Objective To evaluate the clinical effect and safety of percutaneous closure of patent foramen ovalein treatment of migraine. Methods We studied 23 patients with migraine who were tested positive in Contrast Transcranial Doppler (TCDc) at the Department of Neurology in Bethune First Hospital of Jilin University between 2010 May and 2011 November.Procedures of transcatheterclosure of patent foramen ovale were performed at Department of Cardiovascular Surgery. At varied time points post-surgery,the patients were re-examined by TCDc and transthoracic echocardiograph (TTE) and followed up by phone interviewed with Headache Impact Test-6 (HIT-6) questionnaire to elevate improvement of migraine. The data was analyzed statistically. Results Percutaneous closure was successful in all patients without major long-term side-effects.At follow-ups at 48-542 days ((247 ± 145) days) post-surgery,the scores of HIT-6 were reduced to 38-70 (51 ± 9),compared to the pre-operative scores of 42-76 (61 ± 8).Disability by migraine had significantly improved (t =4.80,P < 0.05).In 6 patients with migraine with aura, the scores of HIT-6 were reduced to 46-56 (51 ± 3),from preoperative scores of 63-76 (69 ± 4) and their disability affected by migraine had significantly improved (t =6.80,P <0.05).In 17 patients with migraine without aura, the scores of HIT-6 after surgery were reduced to 36-70 (52-10) from the preoperative scores of 42-69 (60 ± 8) and disability affected by migraine in this group had significantly improved (t =3.77,P <0.05).Among 18 patients having MRI or CT examination before the operation,8 patients had neurological events (such as cerebral infarction, cerebral ischemia) with average age of (44 ± 7) years old.In this group, disability affected by migraine had significantly improved (the HIT-6 scores:49 ± 7 vs 58 ± 10,t =2.49,P < 0.05).Conclusion Percutaneous closure of PFO showed significant improvement in migraine treatment and it is a safe procedure.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the efficacy of rehabilitation associated with local intramuscular injection of botulinum toxic A (BTX-A) on spastic cerebral palsy (CP).Methods60 children with spastic CP were divided into experimental group and control group with 30 cases in each group. Cases of experimental group were treated with rehabilitation associated with local intramuscular injection of BTX-A. Cases of control group were treated only with rehabilitation treatment. The therapeutic efficacies of two groups were evaluated with physician rating scale (PRS) and activities of daily living (ADL) evaluation systems.ResultsImprovement of clinical evaluations index-PRS and ADL in experimental group was much more significant than that of control group (P<0.05). ConclusionRehabilitation associated with local intramuscular injection of BTX-A can improve the efficacy of spastic CP.

OBJECTIVETo identify and evaluate the risks of serious public health events for 29th the Olympic Games and 13th Paralympic in order to offer scientific bases for security public health of Olympic Games.
METHODSUse Delphi experts refer, Level analysis, Risk assessment and Hazard analysis and critical control points, to research public health risks for 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
RESULTSFrom analysis, we concluded 45 kinds of public health risk consisting in 5 areas and made sure its risk level: 5 kinds of Extreme risk in 3 areas; 22 kinds of High risk in 5 areas; 10 kinds of Moderate risk in 4 areas and 8 kinds of Low risk in 4 areas. And also we imported the risk management thought to research tackle strategies for 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
CONCLUSIONSIt might offer scientific bases for security public health of Olympic Games by identification and risk assessment of Serious Public Heath Events for the 29th Olympic Games.

OBJECTIVE To study the degree and regular of Aspergillus flavus air contamination in hospital.METHODS Some ambient air of different environment in our hospital was taken 5 times in one day of four seasons one year by using centrifugal air sampler, and then cultivated(using eumycete cultural methods),counted and analyzed.RESULTS A.flavus strain was collected in all sampling points in four seasons. The concentration of Aspergillus flavus in six standort was diverse from each other, and the highest was the out-patient clinic with 1238.9 CFU/m3.The concentration of Aspergillus flavus in each division of Medical Department was significant difference during four seasons(P0.05).The difference between internal medicine and external enviroment was significant between the first and the third season(P=0.022,P=0.039),but that of the second and the fouth season was not significant(P=0.022,P=0.624).CONCLUSIONS The contamination of Aspergillus flavus in hospital was severe. So it′s necessary to prevent the Aspergillus flavus infection and enhance the environmental control of susceptible population.

Objective: To select the telomerase positive cancer cell lines of gastrointestinal tract and to provide a convinced methodology for future telomerase study. Methods: Fifteen cancer cell lines (carcinoma of stomach 4, of liver 6, of pancreas 2, of colon 3) were cultured and telomerase activity were detected by TRAP-ELISA. The normal hepatic cells were taken as control. Results: Thirteen cell lines were telomerase positive in the 15 lines(86.7%). Conclusion: Most of gastrointestinal tract cancer lines express telomerase, indicating the detection of telomerase activity has clinical potential.

To investigate the role and mechanism of ceramide (Cer) regulation in alcohol-induced neuronal proliferation and the newborn neurons formation, we used sphingomyelin synthase 2 (predominant enzyme of Cer metabolism) knockout (SMS2(-/-)) and wild type (WT) female mice to establish the model of prenatal alcohol exposure. In 24 h after being given birth (postnatal day 0, P0), the offspring of model mice received blood sphingomyelin (SM) measurement with enzymatic method. On P0, P7, P14 and P30, the proliferation of granule cells in the dentate gyrus and newborn neurons were investigated with immunofluorescent labeling. The expression of protein kinase Cα (PKCα) in the hippocampus was tested with Western blot analysis. The results showed that the SM level of blood in SMS2(-/-) pups was significantly lower than that in WT pups. No matter in SMS2(-/-) or WT mice, the prenatal alcohol exposure down-regulated the SM levels in pups with dose-dependency. In both SMS2(-/-) and WT pups, the number of proliferative neurons and newborn neurons in the dentate gyrus gradually decreased with the growing age. Compared with the WT pups, SMS2(-/-) pups showed significantly more proliferative neurons and newborn neurons in the dentate gyrus. Notably, prenatal alcohol exposure dose-dependently increased proliferative neurons and newborn neurons in the dentate gyrus in both WT and SMS2(-/-) pups. The hippocampal expression of PKCα protein in SMS2(-/-) mice was lower than that in WT mice, and prenatal alcohol exposure could up-regulate the PKCα protein expression in both WT and SMS2(-/-) mice with dose dependency. These results suggest that alcohol exposure during pregnancy can induce the compensatory neural cell proliferation and the production of newborn neurons in offspring, and the Cer-ceramide-1-phosphate (C1P) pathway is involved in alcohol-induced neural cell proliferation. The activation of PKCα may be a key step to start the Cer-C1P pathway and up-regulate the alcohol-induced neural cell proliferation and the newborn neurons formation.
