Objective · To establish human cervical cancer xenografts in nude mice and investigate the antitumor therapeutic effects and safety of EGF modified cisplatin-alginate conjugate liposomes. Methods · Cervical cancer-bearing mouse model was established by subcutaneously injecting Hela cells in nude mice. Generalstate and xenograft growth of the mice were observed. Tumor volumes, tumor weights, and the body weights of mice during the treatment were recorded and analyzed. The expression levels of EGFR in xenografts were detected by immunohistochemistry. Results · ① EGFR was highly expressed in the xenografts. ② CS-EGF-Lip inhibited the tumor growth effectively (P=0.000). ③ The inhibition rates of tumor volume and tumor weight of CS-EGF-Lip were 80.22% and 58.60% respectively, which were betterthan those of cisplatin (P=0.000). ④ CS-EGF-Lip had minimal influence on body weight in mice (P=0.000). Conclusion · CS-EGF-Lip has more effective antitumoreffects than cisplatin in cervical cancer-bearing mice, which can inhibit tumor growth of solid tumors with enhanced efficacy and safety.

In this study, we investigated the effect of Cigu Xiaozhi formula on HSC-T6 activity in hypoxic microenvironment based on network pharmacology and computer-aided drug design, and predicted and verified its possible targets and related signaling pathways. The potential active components and targets of Cigu Xiaozhi formula were screened by searching Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology Database and Analysis Platform (TCMSP), Encyclopaedia of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ETCM) and Bioinformatics Analysis Tool for Molecular Mechanism of Traditional Chinese Medicine (BATMAN-TCM) databases, and the liver fibrosis related targets retrieved from Gene Cards and Pharm GK database were integrated to obtain the potential targets of Cigu Xiaozhi formula in the treatment of liver fibrosis. GO enrichment analysis and KEGG signaling pathway enrichment analysis were performed on Omic Share platform, and Cytoscape software was used to construct the "potential active ingredient-key target-pathway" network. The active components and target proteins were subjected to molecular docking analysis by Auto Dock software. According to the results of molecular dynamics simulation and binding free energy calculation, the top 5 active components with degree were scored. The active components stigmasterol and

Objective To investigate the clinical value of measurement of phrenic nerve conduction function. Methods Evoked potentials of the phrenic nerve were measured in 292 patients with brachial plexus injuries.According to the normal value that was established in the electromyogram in our hospital,we divided them into normal and abnormal evoked potential groups, and then, the latent period and wave amplitude in the two groups were compared. Results Compared to those in the normal potential group, the latent period in abnormal group was significantly high and wave amplitude low(P<0.05).Conclusion Measurement of phrenic nerve conduction is convenient, safe, and reliable to evaluate the conduction function of the phrenic nerve.

Biosimilars are biological medicinal products that are highly similar to an already licensed reference product in terms of quality, safety, and efficacy. BAT1706 is being developed by Bio-Thera Solutions, Ltd. as a proposed biosimilar candidate to bevacizumab reference product (Avastin®). Bevacizumab acts by specifically binding to vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), and preventing the interaction of VEGF-A with its receptors on the surface of endothelial cells, then blocking the downstream signaling pathway mediated by ligand-receptor, and inhibiting endothelial angiogenesis, thus inhibiting tumor growth. Comprehensive analytical characterization studies incorporating orthogonal analytical techniques were performed to compare the

Objective To summarize the clinical characteristics of SLE patients complicated with Listeria monocytogenes meningitis (LMM).Methods The clinical manifestations, systemic involvements, laboratory tests, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) examinations, treatment and prognosis of SLE inpatients combined with LMM in Peking Union Medical College Hospital during Janurary 2000 to December 2015 were retrospectively analyzed. Results Eight SLE patients with LMM accounted for 0.14% of the 5 675 hospitalized SLE patients.Seven were female and 1 was male, with the mean age of (35±16) year.Headache (7/8) was the most common neurological symptom followed by positive meningeal irritation sign (5/8),unconsciousness (3/8) and nausea or vomiting (2/8).Increased intracranial pressure was found in 7 cases and 4 of them were even higher than 330 mmH2O.CSF protein elevated in 6 cases and CSF glucose decreased in 6 cases.LMM often occurred in inactive or mild active SLE with the average SLE disease activity index (SLEDAI) score of 4.7±1.5.Systemic manifestations included hematologic changes (6/8),rashes (4/8),renal involvement (4/8) and arthritis (3/8),etc.Treated by autibiotics such as penicillin and medications for SLE,7 patients achieved clinical improvements,1 patient died. Conclusion LMM is one of the opportunistic infections in SLE patients and tends to occur in inactive lupus cases. There are unspecific clinical and laboratory features and CSF changes which maybe overlap and mix up with systemic manifestations of SLE.That's why it is necessary to take continuous cultures of CSF.Early identification and appropriate treatment lead to prognostic improvement of these patients.

AIM: To assess the relative agreement of GAT and NCT in IOP measurement by comparing the differences between Goldmann applanation tonometer (GAT) and non-contact tonometer (NCT) in intraocular pressure (IOP) detection.METHODS: IOP of 529 eyes of 265 volunteers were measured with both NCT and GAT, respectively.RESULTS: The measurement results of NCT were lower than that of GAT, there was significant difference between the IOP measured with NCT and GAT (19.13 vs23.43, t=22.644, P<0.05). With the increasing of IOP values, the difference magnitude was greater, especially in IOP group that was more than 30mmHg, but the correlation coefficient became lower.CONCLUSION: The measurement results with NCT are lower than that of GAT. When the IOP with the NCT is in borderline value, it need be corrected with GAT, in order to discover the pathologically elevated IOP and avoid the misdiagnosis and mistreatment of glaucoma.

Methods for studying the population diversity of microorganism in activated sludge usually require enrichment of bacterial genome. The efficient information on microbial species composition provided and shifted in diversity revealed are dependent on the effective DNA recovery technique. The method was based on washing by alkaline phosphate buffer and digestion with extended heating of the activated sludge suspension in the presence of lysozyme and freeze-thawing in high-salt-SDS buffer. The extraction was tested for four activated sludge differing in places and dates. The DNA fragment from all sludge was integrity.DNA yields ranged from 105 to 823 ?g/g sludge and were of sufficient purity for PCR-based 16S ribosomal DNA analysis and restriction digested. In general, all methods produced DNA pure were not enough for PCR amplification and libraries construction. As basis of experimental goals, the study provides an appropriate extraction method of microbial DNA in sludge.

This study investigated the effect of puerarin on human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) injured with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). HUVEC were divided into three groups: a control group, a model group (H2O2 400 μmol·L-1) and a puerarin-treated group (3, 10, 30 and 100 μmol·L-1). HUVEC were cultured with varied concentration of puerarin for 2 h and treated with H2O2 for another 24 h. Cell proliferation was detected by a CCK-8 assay. The mitochondrial membrane potential was measured by a JC-1 fluorescent probe. A transwell chamber assay was adopted to observe cell migration ability. Mitochondrial respiratory function was measured in a two-chamber titration injection respirometer (Oxygraph-2k). The expression of interleukin-1
