Chinese Journal of Urology 2001;0(06):-
Objective To improve the diagnosis and treatment of xanthogranulomatous pyelonephri- tis(XGP).Methods The clinical data of 18 cases(5 males and 13 females;mean age,47 years)with XGP were analyzed.Of them,6 had the lesion on the left, and 12 on the right. Before operation,XGP was mis- diagnosed as renal calculus with hydronephrosis in 4 cases, ureteral calculus with severe hydronephrosis in 3 cases, renal tuberculosis in 3 cases and renal carcinoma in 8 cases. Results Of the 18 cases,7 were diag- nosed to have XGP by frozen section during operation and 11 cases had a definite diagnosis by pathological examination after nephrectomy. After a follow-up of 6-124 months,no recurrence was observed in all these 18 cases. Conclusions Preoperative diagnosis of XGP is difficult. This disease is clinically characterized by foam cells in urine smear,low-density value of kidney CT and ineffective antibiotic therapy.Combined a- nalysis of clinical data and improvement of clinical recognition of XGP is the key to avoiding delayed diagno- sis or misdiagnosis of XGP.

This article aimed to study the antigenicity of nucleocapsid proteins (NPs) in six pathogenic phleboviruses and to provide theoretical evidence for the development of serological diagnostic reagents. NPs of six pathogenic phleboviruses were expressed and purified using a prokaryotic expression system and rabbits were immunized with individual recombinant NPs. Cross-reactions among NPs and rabbit sera were determined by both indirect ELISA and Western blotting analyses, and the sera titer was determined by indirect ELISA. Furthermore, sera from SFTS patients were also detected by each recombinant NP as a coating antigen using indirect ELISA. The cross-reactions and the sera titer were subsequently determined. Both the concentration and purity of recombinant NPs of six pathogenic phleboviruses met the standards for immunization and detection. The results of indirect ELISA and Western blotting showed that each anti-phlebovirus NP rabbit immune serum had potential serological cross-reactivity with the other five virus NP antigens. Furthermore, the sera from SFTS patients also had cross-reactivity with the other five NP antigens to a certain extent. Our preliminary study evaluated the antigenicity and immune reactivity of six pathogenic phleboviruses NPs and laid the foundation for the development of diagnostic reagents.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of oligochitosan in promoting intestinal absorption of protoberberine alkaloids in extracts from Corydalis saxicola total alkaloids.
METHODThe in vitro single-pass intestinal perfusion model in rats was established to study the changes in absorption kinetic parameters of dehydrocavidine, berberine hydrochloride and palmatine chloride in C. saxicola total alkaloids after the addition of different concentrations oligochitosan and evaluate the effect of oligochitosan in promoting intestinal absorption of the drugs.
RESULTThe concentration of oligochitosan had different effects on the absorption rate constant (Ka) and apparent permeability coefficient (Peff) of the three active component in rat intestines. Ka and Peff in 0.5% oligochitosan group significantly increased, indicating a stronger effect in promoting the absorption.
CONCLUSIONOligochitosan has a certain effect in promoting the intestinal absorptions of protoberberine alkaloids in C. saxicola total alkaloids.

The UHPLC-LTQ-Orbitrap high resolution mass spectrometer was used to explore the chemical compositions in safflower. The rapid separation of the compositions was conducted by the UHPLC, following by high resolution full scan and MS2 scan, under the positive and negative ion mode. The chemical formula of compositions were deduced by full scan data in less than 5, then the potential structures were confirmed by the MS2 data. Forty-nine compounds were detected, of which 26 was identified, and 5 compounds was validated by the standard substances.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the clinical outcomes of percutaneous intervertebral foramina endoscopic lumbar discectomy for elder patients with lumbar spinal stenosis syndrome.
METHODSFrom July 2006 to July 2011, 60 elder patients with lumbar spinal stenosis syndrome were treated with surgical operation, including 32 males and 28 females with an average age of (66.7 +/- 2.5) years old ranging from 72 to 83 years. These patients were divided into the traditional surgery group and percutaneous intervertebral foramina endoscopic discectomy groups (PTED group), 30 cases in each group. The index of the preoperative and postoperative, operative incision visual analogue scale (VAS) of two groups were compared. The Oswestry disability index (ODI) of two groups at 6, 24 months of the follow-up were also evaluated on activity of daily living.
RESULTSThe average operative time, the average blood loss, the number of cases using analgesic drug, hospitalization time of PTED group were better than those of the traditional surgery group (P < 0.05). The improvement of incision VAS in PTED group was better than that in the traditional surgery group (P < 0.05). All patients were followed up for 24 months at least. The ODI at 1, 24 month after operation were better than that of preoperative in two group respectively (P < 0.05), but the improvement of PTED group was better than that of the traditional surgery group (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONPTED has the advantages of smaller incision, less bleeding, less postoperative stay and hospitalization time, tissue trauma and quicker recovery. It is a safe and efficacious minimally invasive surgical technique for elder patients with lumbar spinal stenosis syndrome.

Journal of Environment and Health 2007;0(11):-
Objective To observe the toxic effects of subacute manganese exposure through drinking water on blood system in rats and offer the scientific data for understanding manganese toxicity mechanism. Methods Male SPF SD rats were randomly divided into control group,high-dose and low-dose Mn-exposed group,12 animals in each group. The two Mn-exposed groups were treated with Mn at doses of 0.5,5.0 g/L,through drinking water, for 60 consecutive days. After 60 days of treatment, haemoglobin (Hgb),red blood cells count(RBC),platelet count(PC),white blood cells count(WBC)and differential count(WBC-DC)were examined by blood routine test. The activity of alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),alkaline phosphatase(ALP),cholinestarase(ChE),monoamine oxidase(MAO),superoxide dismutase(SOD),nitric oxide synthase(NOS)and the level of glutathione(GSH),maleicdialdehyde(MDA)were determined. Results No significant differences of body weigh,Hgb, RBC and WBC were found among the 3 groups.PC and neutrophil(N)percent of WBC were higher, eosinophil(E)percent of WBC was significant lower in high dose and low dose Mn-exposed groups compared with the control group.None of basophil(B)and monocyte(M)was found in 3 groups.Compared with the control group, the activity of ALT,AST,ALP,ChE,NOS and MDA level increased,SOD activity and GSH level decreased significantly in high dose and low dose Mn-exposed groups, and significant doseeffect relationships were seen in the above changes. Conclusion Long term manganese exposure may have some adverse effects on the blood system in rats.
