy and all succeeded.The mean operating time was 128 (80-170)min.The mean blood loss was 80 (5-200) ml.The mean days of chest tube maintained were 4.0 (2-6) days.The mean postoperative hospitalization days were 7.6 (4-11) days.All patients were diagnosed as IPS according to operating in-sight and postoperative pathology.There was no patient suffering from chronic cough,bloody sputum or recurrent pneumonia during the follow-up.Conclusion VATS for the treatment of IPS is safe and feasible.If conditions permit,wedge resection or segmentectomy may be preferred.

AlM: To introduce a new color pediatric visual acuity chart and its clinical application.
METHODS:The color pediatric visual acuity chart was designed based on principle of visual angle. The optotype on the color chart had graphics. The progression rate of optotype size between 2 lines was 10 10 and 1. 2589. A regular geometric progression of optotype sizes and distribution was employed to arrange 8 lines with 11 optotype on the color chart. The testing distance was 3m. The visual acuity score could be recorded as logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution notation or decimal notation. The reliability of naked distant measurements with this new chart was tested in one eye of 100 children (4 ~ 6 years old) taking the Chinese national standard logarithm visual acuity chart standard.
RESULTS: The color pediatric visual acuity chart and logarithmic chart controls, visual acuity test results that in the two groups had no significant difference (t=1. 2671, P> 0. 05 ). Two sets of vision data existed positive correlation (r= 0. 924, P<0. 01). Cooperation rate was 100%, the recognition rate was more than 90%.
CONCLUSlON:Children are easier to accept used new color pediatric visual acuity chart to inspect vision. New chart is reliability and apply to children's vision screening.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the clinical outcomes of improvement technique of double Endobutton plate for the treatment of Tossy III acromioclavicular joint dislocation.

METHODSFrom June 2008 to June 2009, 18 patients with Tossy III acromioclavicular joint dislocation were treated with improvement technique of double Endobutton plate. There were 11 males and 7 females, with an average age of 35 years old ranging from 28 to 55 years. The time from injury to operation was 2 to 5 days (means 3.5 days). All patients were followed and the clinical outcomes were recorded.

RESULTSThese 18 patients were followed up from 4 to 8 months (averaged 6 months). All acromioclavicular joint dislocation were reduced. According to the scales of Karlsson, the post-operation function 1 of shoulder-joint in 16 patients were A grade and 2 patients were B grade.

CONCLUSIONThe improvement technique of double Endobutton plate is an effective ideal treatment methods for Tossy III acromioclavicular joint dislocation due to its less invasion and convenience and good biocompatibility.
