6.A Digital Approach to a Definitive Immediate Denture: A Clinical Report.
Ju Hyoung LEE ; Hyung Gyun KIM
Journal of Korean Dental Science 2016;9(2):74-80
Even though an immediate denture (ID) is a practical prosthesis, fabricating an ID may be challenging, as unexpected removals of periodontally compromised teeth may occur during an impression procedure. This clinical report introduces a digital approach to a maxillary ID. An intraoral scanner was applied to prevent accidental extraction. A physical cast and a resin pattern of a framework were fabricated with rapid prototyping technology. A proper border and retention was also achieved by an altered cast impression.

PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to compare denture wearer's evaluation and clinician's technical rating for complete denture used on edentulous patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Total 43 edentulous patients who had complete denture fabricated more than one year ago were recalled. The questionnaire based on the various literatures was modified and applied to patients for subjective assessments. Functional aspects related to retention, stability, occlusion and denture condition were included in operator's evaluation. In addition, correlations were evaluated between patient's subjective and operator's objective assessments. Friedman test and Cohen's Kappa value were used for statistical analysis. RESULTS: It was found that denture wearers' evaluations were slightly or fairly agree to clinician's rating for complete denture. More differences were found in maxillary denture than mandibular denture and moderate difference was found in esthetic, occlusion aspects. CONCLUSION: There were slightly or fairly agreement between subjective and objective evaluations.

9.Cause of technical failures of conical crown-retained denture (CCRD): a clinical report.
Yang Jin YI ; Lee Ra CHO ; Chan Jin PARK
The Journal of Korean Academy of Prosthodontics 2003;41(6):714-719
Conical crown-retained denture (CCRD) has been used as a very effective treatment method in cases with few remaining teeth with heterogeneous prognosis. However, in spite of many advantages of CCRD, high technical failure rate was a problem to be considered. Incorrect path of insertion and excessive retention were thought to be the main cause of technical failure and to result from laboratory procedure with a coping misfit and/or a coping transfer error. In order to prevent this error, secure anchoring of inner coping and re-examination and milling of convergence angle were recommended on the master model from pick-up impression.

10.The case of interim denture applying for thermoforming technique.
Journal of Dental Rehabilitation and Applied Science 2016;32(2):135-140
Patients who get tooth loss would also lost their esthetic, stability and functional aspect suddenly. They have to get provisional restoration immediately. This case reports a satisfied result that thermoforming technique is good for patients to get injury from unexpected tooth loss.
