Objective To assess the impact of maximal fat oxidation intensity(FATmax) exercise on arterial stiffness in overweight/obesity young men.Method Thirty two overweight/obesity young men (BMI≥25 kg/m2) without the habit of doing exercises, were divided into an exercise group (n=16) and a control group (n=16) randomly. The exercise group completed a 12-week walk/run(FATmax intensity,3-5 times/week,40-60 min/time) intervention, while the control group maintained normal life style without regular exercise. The body composition, cardiopulmonary function (VO2max),C reactive proteins (CRP) and blood hemodynamic were measured, and the brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity(baPWV) was observed to assess the arterial stiffness before and after the 12-week intervention. Results Significant decrease was observed in the average weight, body mass index, body fat mass, body fat percentage,baPWV,CRP,platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) (P<0.05),while significant increase was found in the average VO2max and HDL-C(P<0.05) after the training. After the intervention, the change in baPWV(△) was positively associated with △ CRP(r=0.604),△ NLR(r=0.535) and △ WBC (white blood count) (r=0.406) (P<0.05,n=32),but negatively correlated with △ VO2max (r=-0.660,P<0.05,n=32).Conclusion FATmax intensity aerobic exercise is effective to downregulate the inflammation, and improve aerobic fitness and vascular function. However, the potential mechanism of arterial stiffness improvement following exercise needs further study.

Objective To explore the effect of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation(PNF)on the knee abduction torque and vastus medialis-medial gastrocnemius(VM-MG)co-contraction index during walking among the old patients with medial compartment knee osteoarthritis. Methods From March to May,2022,32 old patients with medial compartment knee osteoarthritis in communities in Ji'nan were enrolled and randomly allocated to control group(n=16)and training group(n=16).The training group received PNF and the control group received home-based exercise, for six weeks. The knee abduction torque and VM-MG co-contraction index were measured using an infrared motion capture system synchronized with 3D force plate and electromyography system before and after treatment. Results Three cases in the control group and two cases in the training group dropped off.The first and the second peaks of knee abduction torque, and the VM-MG co-contraction index improved in the training group after treatment(|t|>2.460,P<0.05),and the first and the second peaks of knee abduction torque were better in the training group than in the control group(|t|>2.454,P<0.05). Conclusion PNF may optimize the load distribution between the medial and lateral compartments of the knee in patients with knee osteoarthritis.

AIM: To assess the accuracy of predicting intraocular lens(IOL)power after myopic refractive surgery using the Pentacam system's true net power(TNP)in the 3 mm zone combined with the SRK/T formula [i.e. TNP 3 mm(SRK/T)].METHODS: Retrospective study. This study enrolled 35 cases(50 eyes)of patients undergoing cataract surgery after laser assisted in situ keratomileusis(LASIK)or photorefractive keratectomy(PRK)from July 2019 to December 2021. Preoperatively, IOL power of 50 eyes, 34 eyes and 41 eyes was calculated by TNP 3 mm(SRK/T), Barrett True-K and Olsen 2 formulas, respectively, with at least 2 formulas used to calculate IOL power for each patient. The actual diopter was recorded 3 mo postoperatively. Prediction errors(PE)of IOL power were compared among the three calculation methods, and the proportion of eyes with PE within ±0.5 D and ±1.0 D was analyzed.RESULTS: The PE at 3 mo postoperatively for TNP 3 mm(SRK/T), Barrett True-K, and Olsen 2 was -0.02±0.63, -0.54±0.80, and 0.25±0.80 D, respectively(P<0.001). The proportions of PE within ±0.5 D were 66%(33/50), 44%(15/34)and 37%(15/41), respectively(P<0.05); the proportions of PE within ±1.0 D were 88%(44/50), 71%(24/34)and 80%(33/41), respectively(P>0.05).CONCLUSION: The Pentacam TNP 3 mm(SRK/T)method is simple to operate and provides accurate calculation of IOL power after corneal refractive surgery.
