To learn the epidemiological characteristics of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)in Huzhou,so as to provide reference for prevention and control of COVID-19.
Methods:
All the confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Huzhou, diagnosed according to the COVID-19 Diagnosis and Treatment Plan(Sixth Version Trial)and reported from January 25 to February 7,2020,were recruited. The process of diagnosis and treatment, clinical manifestation, exposure history and close contacts were collected to analyze the epidemiological characteristics.
Results:
On January 25,the first confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Huzhou was reported. By February 7,totally 10 confirmed cases were reported and no asymptomatic infection was found. They were all imported, including three Wuhan residents, two with a trip to Wuhan, three with a trip to Suizhou, one with a trip to Hangzhou and one with a trip to Thailand(two Wuhan passengers on the same flight). The ratio of male to female cases was 1∶1. The median age was 32 years old. Seven cases were found when they went to a doctor by themselves, and three cases were found during the quarantine. The main clinical manifestations were fever, dry cough and fatigue. The median time from onset to diagnosis was 3 days. By March 3,all the cases were discharged, with median course of 24 days. There were 312 close contacts, and all of them were released after 14 days of quarantine.
Conclusions
To prevent imported cases from outside and stop spread inside taken by Huzhou government was proved to be effective. All the COVID-19 cases in Huzhou were imported, mostly from Wuhan. No local cases were reported.

OBJECTIVETo achieve early diagnosis for inheritable hearing loss and determine carrier rate of deafness causing gene mutations in order to provide information for premarital, prenatal and postnatal genetic counseling.
METHODSA total of 17 000 dried heel blood spots of normal newborns in Chengdu were collected with informed consent obtained from their parents. Genomic DNA was extracted from dried blood spots using Qiagen DNA extraction kits. Microarrays with 9 common mutation loci of 4 deafness-associated genes in Chinese population were used. Nine hot mutations including GJB2 (35delG, 176del16, 235delC and 299delAT), GJB3 (538C> T), SLC26A4 (IVS 7-2A> G, 2168A> G), and mitochondrial DNA 12S rRNA (1555A> G, 1494C> T) were detected by PCR amplification and microarray hybridization. Mutations detected by microarray were verified by Sanger DNA sequencing.
RESULTSOf the 17 000 new-borns, 542 neonates had mutations of the 4 genes. Heterozygous mutations of GJB2, at 235delC, 299delAT, and 176del16 were identified in 254, 55, and 15 newborns, respectively. Two newborns had homozygous mutation of GJB2, 235delC. Heterozygous mutations at 538C> T of GJB3, 2168A> G and IVS 7-2A> G of SLC26A4 were found in 23, 17 and 128 newborns, respectively. For mutation analysis of mitochondrial DNA 12S rRNA, 1494C> T and 1555A> G were homogeneous mutations in 4 and 42 neonates, respectively. In addition, 6 complexity mutations were detected, which demonstrated that one newborn had heterozygous mutations at GJB2 235delC and SLC26A4, IVS7-2A> G, one had heterozygous mutation GJB2 235delC and 12S rRNA homogeneous mutation, 1555 A> G, one heterozygous mutations at GJB2, 299delAT, and GJB3, 538C> T, one at GJB2, 299delAT and 12S rRNA, 1555 A> G, two at GJB2, 299delAT, and SLC26A4, IVS7-2A> G. All mutations as above were confirmed by DNA sequencing.
CONCLUSIONThe total mutation carrier rate of the 4 deafness genes is 3.19% in healthy newborns at Chengdu. Mutations of GJB2 and SLAC26A4 are major ones (86.5% of total). The mutation rate of mitochondrial DNA 12S rRNA is 2.71‰, which may have deafness induced by aminoglycoside antibiotics. Newborn screening for mutation of genes related to hereditary deafness plays an important role in the early detection and proper management for neonatal deafness as well as genetic counseling for premarital, prenatal and postnatal diagnosis.

Objective To evaluate the predictive value of posttreatment whole body scan (RxWBS) for radiation damage to the salivary glands in patients with differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC).Methods From April 2015 to June 2015,24 patients (8 males,16 females;age:26-64 years) with DTC,who accepted 131I therapy only one time and underwent Rx-WBS 2-4 d after 131I treatment, were recruited from the First Hospital of China Medical University. All patients had normal salivary glands function on salivary gland scintigraphy (SGS) performed on the day before 131I treatment, and 21 patients underwent SGS again 3 months after 131I treatment. The SGS results and clinical manifestations were used to evaluate the function of salivary glands after 131I therapy.Rx-WBS was analyzed by visual analysis and quantitative analysis (salivary gland to background uptake ratios,SUR).The SUR was compared between patient groups with different function of salivary glands.Mann-Whitney u test was used.Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was used to calculate the sensitivity of SUR for predicting the salivary gland damage. Results The SUR in dysfunctional parotid glands (n =12) was significantly higher than that in other glands with normal function (n=30;3.60(2.55,4.33) vs 2.75(2.33,3.29);z=-2.005,P<0.05).The SUR was not different between submandibular glands with lower function (n =15) and those with normal function (n=27;z=-0.144,P>0.05).The SUR of parotid glands (n =32) in patients with parotitis was significantly higher than that in others (n=16;3.16(2.53,4.01) vs 2.49(206,2 81);z=-3.073,P<0.05).The SUR of submandibular glands (n=28) in patients with sialadenitis was significantly higher than that in others (n=20;4.43(2.67,7.61) vs 2.93(1.92,4.65);z=-2.740,P<0.05).When 2.97 and 3.66 were selected as cutoff values, the sensitivities of SUR for predicting parotitis and sialadenitis were 59%(19/32) and 64% (18/ 28),respectively.Conclusion Rx-WBS may play a role in predicting radiation damage to the salivary glands.
