Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 1993;0(04):-
The experiment was conducted on the actions of 5 kinds of reagents on HL - 60 cellular wither, viz. Yisuiling chloroform extract, rabbit serum chloroform extract, rabbit liver paste chloroform extract, Etoposide, and normal rabbit serum. Results revealed that after fluid incubation for a short period, the HL-60 cultured cells showed no wither in the former 4 groups under microscope and flowing cytometer. Among them, action was strongest in rabbit liver paste of Yisuiling extract group, similar to the positive control of Etoposide. Followed by rabbit serum, and the action was weak in Yisuiling chloroform extract. There was no obvious action of induced wither by normal rabbit serum. The mechanism of induced wither is still under investigation.

OBJECTIVE:
To discuss the role of carbon nanoparticles in the protection of parathyroid during thyroid carcinoma surgery.
METHOD:
Seventy-two patients with thyroid carcinoma who had initial surgery were randomly divided into two groups: carbon nanoparticles group and the control group. Emulsion of carbon nanoparticles was injected into the thyroid gland of carbon nanoparticles group patients. After thirty minutes, the excision of thyroid carcinoma and VI group neck dissection were performed in carbon nanoparticles group patients, the control group directly underwent operation. The black stained tissue in the dissection specimen of carbon nanoparticles group was separated. The number of total lymph node, metastasis lymph node and parathyroid gland in the tissure black stained or not in two groups were counted respectively.
RESULTS:
There were 312 lymph nodes in the black stained tissue of central compartment dissection specimen of carbon nanoparticles group. No parathyroid gland was found in the black stained tissue. Fifteen lymph nodes containing four parathyroid glands were found in the non black stained tissue in carbon nanoparticles group while there were 202 lymph nodes containing 13 parathyroid glands in the control group. There were statistical difference between the amount of lymph node in black stain tissue and the specimen of the control group. Parathyroid glands were not stained black, and no parathyroid gland was found in the black-stained tissue.
CONCLUSION
The carbon nanoparticles could be used to identify the lymph node and the parathyroid gland for protecting the parathyroid gland in thyroid surgery.

Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 2016;32(10):1388-1394
Aim To explore the inhibition of Sinica Maxim′s extract( CSME) on resistant infections of burn wounds, such as the methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus ( MRSA ) , resistant pseudomonas aeruginosa (RPA) and resistant escherichia coli(RECO). Meth-ods The resistant strains were cultured by MH agar plates. After resistance genes of quality control strains were extracted and appraised, such as mecA, mexB, merA, qacE△1-sull, tnpU/A and mexB, etc, and then, some projects of CSME were detected, such as the antibacterial spectrum, the minimum inhibitory con-centration(MIC), different concentrations of sensitive rate and inhibition curves, etc. Finally, these results were compared with the inhibitory effects of some anti-biotics to determine the sensitivity rates of CSME. Re-sults The MIC of CSME was 62. 5 ,125 ,250 g · L-1 respectively on the MESA, RPA and RECO. The inhi-bition rates of CSME appeared concentration-dependent on these three kinds of resistant bacteria, and the inhi-bition rates of the multi-concentration CSME on RECO were significantly lower than on MRSA and RPA ( P<0. 05). While in MIC,the resistance rates of MRSA on carbenicillin, cefazolin, erythromycin were significant-ly higher than those of CSME(P<0. 05); The inhibi-tion zones of CSME were significantly smaller than those of ceftriaxone, cefepime, imipenem, but greater than those of other antibiotics( P<0. 05 ); The inhibi-tion zones of CSME on RPA were significantly smaller than those of carbenicillin, and greater than those of other antibiotics ( P <0. 05 ) . The inhibition zones of CSME on RECO were significantly smaller than those of ceftriaxone,cefepime,imipenem,ciprofloxacin,nitro-furazone,and greater than those of other antibiotics ( P<0. 05 ) . Conclusions CSME has a significant inhi-bition on burn wound infection with these three kinds of resistant bacteria, such as MRSA,RPA and RECO. It is prompted that CSME could become one of the effective drugs to control burn wound infections with multi-re-sistant strains.

