Objective To explore the risk factors and protective factors for stomach cancer in Ganyu county. Methods Data of 319 pairs of new stomach cancer cases and health controls(1:1 matched)were studied by conditional Logistic regression method on the influential factors. Results The main risk factors for stomach cancer were the habits of eating hot foods(OR= 2.21,95%CI:1.57~3.12),the history of upper gastrointestinal inflammation(4.26,2.59~7.03),family history of cancer(2.29, 1.37~3.82);The main protective factors were often eating raw garlic(OR=0.64,95%CI:0.42~0.96),regular drinking tea(0.37, 0.25~0.54).Conclusion Unhealthy dietary habits, the history of upper gastrointestinal inflammation and family history of cancer are related to stomach cancer, while eating raw garlic and regular drinking tea may be effective in preventing the occurrence of stomach cancer. The results could be applied in stomach cancer prevention activities in Ganyu county.
3. Classification of Chinese materia medica with anti-infection
Chinese Traditional and Herbal Drugs 2015;46(24):3771-3778
The medicinal science has been plagued by drug resistance of bacteria and antibiotic medicine with side effect for years. The problem could not be solved only by the chemistry medicine treatment. For thousand years, Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) had made a significant contribution to people's health and has played an important role in preventing and controlling bacterial infection in the near centuries. As wide sources, less side effect, and less resistant to bacterial, TCM drew a great attention in anti-infection recently. Following the literature and clinic trial reports in the lastest 15 years, we summarized the studies on the bacteria-resistance and therapy of traditional Chinese and Western medicines, and analysed the researches on the antibacterial effects of compound TCM, single Chinese herbs, and chemical components from herbs. The results will provide the new ideas on the application and development of TCM with anti-infection.

Objective To evaluate diagnostic value of X-ray computed tomography(CT) neck masses in children. Methods Clinic, pathologic diagnosis and CT scans of 26 patients from Jan.2004 to Jun.2006 with neck masses which location, density, edge and near construction were reviewed retrospectively. Results Seven cases in neck anterior area,13 cases in neck lateral area,6 cases in other areas or unconfirmed.Eight cases with lower density than cervical muscles,2 cases with same density,2 cases with higher density,14 cases with mixed density.Inflammatory masses were observed in 13 cases, congenital malformation in 11 cases, thyroiditis in 1 case, pharyngeal tumor-like proliferation in 1 case. Conclusion CT scan is the best choice of diagnosis of neck masses in children, and is valuable to diagnosis associated with history and physical examination.

ObjectiveTo investigate the effective approach for the treatment of detrusor underactivity. Methods98 patients with detrusor underactivity were randomly divided into electrotherapy group (electroacupuncture, interference current stimulation, n=32), medicine group (n=32) and electrotherapy-medicine group (n=34). The patients were assessed with examination of urodynamics and clinical parameters before and after treatment. ResultsThe detrusor strength were stronger after treatment in all the 3 groups (P<0.001), but electrotherapy-medicine group was more stronger than the other 2 groups (P<0.01). The cure rate in the 3 groups were 68.75%, 59.38% and 88.23% respectively, the patients in electrotherapy-medicine group gained significantly better results than the other 2 groups (x2=9.976, P<0.01). The difference of cure rate between the electrotherapy group and the medicine group was not significant (P>0.05). ConclusionElectric stimulation therapy combined with medicine is an effective intervention for treatment of detrusor underactivity and is better than electric stimulation therapy or drugs only.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of oligochitosan in promoting intestinal absorption of protoberberine alkaloids in extracts from Corydalis saxicola total alkaloids.
METHODThe in vitro single-pass intestinal perfusion model in rats was established to study the changes in absorption kinetic parameters of dehydrocavidine, berberine hydrochloride and palmatine chloride in C. saxicola total alkaloids after the addition of different concentrations oligochitosan and evaluate the effect of oligochitosan in promoting intestinal absorption of the drugs.
RESULTThe concentration of oligochitosan had different effects on the absorption rate constant (Ka) and apparent permeability coefficient (Peff) of the three active component in rat intestines. Ka and Peff in 0.5% oligochitosan group significantly increased, indicating a stronger effect in promoting the absorption.
CONCLUSIONOligochitosan has a certain effect in promoting the intestinal absorptions of protoberberine alkaloids in C. saxicola total alkaloids.

Objective To investigate the pregnancy outcomes of couples with either maternal or paternal balanced translocations. Methods One hundred and ninety-four couples were divided into three groups based on the kind of translocations:135 with reciprocal translocation,52 with nonhomologous Robertsonian translocations, and 7 with homologous Robertsonian translocations.Past reproductive histories were surveyed. For those who wanted to have their own babies by natural conceptions after knowing their karyotypes as well as the risks of abnormal offsprings, subsequent pregnancy outcomes were recorded.Total pregnancy outcomes were compared between three groups.Results(1)503 previous and subsequent pregnancies were recorded in detail. The pregnancy outcomes are as follows:spontaneous abortions 81.7% (411/503);induced terminations because of fetal abnormalities 3.2%(16/503);birth defects 7.2% (36/503);normal/balanced offsprings 8.0%(40/503).In reciprocal translocations, nonhomologous Robertsonian translocations and homologous Robertsonian translocations, the birth defects rates were 5.7% (20/350),10.9%(14/128)and 8.0%(2/25),respectively(P

Objective To examine the composition and distribution of animal reservoir of plague in Quanzhou city, Fujian province, and so as to accumulate basic data for making the plague prevention and control measures. Methods Rodents were captured by cages in six monitoring spots of Quanzhou city between 2000 and 2009. Then rodents and flea species were identified. Rats liver and spleen homogenates were detected of plague F1 antigen by reverse indirect hemagglutination test (RIHA); rats serum were detected of plague F1 antibody by indirect hemagglutination test (IHA). ResultsA total of 26 264 rodents were captured between 2000 and 2009.Rattus norvegicus and Rattus flavipectus were dominant species, which were accounted for 45.97% (12 074/26 264)and 32.01%(8407/26 264), respectively. The account of Rattus flavipectus captured between 2005 and 2009 was (26.99 ± 2.46)% and (37.03 ± 3.79)% between 2000 and 2004. The difference was statistically significant (t =4.97, P < 0.05). Total rodent densities was (6.86 ± 1.44)%, including(5.36 ± 1.83)% in mountains and (6.81 ±1.66)% in coastal areas, respectively, and the difference was not statistically significant(t =1.01, P > 0.05). Total flea index and flea infection rate of rodents were 1.39 ± 0.34 and (35.90 ± 5.34)%, respectively. Xenopsylla Cheopis index was 1.20 and free flea index was 0.009. Flea infection rate was (32.36 ± 0.96)% between 2005 and 2009, which was lower than (39.44 ± 0.39)% between 2000 and 2004(t =2.76, P < 0.05). ConclusionsThe major rodent species found in Quanzhou city is Rattus norvegicus. Xenopsylla Cheopis is the dominant flea species.Spreading of plague among Rattus is not found.
