During the stable physiological stage, the molar may be treated by root channel filling. The silver- amalgamated filling in carious cavities of 2 nd class at interproximal faces may be easily detached. It seems to be advantageous to merely fill these cavities without restoring the interproximal edges

The teeth present at birth are called natal teeth, while the teeth that appear within the first thirty days following birth are called neonatal teeth. Approximately one in 2,000 to 3,500 infants experiences the eruption of teeth at birth or within the first few weeks postpartum. Many contributing factors have been suggested for the premature eruption of primary teeth. It has been suggested that upon eruption these teeth are of normal structure according to their developmental age, but after eruption, lateral movement in the cervical area leads to disturbance of the dentin and premature degeneration of Hertwig's root sheath. In most cases, they have immature, aborted structures consisting only of caps of enamel, dentin, or a combination of both. A radiograph can show the presence or absence of enamel, dentin, or root structures, as well as supernumerary teeth. These teeth may be aspirated or swallowed during feeding. Discomfort from mobile and erupting teeth often causes the infant to refuse to feed. In addition, a nursing mother's nipples may become lacerated and infected. Extraction is the indicated treatment if these neonatal teeth cause discomfort or demonstrate mobility or incomplete, immature development. Treatment decisions must be made on an individual basis from both clinical and radiographic findings. We report four cases of neonatal teeth in complete cleft lip and palate patients.

Lateral luxation injuries are common during childhood and in young adolescence. These injuries involve the surrounding tissues that could lead to extensive clinical treatment problems with a risk of pulpal complications such as pulp necrosis. A case of a healthy 4-year old Malay boy visiting the paediatric dental clinic after seven months of laterally luxated injury on the lower right lateral incisor (tooth 82) was reported. The traumatic tooth was splinted by a private practitioner three days after the trauma, however, the splint dislodged less than 24-hour after placement. In view of the mother’s fear of bringing her child to the dentist due to the COVID-19, no follow-up and further treatment were carried out. This has resulted in the development of discolouration and pulpal necrosis to the injured tooth. Lesion sterilization and tissue repair technique (LSTR) was performed. This report highlights the rare occurrence of lateral luxation injury on tooth 82 and the management of pulp necrosis as a complication via lesion sterilization and tissue repair technique due to the uncooperative behaviour of the child.

This validation study aimed to provide a validated Malay language version of the Ages and Stages Questionnaire: Social Emotional-2 (ASQ:SE-2) as a developmental screening tool for the social emotional development of Malaysian toddlers. In this study, content validity determination, translation, cultural and lingual modifications, and construct validity were made to the original English version of ASQ:SE-2. A pilot study was conducted to determine the internal consistency and construct validity of ASQ:SE-2 18-Month and 36-Month Questionnaires, with 100 respondents for each instrument, respectively. Test-retest reliability was conducted on 60 respondents for each instrument, respectively. Acceptable internal consistency was obtained based on Cronbach’s alpha of 0.731 and 0.686 for ASQ:SE-2 18-Month and 36-Month Questionnaires, respectively. Reproducibility of both sets of instruments are excellent, with Intraclass Coefficient of 0.922 and 0.970 for 18-Month and 36-Month Questionnaires, respectively. The Malay Language version of the ASQ:SE-2 has appropriate validity and reliability for screening social emotional developmental of Malaysian toddlers.

Clinicians sometimes confront unerupted supernumerary teeth where implants would be placed. Many clinicians consider immediate placement of implant into an extracted socket as an effective technique compared to the conventional method of waiting several months for bone healing, because of the advantages such as reduction of treatment period, preservation of alveolar bone and soft tissue, etc. We could hardly find the case of immediate placement of implant after extraction of impacted supernumerary teeth and permanent teeth together. Therefore we report the case of immediate implantation following extraction of impacted supernumerary teeth and poor periodontal conditioned permanent teeth.]]>

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of application time and phosphoric acid etching of 8th generation adhesives containing functional monomer on adhesive performance in primary teeth.80 extracted non-carious human primary teeth were selected and divided into 8 groups based on 3 factors: (1) adhesive: G-Premio bond and Single bond universal; (2) application time: shortened time and manufacture's instruction; (3) acid etching mode: self-etching and total-etching. Shear bond strength was measured using a universal testing machine, and fractured surface were observed under scanning electron microscope. Microleakage was evaluated by dye penetration depth.G-Premio bond were not significant different in shear bond strength and microleakage depending on application time of adhesive and acid etching mode. In Single bond universal, shear bond strength of short application time was significantly lower than that of long adhesive application time (p = 0.014). Clinically applicable shear bond strength values (> 17 MPa) were identified in all groups.These results suggested that G-Premio bond be used clinically for a short application time without phosphoric acid etching.

Oligodontia is defined as a congenital tooth agenesis with the absence of six or more permanent teeth. This clinical report describes a patient with non-syndromic partial oligodontia, with retained deciduous teeth and the absence of 16 permanent teeth. Anterior esthetic problems were caused by interarch tooth size discrepancy, interdental space, aberrant tooth dimensions, and the absence of centric contacts of the anterior teeth. Prosthetic restoration after orthodontic and implant treatment was performed with a multi-disciplinary team approach. Favorable functional and esthetic results were obtained using a definitive prosthesis.

Orthodontic treatment of a complex case that involves retained deciduous mandibular second molars with missing permanent successors is challenging. Usually, congenitally missing teeth are manifested with other dental anomalies that further complicate orthodontic treatment, such as retained deciduous teeth, impactions, transpositions and peg-shaped lateral incisors. Even though the long term prognosis of the retained deciduous tooth is not fully predictable, if the teeth are in good condition, the patient and clinician may incline towards a decision to preserve the deciduous teeth as long as possible. This case report demonstrates that deciduous teeth, in this case the mandibular second molars and maxillary canine, can be incorporated into final occlusion with clinically stable long-term results.

The purpose of this study was to identify which combination of zirconia crowns and cements is most similar in color to the maxillary primary incisors by varying the color of zirconia crowns, crown thickness, and shade of cements. Prefabricated zirconia crowns in 3 shades and crowns fabricated using 6 types of zirconia blocks were used in this study. These were filled with A2-shade or translucent-shade resin cement and the L(*), a(*), and b(*) values were calculated using a spectrophotometer. The color differences between the natural teeth and the zirconia crowns were assessed. The shade of the final restoration was more similar to that of the natural teeth using A2-shade than translucent-shade resin cement. Application of A2-shade cement to a 0.5-mm-thick crown fabricated from a smile series 2 zirconia block resulted in the color most similar to that of the natural teeth. A2-shade resin cement is recommended for zirconia crown restoration in anterior primary teeth compared to TR-shade resin cement for more esthetic restoration. Since restorations with Nusmile zirconia crowns were not esthetically favorable in terms of shade, improvement of the shade characteristics of the product or development of a new kind of zirconia crown is required.