AIM:To investigate the inhibitory effect of P12,a kind of lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-binding protein(LBP) inhibitory peptide,on the binding of LPS to macrophage in vitro.METHODS:Human monocyte-like cell line(U937 cells) was grown in RPMI-1640 and stimulated with PMA in order to induce their differentiation to macrophage stage. The relative affinity of P12 to LPS was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).The effects of P12 on the binding of LPS to U937 cells were determined by flow cytometry analysis. The production of tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-?) was measured by ELISA.RESULTS:The relative binding activity of P12 to LPS was higher than that of LBP in the same mass concentration.P12 inhibited the binding of FITC-conjugated LPS(FITC-LPS) to U937 cells. The productions of TNF-? was also significantly suppressed by P12.CONCLUSION:The results suggest that blockage of LBP at the inflammatory sites might attenuate LPS-induced circulatory shock.

ObjectiveTo investigate application value of parametric image processing in contrastenhanced ultrasound imaging in diagnosis of ovarian masses. MethodsFifty cases with ovarian masses underwent routine ultrasound and contrast-enhanced ultrasound imaging using a new dedicated parametric image processing software SonoLiver to analyze patterns of vascular formation and blood stream perfusion in the ovarian mass tissues on a digital video recorder in real time, compare their morphological characteristics of time-intensity curve (TIC) and dynamic vascular patterns (DVP) curve, and analyze quantitatively all indicators generated by SonoLiver.ResultsIn ultrasound imaging of the 50 cases, there were 24 cases (86%) displaying mainly blue lowly-enhanced imaging in those with benign masses and 15 cases (68%)displaying mainly red highly-enhanced imaging in those with malignant masses, with statistical significance (P <0. 01 ). There was significantly different characteristics of TIC and DVP between patients with benign and malignant masses. In 23 cases with benign masses, their DVP were significantly higher above the baseline than in those with malignant ones ( P = 0. 000), and in 15 cases with malignant lesions, their DVP were much shorter below the baseline than in those with benign ones, with statistical significance (P <0.05). The intensity of contrast medium, the time to reach its peak intensity and average transit time were all significantly higher in those with malignant masses than in those with benign ones (all P < 0. 05 ). But, no statistical difference in the time of initial increasing between the two groups was found (P > 0. 05). ConclusionsThere is significant difference in TIC and DVP of ultrasound imaging between benign and malignant masses, which if combined with contrast enhanced ultrasound parametric image processing can provide a more visualized quantitative information of benign and malignant ovarian masses with SonoLiver software.

BACKGROUND: Mesenchymal stem cells attract extensive attention because of good biological characteristics and broad prospects, but the cells gradually show the characteristics of the aging with the increase of individual age or incubation time in vitro. Nonhuman primates have similar biological characteristics with human being, and have unique advantage in the animal model and disease treatment research.OBJECTIVE: To analyze the difference in proliferation and differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells from macaques at different ages and to explore the effect of age on bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells and the possible mechanism.METHODS: Bone marrow samples from male macaques aged < 3 years and over 20 years were collected through bone marrow puncture, and divided into young group and elder group, with three macaques in each group. Then, bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells were isolated and cultured in vitro, and the morphological changes, proliferation and differentiation ability were observed. Age-related beta-galactosidase staining was performed, and protein microarray and ELISA were used to detect cytokine levels.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: With age, the proliferation and differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells from the elder macaques were reduced significantly, and the number of senescent cells increased significantly; the levels of interleukin-1b, interleukin-4, interleukin-6, tumor necrosis factor α and vascular endothelial growth factor were elevated obviously, the levels of heparin-binding basic fibroblast growth factor and placental growth factor were reduced. These findings indicate that the body's aging lead to the reduction in the proliferation, differentiation and cytokine secretion of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells.

Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Medical Sciences) 2011;31(6):828-33
This study investigated the anti-HSV-2 effect of alumen through in vitro and in vivo experiments. Viable cell counting was employed to assess the toxicity of alumen on Vero cells. The inhibition rate of HSV-2 was defined as the cytopathic effect (CPE) of the cells infected with the virus. Alumen suppositories of different concentrations were vaginally applied to the guinea pigs which were then infected with HSV-2 via a vaginal route. The clinical symptoms were observed and the local virus titer calculated. The results showed that alumen had an in vitro anti-HSV-2 effect by means of antiviral duplication, direct killing of the virus, and antiviral adsorption. Alumen suppositories of different concentrations could reduce or completely inhibit HSV-2 infection in guinea pigs. It was concluded that alumen had an in vitro anti-HSV-2 effect through multiple approaches and it could suppress in vivo vaginal HSV-2 infection of guinea pig to some extent.
