OBJECTIVE:
To design and manufacture a new type instrument and its matching tools for the proximal femur.
METHODS:
A new type instrument of subtrochanterical fracture-static 3-dimensional screw-plate system(STDSP)was designed and manufactured. The different types of accessory instruments which adapted to STDSP,the aiming guide, and the accessory tools were also designed and manufactured, and they were tested on bones.
RESULTS:
STDSP included 3 special lag screws and 1 anatomic plate. The lag screws distributed in femoral neck like "or"shape. There was 135 degree between the lag screws and femoral shaft. The shape of the plate was similar to the anatomic structure of the proximal thighbone. The posterior screw was stably connected to the plate. The plate was affixed crosswise to the lateral and anterior side by bicortical screws. The aiming guides and all kinds of accessory tools could help to install STDSP exactly and conveniently, which was verified on cadavers and X-ray photographs.
CONCLUSION
STDSP has the function of dynamic compressing in 3-dimensional space, and can match with the structure of the proximal femur preferably. STDSP may be a suitable instrument to the subtrochanteric fractures. The accessory apparatus of STDSP has simple configuration, and can let the STDSP be installed accurately, conveniently and rapidly.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the method of large-scale screening for genes differentially expressed in nonfunctional pituitary tumor and normal pituitary. Methods: cDNA libraries of nonfunctional pituitary tumor (NFPT) and human normal pituitary were constructed. Large-scale sequencing, bioinformatics and semi-quantitative reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) were used. Significant difference of known genes expression in 2 tissues were analyzed by statistical software offered by Audic S and Claverie JM (http: //igs-server.cnrs-mrs.fr/). Results: A total of 1253 and 7222 ESTs with good quality were obtained from the tissues of NFPT and normal pituitary, respectively. Two hundred known genes were found in NFPT. Among them, 38 genes creditability of significant difference expression in the 2 tissues were over 0.99, and 130 were over 0.95. Out of the 130 differentially expressed genes in the 2 tissues, 17 genes were associated with cell differentiation and development (G2). 6 differentially expressed G2 category genes were selected and the liability of the expression significant difference in the 2 tissues was confirmed by semi-quantitative RT-PCR. Out of them, 4 were confirmed differentially expressed in the 2 tissues. Conclusion: MEIS2, SMT3C, C1D, and BUB3 genes associated with cell differentiation and development (G2) were expressed more in nonfunctional pituitary tumor than in normal pituitary. They may play a role in the pathogenesis of nonfunctional pituitary carcinoma.

AIMTo develop a high throughput screening assay to identify inhibitors of intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) expression in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC).
METHODSICAM-1 expression in lipopolysaccharide-stimulated endothelial cells was measured by ELISA. The cytotoxicity of the compounds was measured by MTT.
RESULTSLipopolysaccharide (LPS) increased ICAM-1 expression in HUVEC in a concentration- and time-dependent manner. Two thousand compounds were screened and the hit rate was 1.5%. Among these 30 compounds, 24 were cytotoxic.
CONCLUSIONThe ELISA method was inexpensive, reproducible and suitable for high throughput primary cell assay. This assay was feasible to identify inhibitors of ICAM-1 and simultaneously discriminate the activity from the cytotoxic effects.

OBJECTIVETo study the effects of ulinastatin on coagulation in children who underwent open-heart surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB).
METHODSFifty children who underwent open-heart surgery for ventricular septal defect were randomly divided into two groups: ulinastatin treatment and control. Before CPB, ulinastatin (1.0×10(4) U/kg) was added to CPB priming fluid only in the ulinastatin treatment group. Activated partial thromboplasin time (APTT), prothrombin time (PT), thrombin time (TT), fibrinogen and international normalized ratio (INR) were measured both before and at 1 hr, 6 hrs and 24 hrs after CPB.
RESULTSThe PT in the ulinastatin group was more prolonged than in the control group at 1 hr after CPB (18.7 ± 0.7 s vs 15.5 ± 0.5 s) and 6 hrs after CPB (17.5 ± 0.6 s vs 15.0 ± 0.6 s). The APTT in the ulinatatin group was also significantly more prolonged than in the control group at 6 hrs after CPB (38.7 ± 3.1 s vs 35.3 ± 3.1 s) and 24 hrs after CPB (34.2 ± 3.0 s vs 31.1 ± 2.6 s).
CONCLUSIONSUlinastatin may prolong PT and APTT after CPB, and thus affects coagulation in children.

Journal of Zhejiang University. Science. B 2005;6(11):1135-1140
This paper reports the surface morphology and I-V curves of porous silicon (PS) samples and related devices. The observed fabrics on the PS surface were found to affect the electrical property of PS devices. When the devices were operated under different external bias (10 V or 3 V) for 10 min, their observed obvious differences in electrical properties may be due to the different control mechanisms in the Al/PS interface and PS matrix morphology.

Journal of Preventive Medicine 2021;33(4):332-336
Objective:
To evaluate the impact of coronavirus disease 2019 ( COVID-19 ) prevention and control measures in Huzhou on influenza epidemic strength and characteristics in 2020, so as to provide reference for formulating influenza prevention measures.
Methods:
Using the influenza surveillance data of the national influenza sentinel surveillance system from January 2015 to July 2020, the seasonal characteristics of influenza epidemic were analyzed, the proportion of influenza-like illness cases ( ILI% ) and the positive rate of influenza virus in January to July of 2020 were compared with those of the same period in 2015-2019, in order to evaluate the impact of COVID-19 prevention and control measures.
Results :
The ILI% and the positive rate of influenza virus in Huzhou were 3.90% and 15.32% during 2015-2019, while were 4.41% and 12.63% from January to July of 2020. The trends of ILI% during 2015-2019 fluctuated similar, but continued to drop since January 2020. The positive rate of influenza virus peaked from December to March in 2015-2019, also peaked from December 2019 to January 2020, but decreased to 0 in March. ILI% was positively correlated with the positive rate of influenza virus ( r=0.682, P<0.05). The growth rates of ILI% from January to July 2020 were 4.75%, -11.27%, 0.68%, 19.84% and 0.92%, compared with the same period of 2015-2019, respectively. The growth rates of ILI% in January 2020 were much higher ( >57.00% ) and from April to July were much lower ( <-33.00% ) . The growth rates of influenza virus positive rate from January to July 2020 were -47.96%, -36.53%, -3.44%, -35.92% and -39.37%, compared to the same period of 2015-2019, respectively. The growth rates of influenza virus positive rate in January 2020 were much higher ( >11.00% ) and from February to March were much lower ( <-61.00% ).
Conclusion
Since COVID-19 prevention and control measures were implemented in January 2020 in Huzhou, the ILI% and the positive rate of influenza virus in sentinel hospitals decreased significantly.
