1.Confusion and solution for vital pulp therapy.

Dental pulp tissue plays a role in forming dentin, providing nutrition, conducting pain, and generating protective responses to environmental stimuli. Bacterial infection is the main cause of pulp disease, where histopathological changes are the histological basis for determining the choice of treatment and the evaluation of therapeutic effect. Thus, particular attention should be given to eliminate infection, as well as preserve and maintain pulpal health in teeth that show reversible or limited pulpal injuries. Vital pulp therapy, especially its indications and prognostic factors, has been a research hotspot that often causes confusion among clinicians. In this paper, we briefly introduce the confusion and solution for vital pulp therapy in terms of indications, pulp condition assessment, infection elimination, and capping material selection. In addition, we develop a clinical pathway and an operation normalization of vital pulp therapy to better perform the therapy.

2.Clinical guidelines for pulp therapies of primary teeth.

Pulpal and periapical diseases are the most prevalent dental conditions damaging the oral health of children in China. In view of China's national condition, the level of diagnosis and treatment for pulpal and periapical diseases of deciduous teeth is uneven and clinically there are inconsistent standards on the selection of operation methods for the endodontic treatment in deciduous teeth. Targeting these problems, the Society of Pediatric Dentistry, Chinese Stomatological Association organized experts from several famous universities and hospitals in China to carry out a panel discussion. The results of domestic and overseas researches and diagnosis and treatment experiences on dental pulp disease and periapical disease of deciduous teeth were also referred to. The present guideline was finally developed for the reference of dental clinicians.

3.The palato-gingival groove - anatomical anomaly occurred in maxillary lateral incisors: case reports.

This report describes clinical cases of a palato-gingival groove on a maxillary lateral incisor with associated localized periodontal disease and pulp necrosis. The tooth of the first case was extracted because of severe bone destruction. The palato-gingival groove of the second case was eliminated using a round bur, and the resulting defect was filled with synthetic graft and covered by an absorbable membrane. Both diagnosis and treatment of palato-gingival groove were very difficult and usually extraction of the involved tooth is the treatment of choice, but combined endodontic-periodontic treatment allowed the tooth to be saved.

4.A method of transversal stuff of root canal

Many images of X-ray examination showed that the treatment of endodontal disease had a good effect but infact, the root canal was not completely closed, the fluid can permeat in to the root canal leading to the infection. Regardless the arthopady of the root canal and isolation of teeth during fusion, this study applied a method of trans versal stuff of root canal. This method involved the stuff of the patch in to the root canal by stick of gutta or lentulo and then stuff of the main gutta and smaller stick with standard stick in to the end of root canal, at last cutting the spare gutta

5.Prevalence of orodental diseases in pupils with ages of 12 in secondary schools, Cau Giay district and risk factors

We undertake this study to create a base for expanding the school dental program in the whole country of Vietnam, firstly in Hanoi capital and Cau Giay district just established. Our research scope is of 9,512 pupils selected accidentally from several Secondary schools located in Cau giay district in Feb 1998. Followings are the minitial results of our research: 1. The proportion of carries to 12 years old pupils in Cau Giay district is 37.9% in which there are no difference between the boys and girls. 2. The proportion of periodontosis is 77.9%, in which the boys is more than the girls with p< 0.05. 3. Eating candy and other sweets too much is a causative for carries (with OR= 5.7) and for periodontosis (with OR= 4.28) 4. Infrequent tooth brush also is a causative agent for carries (with OR = 4.58) and periodontositis (with OR=3.87)

6.The orodental disease in primary school ages of 8-11 in Thua town, Gia Guong district and risk factors

1. The proportion of carries to pupils in Thua town is 54.4%, in which permanent teeth carries is 5.9% and periodontosis is 83.3%. 2. There is no statistical difference among the proportions of carries, permanent teeth carries and periodontosis distinguished by sex and ages. 3. There is a relation between daily tooth, (as well as time of brushing, number of teething everyday) and the propotion of carious and periodontosis. 4. There is a clear relation between frequently candy eating and carious as well as periodontosis. 5. Based on the relation between knowledge on reason of carries as well as the the method of precaution and carries/ periodontosis, we can suggest that pupil having good education on carries precaution will be able to avoid carries as well as periodontosis.

7.Dental management of patients with X-linked hypophosphatemia.

X-linked hypophosphatemia (XLH) is a hereditary metabolic disease caused by the loss of phosphate through the renal tubules into the urine, and an associated decrease in serum calcium and potassium phosphate. Its dental features include spontaneous dental abscesses that occur in the absence of trauma or dental caries. The aim of this case report was to describe the dental problems of XLH patients and to evaluate limitations in their treatment. A 14 year old male and a 38 year old female with XLH were referred to the Department of Conservative Dentistry for endodontic treatment. The dental findings were periapical abscesses without obvious trauma or caries. Conservative endodontic treatment was performed in teeth with pulp necrosis and abscess. In case 1, the treated teeth showed improvements in bone healing, without clinical symptoms. However, in case 2, the implants and the treated tooth showed hypermobility, and the final restoration was therefore postponed. Early diagnosis, periodic examinations, and communication with the patient's pediatrician are important in the dental management of patients with XLH.

8.A Case of Paraneoplastic Acral Vascular Syndrome Accompanied with Metastatic Adenocarcinoma.

Paraneoplastic acral vascular syndrome(PAVS) designates the various acral ischemic changes in the elderly patients with occult cancer in the absence of usual causative conditions such as connective tissue disease, hemostatic abnormalities, cardiovascular disease, metabolic disease, peripheral neuropathy, trauma, emboli, and drugs. The common clinical presentation in PAVS is as follows; Raynaud phenomenon, digital gangrene, pulp ulceration, splinter hemorrhage, and acrosclerosis. Most common neoplastic origin of PAVS has been known to be adenocarcinoma occurring in the lung, ovary or uterus. Until now, PAVS have been rarely reported in the Korean literature. We herein report a rare case of PAVS associated with metastatic adenocarcinoma of unknown primary origin.

9.Bioactive materials in endodontics.

Bioactive materials is defined as substances that elicit special chemical bonding at the interface between tissues and the material. In recent years, more and more bioactive materials have emerged in endodontic treatment. The present article introduces the definition, classification and application of bioactive materials in endodontics. Combined with evidence-based medicine and bioactive materials, optimum treatment recommendations for various endodontic diseases are provided and the development trend of bioactive materials in endodontics is also discussed.

10.Evaluation of root canal treatment by thermal obturation

Root canal treatment in three dimensions is the best technique in the world. In this study, 30 teeth with 81 rood canals are obturated with heat carries. The propotion of lateral canal is 30.86% and the propotion of success is 92.59%. It is the advantage of the technique. This technique is applicable in our working condition with heat carries and bunsen burner
