Objective To observe the expressions of Slug, BRAF V600E and STIP1 proteins in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), and to explore their correlation with capsular invasion and regional lymph node metastasis. Methods Slug, BRAF V600E and STIP1 expressions in 107 cases of differentiated PTC were examined by immunohistochemical staining. The expressions of three proteins and clinicopathological data were statistically analyzed. Results Positive rates of Slug, BRAF V600E and STIP1 in PTC were 65.4 % (70/107), 61.7 % (66/107) and 66.4 % (71/107), respectively, and overexpression of Slug, BRAF V600E and STIP1 was significantly associated with capsular invasion and regional lymph node metastasis in PTC (P< 0.05). There are a significant correlation between expression of Slug and BRAF V600E in PTC (r= 0.235, P< 0.05). Conclusion Overexpression of Slug, BRAF V600E and STIP1 proteins is associated with capsular invasion and regional lymph node metastasis in PTC, which maybe useful for predicting regional lymph node metastasis and prognostic evaluation.

ObjectiveTo investigate the necessary of letting the intelligent knee joint be adaptive to the road terrain and the key technology of knee moment control method. MethodsBased on data from gait analysis and the dynamic model of lower limb, the knee moments while people walking on the path of different terrain were obtained. Terrain identification method was based on the features of electromyography(EMG) signals of the thigh, and the EMG of some muscles was detected. The methods were applied to an intelligent trans-femoral prosthesis developed for tests in the laboratory.ResultsConsiderable variation of the knee moments appeared when people walking on the path of different terrain,as well as that of the features of EMG of some muscles.ConclusionIt is necessary to make the intelligent knee joint be adaptive to the road terrain, and it is possible to be achieved with satisfied motion of the leg and the trajectory of ankle joint by the intelligent transfemoral prosthesis being studied which can identify the features of EMG signals.

Objective To study the balance function of normal persons and to explore the differences in gender and age groups. Methods Forty parameters of 445 normal persons(16-70 years old, 205 of male, 240 of female ) were detected by static posturography while they were in seat, double foot standing with opening and closing eyes, and single foot standing with opening eyes. The results of male and female, standing with opening eyes and closing eyes, left foot standing and right foot standing were compared. Results Everyone's center of gravity was distributed in A zone while they were in seat. At standing with opening eyes and closing eyes, the center of gravity in A zone were in 429 subjects( 96.4%) and 436 subjects( 98.0%). Most parameters showed significant difference between the women and the men, opening eyes and closing eyes, left foot standing and right foot standing, different age groups. The stability in closing eyes was better than that in opening eyes, right foot standing was better than left foot standing. Most values of 20—39 years old group were the best, 70—79 years old group were the worst. Conclusion Static posturography can evaluate human balance function objectively and quantitatively. The stability is related to age and gender. To judge the balance function, the subject's age and sex must be taken into account.

Objective To explore the clinical significance of Slug expression in papillary thyroid carci-noma(PTC). Methods Employed Ventana immunohistochemistry assay to determine the expression of Slug in 107 cases of PTC and para-tumorous normal tissue. The relationship with Slug expression in PTC and clinico-pathology data were also analyzed. Results Expression of Slug in PTC (65.4%, 70/107)and para-tumorous nor-mal tissue (14.0%,15/107)were statistically different (P < 0.001). Overexpression of Slug in PTC was signifi-cantly associated with capsular invasion and lymph node metastasis (P < 0.05). Conclusion Overexpression of Slug in PTC is associated with capsular invasion and lymph node metastasis , these may suggest some clinical significance of Slug expression in PTC in predicting lymph node metastasis and prognosis.
