Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 2006;0(14):-
Objective To explore the effects of various dosage and multiple course of Dexamethasone(DEX) on the expressions of WNTs,?-catenin and glycogen synthase kmase-3?(GSK-3?) genes in the lung of premature rats on the 19th day of embryo. Methods Twelve pregnant SD rats were divided into 3 groups randomly:small dose DEX group, large dose DEX group and control group with 4 rats in each group. The rats in control group were injected with saline 9 g/L;rats in small dose DEX group were injected with DEX 0.4 mg/(kg?d),and the rats in large dose DEX group were injected with DEX 0.8 mg/(kg?d) after DEX was diluted to 0.5 mL with saline. On the 19th day of gestation, fetuses were surgically taken out.The reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction PCR method was used to detect expressions of WNT7b,WNT5a,WNT2,GSK-3? and ?-catenin genes mRNA.Results The expressions of WNT7b(0.55?0.19,0.64?0.54)and ?-catenin(2.03?0.58,2.40?0.89)genes mRNA in small dose DEX group and large dose DEX group were significantly higher than those of control group(WNT7b:0.18?0.10,?-catenin:1.77?0.54)(Pa

As a novel research tool in the field of the spinal biomechanics, the finite element method (FEM) complements and verifies the traditional research methods, which has been attached increasingly greater importance. In this paper, we briefly introduce the achievement made in the field of spinal biomechanics by FEM in the past decade, summarize the physiological and pathological behaviors of various spinal anatomical parts described by FEM, and present the basic view of using FEM to optimize the surgery instrument design.

Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University(Medical Science) 2006;0(01):-
The role of bracing for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, which came into application in 1960's,has long been controversial. There are various brace instrument with different reported effectiveness. In this paper,we summarize the research findings and main views in the effectiveness of bracing for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis in the past ten years, and explore the possible causes leading to the different results.Besides,we are trying to point out the research trend,in hope of drawing a scientific conclusion on the effectiveness of bracing treatment in the near future.

BACKGROUND:Recent studies have demonstrated that surgical trauma leads to lipid peroxidation in erythrocytes. However, injured erythrocytes play an important role in thrombosis following replacement.OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the influence of artificial total knee replacement on the lipid peroxdation in erythrocytes, and the prophylactic treatment of vitamin E and fructose 1,6 diphosphate(FDP)on it.DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:Contrast clinical study, which was carried out in the Department of Otthopaedics,Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University from January 2003 to June 2006.PARTICIPANTS:Sixty patients with knee osteoarthritis who underwent artificial total knee replacement by anesthesia of epidural block were divided into four groups, including control group, vitamin E group,FDP group and vitamin E+FDP group, with 15 cases in each group.METHODS:Vitamin E was orally taken in the vitamin E group three days before replacement, three times a day,100 mg for each. The administration was performed until the surgical morning.Thirty minutes after the operation,FDP(10 g)was intravenously dripped in the FDP group.Additionally.vitamin E was also orally taken in the vitamin E+FDP group three days before replacement, three times a day,100 mg for each;on the surgical morning,FDP(10 g)was intravenously dripped on the first 30minutes.Blood samples were taken for biochemical determination before and after the operation at 1,3,5,and 7 days.MAIN OUTCOME M[EASURES:Corltents of malonaldehyde(MDA)and cuprum/zincum/superoxide dismutase (Cu-Zn-SOD)in the erythrocytes.RESULTS:MDA level in the vitamin E group and FDP group was significantly higher than that in the vitamin E+FDP group before and 5 and 7 days after replacement(P<0.05);while,Cu-Zn-SOD level was significantly lower(P<0.05).Otherwise,there were no significant differences in vitamin E+FDP group before and after replacement(P>0.05).CONCLUSION:The artificial total knee replacement can enhance lipid peroxidation and decrease antioxygen capability. However, the combination of vitamin E and FDP can prevent and relieve lipid peroxidation and antioxygen capability after replacement.

The assessments of oocyte quality were usually needed in assisted reproductive technology and reproduction science.Based upon the changes of structure and biochemistry in the development of oocyte, assessments of oocyte quality mainly comprised the oocyte morphology and its maturity. The assessment method of oocyte quality from nondestructive manner and invasive technique to provide multi-pathway for evaluating the oocyte quality reasonable was discussed.

Objective To investigate the expression of extracellular matrix metalloproteinase inducer (EMMPRIN) in pancreatic cancer and its relationship with P-glycoprotein (P-gp) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF),and to study its correlation with invasion, metastasis and drug re- sistance. Methods The expressions of EMMPRIN,P-gp and VEGF in 34 cases of pancreatic cancer were detected by immunohistochemistry. The correlation analysis and Chi squared test were been used by SPSS 10.0.Results The positive rates of EMMPRIN,P-gp and VEGF in pancreatic cancer were 61.8%,55.9% and 64.7% respectively.EMMPRIN,P-gp and VEGF were associated with lymph node metastasis (P<0.05),but not associated with sex, age, size of tumor and degree of differentia- tion (P>0.05).There were close relationship between EMMPR1N and P-gp,VEGF respectively (r= 0.398,r=0.432,P<0.05).Conclusions EMMPRIN,P-gp and VEGF were higher expressed in pancreatic cancer.EMMPRIN express was correlated with both P-gp and VEGF.It has indicated that during the progression of pancreatic cancer, there are close relationship between invasion, metastasis and drug resistance, and EMMPRIN may play key role in this process.

Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of oral Sarpogrelate hydrochloride in the treatment of chronic arterial ischemia of the lower extremities. Methods In this study 892 patients, who suffered from arteriosclerosis (ASO) or thromboangiitis obliterans ( TAO ) or diabetic foot ( DF ),with symptoms of intermittent claudication, sensation of cold, pain, ulcer, and without a history of vasotransplantation or bypass grafting or interventional therapy, were treated by taking Sarpogrelate hydrochloride tablets 100 mg tid for consecutive 8 weeks. The improvement rate of concomitant symptoms and the total effective rate of ASO, TAO, DF were evaluated.Drug adverse reaction were recorded. Results The improvement rate of intermittent claudication, sensation of cold, pain and ulcer were 96.9%,97.1%,89.0% and 86.9% respectively. The total effective rate for ASO,TAO,DF was 83.5%.A total of 81 cases (9.1%) reported mild side effects, including 7 patients with mild rash after 2- 5 days' medication,21 patients with mild nausea and 53 patients with stomach discomfort after 1 - 2 days' medication.Symptoms were managed conservatively without discontinuing taking sarpogrelate hydrochloride. Conclusions Sarpogrelate hydrochloride oral is a safe and effective therapy for chronic arterial ischemia diseases of the lower extremities.
