OBJECTIVETo evaluate the clinical outcomes and complications of Triple-Endobutton plates in treating Tossy type III acromioclavicular joint dislocation.
METHODSFrom January 2011 to January 2013,45 patients with Tossy type III acromioclavicular joint dislocation were treated with Triple-Endobutton plates. There were 35 males and 10 females with an average age of 30.5 (ranged from 19 to 60) years old. At the final follow-up, VAS, DASH, Constant-Murley criterion were used to evaluate shoulder function.
RESULTSAll patients were followed up from 15 to 36 months. No neurovascular injury, wound infection and stress fractures were found, but 3 patients had a re-dislocation. At the final follow-up,the mean VAS score was decreased from (5.7±1.6) preoperatively to postoperative (0.2±0.1); DASH score was significantly decreased from (19.6±4.3) preoperatively to (0.3±0.1) postoperatively; Constant-Murley score was improved from (34.4±4.3) before operation to (94.8± 3.5) after operation.
CONCLUSIONClinical outcomes of treating Tossy type III acromioclavicular joint dislocation with Triple-Endobutton plates is satisfactory. However, re-dislocation is still the most common complication. Careful perioperative management is an important factor in preventing re-dislocation.

Epidemic influenza (flu) is a disease threatening the life of people for a long history.A precise forecast for the flu outbreak can warn and help health care providers to take measures to reduce the influences and harms in advance. At present, with the development of information technology, there have accumulated tremendous data of flu trends and climate information. With a history of 90 years researches about the forecast of flu trends, researchers have put forward different types of forecasting methods, and each of them has merits and demerits.Among these methods, those ones considering the key climate factors have higher precisions.Considering various methods at present, the prediction accuracy can be improved mainly from two aspects:on one hand, the forecast accuracy can be improved by effectively integrate the advantages of different models ; On the other hand, the prediction must take into account of the specific climate of an area, pathogens and the mode of transmission characteristics in order to determine the most relevant climate factors or other highly related factors with which to design a more reasonable and accurate prediction method.

The traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theory of "treating heart and brain diseases with same methods (Nao Xin Tong Zhi: NXTZ)" has great significance to the treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. It has been proven effective by a great deal of clinical researches. However, the underlying mechanism for this theory is still unclear. To provide insights into the potential mechanism of "NXTZ", this study attempts to deeply investigate the mechanism from two representative cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, coronary heart disease (CHD) and cerebral apoplexy. First, various data resources were integrated to obtain different types of biomedical entities including drugs, targets, pathways and diseases. Then, three different approaches including text mining, biological network and enrichment analysis were utilized to recognize the potential common features between CHD and cerebral apoplexy, and the corresponding functions of drugs which could treat both diseases, thus unveiling the mechanism of NXTZ.

Objective To investigate the effect of individual nostalgia therapy on positive feelings and sadness of the spouses of postoperative patients with esophageal cancer. Method From June 2014 to June 2015, 60 hospitalized patients and their 60 spouses were set as control group. Routine health education and guidance were conducted once or two times a week for 7 weeks. Another 60 cases of hospitalized patients and their 60 spouses during July 2015 and June 2016 were set up as observation group. The patients were treated with the same nursing intervention as in the control group, and their spouses were subjected to individual nostalgia treatment once a week for 7 weeks. Before the intervention (postoperative day 2) and 7 weeks after the intervention, the positive aspects of caregiving (PAC) and the Margit-Meuser caregiver grief ineventary short form (MM-CGI-SF) were used to investigate their positive feelings and sadness. Result The score on spouse's positive feelings in the observation group after intervention was significantly higher than those of the control group and that of the observation before intervention (P < 0.01). Conclusion Individual nostalgia can effectively improve the feelings of the spouses of esophageal cancer patients and reduce their grief.

Objective To appraise the clinical value of velocity vector imaging(VVI) by analyzing the peak systolic velocities, strain and strain rate of ventricular segments in patients with DDD pacing. Methods eventeen patients with DDD pacing were enrolled in this study. The peak systolic velocities, strain andstrain rate of ventricular segments were measured with VVI. The difference at baseline and after pacemaker implantation was analyzed. Results Left and right ventricular (LV and RV) longitudinal peak velocities at baseline and after DDD pacing were significantly decreasing from basal, mid to apical segments. But no significant difference was found in longitudinal strain, strain rate and radial motion characteristic of LV. The mean systolic velocities and strain rate at baseline and after pacemaker implantation and strain with pacing of RV posterior septum and free wall were higher than those of posterior septum and lateral segment of LV respectively. The mean strain and strain rate of RV after pacing were higher than that of LV. Compared with the values at baseline, mean strain of LV with pacing was lower significantly. Conclusions VVI can accurately assess ventricular systolic function in patients with DDD pacing, and can become a powerful means in assessing the regional myocardial function.

Objective To evaluate the efficiency of normal sacral nerve root transposition in repair of the sacral plexus root avulsion. Methods A total of 30 adult SD rats were chosen and divided into three groups,ie,group A(the sciatic nerve received no repair),group B(the autologous sacral plexus root nerve was bridged with the right L6 nerve root by the translocation of the left L6)and group C (the right L5 nerve root nerve was bridged by the translocation of the left L6),10 rats per group. The left side of the rats was used as the control side and the right one as the experimental side.Twelve weeks after operation, the rats in each group were selected for the histomorphological observation of the nerves under the microscope and the electron microscope. The models were evaluated by observing the survival rates of the rats,BBB scores, electron microscope weight and muscle fiber CSA(cross section area)of double biceps femoris, triceps surae and tibial muscle. Results Twelve weeks after operation, the BBB scores in groups B and C was higher than that in group A,with statistical difference(P<0.01)between three groups.A remarkable improvement was found in the ratio of weight and muscle fiber CSA of double biceps femoris, triceps surse and tibial muscle. The repair efficiency in the group C was better than that in the group B.In the group B,the biceps femoris, triceps surae and tibial muscle recovered at different degrees. The biceps femoris recovered the best, when a great deal of myelinated nerve fiber regeneration was observed under the microscope and the electromicroscope.Electromyography revealed the volatility in the muscles of three groups, with larger peak value for the proximal biceps femoris and the triceps muscle but smaller peak value for the distal anterior tibial muscle. Conclusions L6 transposition combined with auto-graft of nerve root or without the auto-graft can reconstruct the partial function of the sciatic nerve in the paraplegia rats, when the latter has the better effect.
