Purpose: : This study aimed to identify post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and burnout experienced by healthcare providers who cared for patients with Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and their influencing factors. Methods: : Data were collected from 135 healthcare providers who cared for patients with COVID-19 in a tertiary general hospital from June 8 to September 2, 2021, using a questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis test, t-test, ANOVA and Scheffe’s test, Pearson’s correlation coefficients, and multiple regression were used for analysis using SPSS/WIN 27.0. Results: : Participants’ average PTSD score was 9.31 ± 11.80, and 8.9% were in the high-risk group. Participants’ average burnout score was 51.77±21.28, and 62.2% were at high risk. PTSD scores differed significantly according to participants’ age, education, job, position, and current workplace. Burnout scores differed significantly according to their age, gender, marital status, parental status, and education. There was positive correlation between participants’ PTSD and burnout. The factors influencing participants’ PTSD were term of self-isolation and age (R2=.09). There were no significant influencing factors on participants’ burnout. Conclusion : This study reconfirmed that healthcare providers who cared for patients with COVID-19 experienced both PTSD and burnout, suggesting that interventions are needed such as regular pre-training or simulation training and establishing a support system.

MAGE (melanoma antigen gene) is a tumor specific shared antigen, presented by HLA class I molecules, which is recognized by cytotoxic T lymphocytes. MAGE proteins are expressed in malignant tumor cells, in contrast to no expression in normal or benign tissues except for testis and placenta. MAGE might be a potential target for immunotherapy of malignant tumors. However, its biological aspects associated with cell cycle are not yet described. The flow cytometry is a useful tool for objective and quantitative analyses of heterogenous tumor cell population. To understand the status of MAGE related to cell cycle and its relationship with p53 as the G1 checkpoint regulator, p21, and PCNA as a proliferative index, we investigated expression of MAGE-3 protein, mutant p53, p21, and PCNA by flow cytometry and immunohistochemical stain. In addition, double stains for MAGE-3/p53, p53/PCNA, and p53/p21 were analysed with bivariate flow cytometry. DNA histograms using MAGE-3/PI (DNA) and p53/PI (DNA) were also analysed. The cell line (PNUH- 12) used for this study originated from a hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma, which has point mutation (exon 7, C-->G) of p53. The expression rate of MAGE-3 was 83%, PCNA 85%, and p53 81%. No expression for p21 was identified. MAGE-3 was expressed in cytoplasm, while both PCNA and p53 were expressed in nuclei of tumor cells. With bivariate analyses, coexpression rates of MAGE-3/p53 and p53/PCNA were 0.96 and 0.97, respectively. Both MAGE-3 and p53 showed constantly high level throughout the cell cycle. These results suggest that expression of MAGE-3 and mutant p53 is not dependent on the cell cycle. p21 seems to be inactivated.

The preoperative measurement of adequate nail length is very important for femoral shaft fracture naiTing Operation. To reduce the disadvantages of scanography which are the fracture site pain, motion and radiation hazard, the simple external measurement method of intramedullary nail length was designated through this study. The fifty normal Korean whose bone growth v:as ceased were chosen for this study. And the lengths with the simple external measurement of thigh and scanogram of femur were compared at both side. The lateral roentgenographic view of femur was checked to analysis of anterior angulation at the proximal one third of femur was checked to analysis of anterior angulation at the proximal one third of femur. The following results were: 1. Femoral length was about 24% body height on an average. 2. The distance between the lower margin of the anterior superior iliac spine and the patellar upper pole (SPD) was equal to the distance between the tip of the greater trochanter and the cented of distal subchondral line. 3. Straight intramedullary nail length was 40 to 45 mm shorter than SPD. 4. The roentgenogram revealed that the femur took its anterior bowing by 9 degrees.

PURPOSE: A diagnosis of wooden intraorbital foreign bodies is common and their removal is often necessitated after complications become manifested. In case of operation, it is difficult to find and remove wooden foreign bodies completely. We have experienced a case of retained multiple intraorbital foreign bodies removed by the secondary operation. We report this case with a literature review. METHODS: A 39-year-old man visited our clinic complaining of diplopia, exophthalmos, and limitation of eyeball movement. He had fallen down and had a lacerated wound. Right after primary closure, he experienced strabismus, orbital cellulitis, and abscess. Several months later, he had a soft mass in the operated lower lid, and two wooden intraorbital foreign bodies were found. MRI detected granuloma and cellulitis near the cavernous sinus. RESULTS: More than ten intraorbital wooden foreign bodies were surgically removed. After the surgery exophthalmos and diplopia were improved, and limitation of eyeball movement disappeared. The MRI findings were also improved. CONCLUSIONS: Intraorbital wooden foreign bodies should be diagnosed with a thorough history taking and radiologic exam, due to a number of potential complications, such as orbital cellulitis, abscess, and diplopia. Furthermore, they should be removed in consideration that they can move spontaneously into the deep interior of the orbit.
