OBJECTIVETo observe the effect and safety of plastering Chinese Compound Shenhuang Ointment (CSO) at Shenque (RN8) in promoting the rehabilitation of postoperative gastrointestinal dysfunction patients of qi stagnation blood stasis syndrome (QSBSS).
METHODSA prospective, multi-centered, randomized, double-blinded, controlled trial was conducted in 220 postoperative gastrointestinal dysfunction patients of QSBSS. They were randomly assigned to two groups, the CSO group (110 cases) and the placebo group (110 cases). CSO was plastered at Shenque (RN8) for 5 days after operation. The time of exhaustion, defecation, the recovery of intestinal peristalsis, integrals of TCM syndrome, and serum levels of motilin (MOT)and somatostatin (SS) were observed.
RESULTSCompared with the placebo group, the condition of exhaustion and defecation, the recovery of intestinal peristalsis on the 3rd day after operation was all improved (P < 0.05). The integrals of TCM syndrome at day 2, 3, and 4 were more significantly lowered in the CSO group than in the placebo group (P < 0.01, P < 0.05). The total effective rate of TCM syndrome was 95.3% in the CSO group, better than that in the placebo group (91.8%, P < 0.05). Compared with the placebo group, the serum MOT level increased and the serum SS level decreased at day 5 after operation in the CSO group (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSThe plastering of CSO at Shenque (RN8) could advance the time of exhaustion and defecation, and improve patients' clinical symptoms. And patients could tolerate well.

Objective To investigate children′s myelodysplastic hematopoietic cells reaction to interleukin (IL)-15.Methods CD 34 + cells in bone marrow from 18 myelodysplast syndrome(MDS) patients were purified by an immunomagnetic beads sorting system. Apoptosis of hematopoietic precursors was assayed by propidium iodine staining and flow cytometric analysis. Results On 8th cultured day, when IL-15 concentration was between 0-100 ng/ml,it could suppress apoptosis of hematopoietic cells in MDS patients in a dose-and- time dependent manner. IL-15 in study group significanthy lower than that of control group. Conclusion IL-15 may partly suppress apoptosis of hematopoietic cells in MDS patients.

Objective To investigate the changes of serum glycocholicacid(CG),hyaluronic acid(HA),procollagen type Ⅲ(PCⅢ) in neonatal diseases.Method The levels of serum CG,HA and PCⅢ were measured by radioimmunoassay in 46 neonates with different diseases and 20 healthy neonates. Results Serum CG and HA in patients group were significant higher than those in healthy control group(P

Abstract: Objective To investigate whether the complement system of COVID-19 is affected by vaccination, and also to explore the relationship between complement and length of stay in hospital, with a view to providing input for clinical diagnosis and the management of COVID-19 patients. Methods The patients admitted from November 1st to November 30th, 2021 in the Eighth Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University were selected as subjects. According to the time of vaccination, the patients were divided into two groups as vaccinated within half a year and over half a year. Then C3, C4, IgG, IgM, IgA, COVID-19 IgG and IgM, neutral granulocyte and lymphocyte count were detected and all patients' hospitalized days were recorded. With their hospitalization days of 14 d as a threshold, the patients were divided into two groups, and the above indicators were compared. Results C3 concentration was (0.86±0.157) g/L in patients with vaccination within six months, which is significantly lower than (0.96±0.172) g/L in those over six months (P<0.05), but as for C4, IgG, IgM, IgA, COVID-19 IgG and IgM, neutral granulocyte and lymphocyte counts, there were no significant difference between two groups; as for the patients within 14 days of hospitalization, C3 and C4 concentrations were lower than those for more than 14 days, but the COVID-19 antibody IgG and IgM, lymphocyte counts were higher (all P<0.05). Conclusion Vaccination within half a year can make the body's immune function and complement system to identify viruses earlier, more beneficial to remove viruses, but this effect is weakened after half a year; when admission, C3, C4, COVID-19 IgG level and lymphocyte counts can be used to predict hospitalization time in COVID-19 patients.

Objective To investigate the clinic characters and diagnosis of superficial siderosis in the central nervous system (SSCN).Methods One patient was systematically studied by the authors. Results SSCN was a rare entity, resulting in the deposition of ferric pigments and ions on the surface of the central nervous system. The clinical features included progressive sensorineural hearing loss, cerebellar ataxia and pyramidal sign, widespread hypointensity band at surfaces of the cerebral or cerebellar hemispheres, the brain stem and the spinal cord on Gradient Echo T_2~*-weighted images (GRE-T_2~* WI) of MR,elevation of the levels of ferritin in the cerebrospinal fluid. Conclusions This disease can be identified at early stage with history and physical examination.GRE-T_2~* WI and some related cerebrospinal fluid tests will contribute to diagnosis.
