OBJECTIVETo study the bonding capability when Ni-Cr porcelain alloy was added with Ti, compound rare earth metals and removed the element of Be.
METHODSNi-Cr-Ti porcelain alloys manufactured by Institute of Metal Research of Chinese Academy of Sciences were tested. The test alloys were divided into three groups according to whether containing Be and compound rare earth metals or not. And HI BOND Ni-Cr base-metal alloy was chosen as control. The metal-ceramic specimens were prepared for shear test, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy spectrum analysis.
RESULTSThe shear bond strength of the four groups were analyzed. No significant difference were observed among them (P > 0.05). No crackle was found and they were contacted tightly between the porcelain and metal. The composition and contents of the four groups' interfaces were closed.
CONCLUSIONThe shear bond strength of the self-made Ni-Cr-Ti porcelain alloys all can satisfy the clinical requirements. Experimental groups containing Ti, compound rare earth metals and removing the element of Be can be used as better recommendation for clinical practice.

Background and Objective:The gross tumor volume (GTV) obviously reduces after induction chemotherapy (IC) for primary Iocoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). This study was to investigate the impact of changing gross tumor volume delineation on the dose distribution and clinical treatment outcome after IC. Methods: From January 2008 to April 2009, 24 patients with Stage Ⅲ-Ⅳb primary locoregionally advanced NPC were treated with TPF regimen IC followed by intensitymodulated radiotherapy (IMRT) with concurrent chemotherapy The primary GTVs were delineated into two parts: the post-IC primary GTV (GTVpost-IC-NP),and the region of pre-IC primary GTV minus GTVpost-IC-NP (GTVprepost-IC-NP). The dose distributions of two plans with GTVpost-IC-NP or pre-IC primary GTV were assessed by analyzing ten cases. The clinical treatment outcome and toxicity of all patients were observed. Results:The post-IC GTV was significantly smaller than the pre-IC GTV(primary GTV 25.5 cm~3 vs.51.1 cm~3,P=0.001;lymph nodes GTV 9.1 cm~3 vs. 31.4 cm~3, P=0.035;primary+lymph nodes GTV 33.2 cm~3 vs. 82.6 cm~3, P=0.004), the overall GTV with an average shrinkage of 61%. The high dose region was also smaller after IC(volumes covered by 64.4 Gy were 422.9 cm~3 vs.457.9cm~3, P=0.003; 274.2 cm~3 vs.334.5 cm~3 by 68 Gy, P=0.041). The complete response rate was 38% after IC,and 100% three month after radiotherapy. The toxicity of following IMRT with concurrent chemotherapy was similar to that of IMRT with concurrent chemotherapy alone. With median follow-up of 9 months, the locoregionally control rate was 100% and only one patient presented metastasis 15 months after treatment. Gonclusions: TPF regimen IC could significantly reduce tumor volume. The following IMRT with GTVpost-IC-NP plan reduced the high dose region, which didn't add toxicity while had excellent short-term treatment outcome.

OBJECTIVETo investigate whether Hantavirus (HV) and Orientia tsutsugamushi ( OT) can naturally infect and coexist in their host and role.
METHODSBy field epidemiological study, Leptotrombidium scutellare (3829) was collected and separated from mice(166) in epidemic areas. The cells of mites separated from their host and role were cultured. PCR was used to detect HV-RNA and OT-DNA in the cell culture.
RESULTSIn 105 Apodemus agrarius, 3 HV-RNA positive, 2 OT-DNA positive and 2 coinfection with HV and OT were detected;in 41 Brown rattus, 2 HV-RNA positive, 1 OT-DNA positive and 1 co-infection with HV and OT were detected. From 15 mites co-infected with HV and OT, 2 strains of HV pathogen, 2 strains of OT pathogen were separated and 1 HV and OT pathogen in the same mite were separate.
CONCLUSIONThe study demonstrates that co-infection of HV and OT did simultaneously exist in wild Leptotrombidium scutellare. This theory has some significance to the epidemic and precaution of HV and OT.
