In the 1960s, modern science began involving the essence of heat syndrome, but there have still no in-depth systematic studies on pathological mechanisms of heat syndrome and action mechanisms of cold and cool herbs. In this study, the animal model with heat syndrome was set up by feeding herbs with hot property, and then cold and cool herbs was applied in the experimental therapy. The two-dimensional electrophoresis and mass spectrometry technologies were adopted to compare the liver mitochondria proteome of the rats of the heat syndrome model and the ones treated with cold and cool herbs, so as to discover specificity-related proteins after heat syndrome and treatment with cold and cool herbs.

OBJECTIVETo assess therapeutic effect of acupuncture at Jiaji (EX-B 2) on hyperosteogeny of lumbar vertebrae.

METHODSSeventy-two cases were treated with Huatuo jiaji (EX-B 2) of L2 approximately L5 as main acupoints, and their clinical therapeutic effects were assessed with Oswestry Disability Index (ODI).

RESULTSODI was 0.562 +/- 0.199 before treatment and 0.123 +/- 0.196 after treatment with a significant difference before and after treatment (P<0.01), and the effective rate was 94.4%.

CONCLUSIONAcupuncture at Jiaji (EX-B 2) can improve functional activity for the patient of hyperosteogeny of lumbar vertebrae.

AIM: To measure the macular thickness of normal young people by 3D 1000 optical coherence tomography (OCT) and study the repeatability of measuring results and the relationship between the thicknesses of macular and gender. At the same time, to compare our result with the data of other types of OCT, and to understand the consistency of the measuring results of macular thickness of different types of OCT.
METHODS: Totally 222 eyes in 111 young people were detected using 3D scan mode of Topcon 3D OCT 1000 (ver 2.4 ) . Twelve cases ( 24 eyes ) underwent repeatability check. We took transverse comparison between our measured results with other research's results.
RESULTS: There were 111 cases of young people, whose age were from 18-27 years old, all uncorrected and corrected visual acuity were≥1. 0, all intraocular pressure were <21mmHg. The average thickness of all macular region was 273. 32±17.08μm. Retinal volume of macular area was 7. 73 ± 0.37mm3 . Center thickness was 161 -264μm, and the average thickness was 200. 13±18. 81μm. Central macular thickness were 188 - 273μm, and the average thickness was 229. 00 ± 18. 20μm. The central macular thickness in men was significantly greater than that in women, and there was statistical difference. The results of repeated check of 12 cases ( 24 eyes ) in the macular area were no statistical difference except the outer ring of nasal quadrant, and the repeatability of average thickness in central macular thickness was better than in center thickness.
CONCLUSION:The repeatability of macular examination is good. The central macular thickness can be better repeated than the center thickness. The central macular thickness is 229. 00±18. 20μm in young people, according to the 3D 1000 OCT measurements. There are statistical difference of central macular thickness between different genders.

70% to 80% of people with diabetes died from cardiovascular complications, which had become the leading cause of death in diabetic patients. Cardiovascular complications in diabetic patients are mainly associated with vascular endothelial dysfunction and poor neovascularization. Its important influencing factors are changes in the number of endothelial progenitor cells and dysfunction. Hyperglycemia in diabetic patients can cause endothelial progenitor cell dysfunction, inhibit its proliferation ability, angiogenesis ability and paracrine effect. In order to provide research ideas for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular complications in diabetic patients, this article aims to review the relevant mechanism of the effect of hyperglycemia on the number and function of endothelial progenitor cells in patients with diabetes, and the application of endothelial progenitor cells in the treatment of diabetic cardiovascular disease.

