3.Core stabilization exercises, implant fixation and lumbar fusion for degenerative lumbar spondylolisthesis:lumbar function evaluation
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2015;(31):5036-5040
BACKGROUND:Lumbar degenerative disease is a common and frequently occurring disease in spinal surgery. With increasing age, the incidence rate is increased. OBJECTIVE: To elevate clinical outcomes and improve the quality of life of patients by analyzing spinal stability after lumbar implant fixation fusion and functional training in treatment of lumbar degenerative disease. METHODS: (1) We used a prospective randomized controled design. The 52 patients with I° or II° degenerative lumbar spondylolisthesis were randomly divided into two groups, with 26 cases in each group. Conventional exercises were carried out in the control group and core stabilization exercises for the treatment group, with course of treatment for 24 weeks. Curative effects of numerical rating scale and the Oswestry Disability Index were compared at 6, 12 and 24 weeks after treatment respectively. (2) Spinal stability after lumbar fusion and fixation of the implant for degenerative lumbar spondylolisthesis was evaluated by database document retrieval. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1) After 24 weeks, numerical rating scale score and the Oswestry Disability Index were significantly lower in the treatment group than in the control group (P < 0.05 orP < 0.01). Core stabilization exercises apparently relieve lumbar pain and improve the ability of activities. Core stabilization exercises are better than conventional training. (2) Pedicle instrument fixation combined with interbody fusion is effective for lumbar spondylolisthesis within the second degree. Posterior interbody fusion has predominant mechanical property in maintaining spondylolisthesis orthopedic and stabilizing the structure. Correction loss and fixation failure easily occur after posterolateral fusion, but clinical effects are not affected.
4.The diagnostic value of YKL-40 and CEA in malignant pleural effusion
Chongqing Medicine 2015;(35):4950-4952
Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of YKL‐40 and CEA in malignant pleural effusion .Methods There were 45 cases of benign pleural effusion and 52 patients with malignant pleural effusion in this study from November 2013 to No‐vember 2014 .Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) and electrochemi lumine scence immunoassay(ECLIA) method were carried out to detect the concentration of YKL‐40 and CEA respectively .The differences of the two groups of patients between YKL‐40 and CEA levels were compared ,and the correlation between YKL‐40 and clinical pathology of malignant pleural effusion were analyzed .In addition ,the receiver‐operating characteristic curve(ROC curve) was used to compare the diagnostic value be‐tween YKL‐40 and CEA .Results The average value of YKL‐40 in malignant pleural effusion was (189 .5 ± 147 .0)ng/mL ,and sig‐nificantly higher than in benign pleural effusion group(P< 0 .05) .The elevated level of YKL‐40 was related to tumor types and lymphatic metastasis(P<0 .05) ,but it had no correlation with the gender ,age and degree of tumor differentiation(P>0 .05) .The diagnostic sensitivity and specificity of YKL‐40 was 80 .9% and 51 .2% ,which was lower than CEA(83 .1% and 74 .6% )(P<0 .05) .However ,the sensitivity and specificity was 90 .6% and 88 .2% when combined the two biomarkers together .Conclusion YKL‐40 have a certain clinical diagnostic value in malignant pleural effusion ,it indicate to adenocarcinoma or advanced cancer when the level of YKL‐40 rised .Since the sensitivity and specificity is lower than traditional biomarker of CEA ,we should combine with the other tumor markers to improve the diagnostic accuracy .

Objective To study the toxicity and physical, chemi ca l and antimicrobial properties of the tracheal catheter made with nanometer anti microbial plastics. Methods For examining the toxicity of the n ew tracheal catheter, 30 Kunming mice were divided into 3 groups. The mice in gr oup A received 2ml of fluid sucked through the catheter by intra-abdominal inje ction, the mice in group B received 1ml of suction fluid, and the mice in group C received 2 ml of normal saline. Multiple proportional dilutions were used to d etect the antimicrobial property of the tracheal catheter against both positive and negative Gram bacteria. Results No noxious effects or toxic ity was found in tested mice, and all the physical and chemical data of the cath eter were up to the National Standard. The catheter showed a certain antimicrobi al effects on some of common pathogenic bacteria. Conclusion Th e tracheal catheter made with nanometer antimicrobial plastics had no noxious ef fects on mice, it showed a certain antimicrobial effects on to some of common pa thogenic bacteria, and its physical and chemical properties were up to the Natio nal Standard.

Objective To observe the delayed cardioprotective effect of the extract of Gingkgo biloba leaves(EGb761)and its possible mechanisms in rats. Methods Myocardial ischemia-reperfusion(I/R)injury was induced by 30 min of global ischemia and 30 min of reperfusion in isolated rat hearts.Heart rate(HR),coronary flow(CF),left ventricular pressure(LVP),and its first derivatives(+dp/dtmax)were recorded, and the releasing content of creatine kinase(CK),contents of malondialdehyde(MDA)and nitric oxide(NO)in myocardial tissues were measured. Results Single ig EGb761(50 or 100 mg/kg)at 24 h before I/R were done could significantly attenuate the damage of cardiac function(LVP and +dp/dtmax)and the lowering of NO level in myocardial tissues, and inhibit the increasing in CK release and MDA level induced by I/R in myocardial tissues. The delayed cardioprotective effects of EGb761 were markedly inhibited by pretreatment with L-NAME(5 mg/kg),an inhibitor of NO synthase,or HMR1883(3 mg/kg),an antagonist of sarcolemmal ATP-sensitive potassium channels(sarcKATP).Conclusion Pretreatment with EGb761 could protect against I/R-induced myocardial injury in rats, and the delayed cardioprotection of EGb761 may be related to increasing in NO production and opening of sarcKATP.

The methods adopted in this paper were as follows: (1) The cost of the filariasis control was estimated to be direct cost and indirect cost; (2) Using the reduction rate of acute inflarrlmatory attack as the measurable indicator of control effectiveness; (3) Estimating the case number of acute inflammatory attack occurred after control year by year basing on the goodness by fitting in the reduction trend of acute inflammatory attack with hyperbola formula; (4) Assuming that the case number of acute inflammatory attack would be relatively stable at the same level of pre-control if filariasis control measures were not implemented;(5) The benefit from the filariasis control was estimated by transforming the increasing manworking day and sav1ng the mediclne expenses of patients due to the reduction of acute inflammatory attack. By allowing seven percent discount on cost and benefit, the total cost was 21 182 Yuan, the total benefit was 119 859 Yuan, the ratio of cost-benefit was 1: 5. 7,implying that putting in one Yuan to filariasis control in this township may gain benefit 5. 7Yuan.

Background and purpose:The reason for hepatitis B virus (HBV) with hepatocyte specificity is PreS1 enchased on the hepatitis B virus envelope (HBVE). So HBVE may have a potential application in liver targeting gene transfer. In this study, we investigated whether HBVE has the ability to target liver cancer cells. Methods:HBVE was obtained from the supernatant of Hep G 2.2.15 cells through PEG8000 system and ?-propiolactone method. The pIRS2-EGFP was packed with HBVE and resulted in the product HBVE-GFP. HBVE-GFP was transfected into HepG2, A549, HeLa and FB cells. The green fluorescent protein (GFP) expression was observed under a fluorescent microscope. The rate of GFP positive cells was determined by flow cytometer. Results:The GFP could be observed in the four groups, but the HepG2 group had a higher fluorescent intensity than the other 3 groups. The transfected rate of HepG2 group was (71.35?0.03)% , much higher than other groups(P