Objective To analyze the clinical speciality of invasive fungal infection(IFI)and provide doctors with clinical evidence for early anti-fungal therapy.Method One hundred and thirty-seven patients with 91 male and 46 female,who suffered from invasive fungal infection in ICU from January.1,2000 to June 30, 2006,were enrolled in this study.The age ranged from 17 to 82 years old.Out of 137 patients with IFI,the percentage of albicans candida,glabirate candida,tropicalis candida and parapsilosis candida were 47.4%, 26.3%,20.4% and 3.6%,reseparately.The sputum,urine,blood and other drainages were collected to perform the fungal examination after three days of admission every three days.Results Of 137 patients,42 of them were complicated with hemorrhage,53 patients with IFI developed candida anthema in the chest,abdomen and extremity.,49 patients suffering from IFI had organ dysfunction.The chest image revealed that infiltration caused by IFI especially occurred in apex of lung in some patients.The pathogen analysis displayed that albicans candidiasis easily developed candida anthema,glabirate candidiasis frequently resulted in organ dysfunction,and tropicalis candida led to hemorrhage in some organs.Conclusions The clinical specialty,of IFI caused by candida included hemorrhage,candida anthema,organ dysfunction,and infiltration in apex of lung.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effects of Yinian Jiangya (YNJY) Decoction contained serum on cell proliferation of primary cultured endothelial cells of spontaneously hypertensive rat (SHR) and the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma (PPAR-gamma) mRNA expression in the cells.

METHODSSD rats were fed with high-lipid diet and different doses (high, medium and low, containing crude drug of 5.2 g/mL, 2.6 g/mL, 1.3 g/mL respectively) of YNJY respectively and the serum contained different doses of YNJY (S-YNJY) was prepared by collecting the rats' serum after 20 days of feeding. The serum obtained from SD rats fed with normal diet, i.e. drug free serum (S-free) was taken for control. Primary cultured endothelial cells of SHR were treated respectively with S-YNJY in different doses (treated groups) and S-free (control group), the cell activity and the mRNA expression of PPAR-gamma in cells of all groups were detected by MTT and RT-PCR respectively at different time points: 2, 4, 8, 16 and 24 h after treatment.

RESULTSMTT test showed that at time points of 4 and 8 h, the OD value raised in the treated groups with insignificant difference among them (P>0.05), but was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05); at 16 h, it increased but showed a smaller increment in the medium-dose treated group (P<0.05); at 24 h, it decreased in all groups, but the decrement in the high- and medium-dose treated groups was more remarkable (P<0.05); at 48 h, it decreased continuously, with the decrement more significant in the high-dose group than in the control group (P<0.05). RT-PCR detection showed that at 4 h, the expression of PPAR-gamma mRNA was not changed significantly in all groups (P>0.05); at 8 h, it was remarkably lower in high-dose group than in others (P<0.05); at 16 h, it was higher in the three treated groups than in the control group (P<0.05), with a highest level shown in the high-dose treated group (P<0.01); at 24 h, the expression decreased in all groups, but the level in the low-dose treated group was still higher than that in the control group (P<0.05).

CONCLUSIONSYNJY Decoction shows a two-way regulation on endothelial cells proliferation, and which is negatively dose-dependent in the late stage. The regulation is perhaps relevant to the regulating of the PPAR-gamma mRNA expressions. The PPAR-gamma mRNA expression up-regulating and maintaining effects of YNJY Decoction may be one of the mechanisms for its vascular endothelial cell protection and blood pressure suppressing.

OBJECTIVE This study aimed to optimize polysaccharides extraction from Urena lobata L.and investigate its antioxidant activity.METHODS The mathematical model was established by re-sponse surface method (RSM) based on the results of single factor experiments, using polysaccha-rides extraction rate as response value,and using the ratio of water to material,cellulase concentra-tion,extraction temperature and time as experimental factors,which was used to screen optimum poly-saccharide extraction conditions from Urena lobata L.. Antioxidant activity of polysaccharides was stud-ied by DPPH and ·OH free radical elimination method. RESULTS The optimum conditions obtained by RSM were as follows:the cellulase level was 10.8 g·L-1,extraction time duration was 72 min,the ra-tio of water to feedstock was 7 mL·g-1,extraction temperature was 43℃,the pH value was 5.0.Under the optimal conditions, there was a difference of less than 5％ between predicted extraction rate 13.37％ and experimental extraction rate 13.32％. The polysaccharide yield was most significantly af-fected by cellulase concentration,followed by extraction time,water to material ratio and extraction tem-perature.IC50of DPPH and·OH were 1.082 g·L-1and 3.202 mg·L-1,respectively.Antioxidant activity of sample polysaccharides was weaker than those of vitamin C. CONCLUSION The polysaccharide extraction process from Urena lobata L. by cellulase enzymolysis approach was obtained, which was convenient and feasible,and extracted polysaccharides had good free radical scavenging activity.
