Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 2006;0(16):-
Objective To evaluate the characters of respiratory function in children with chronic cough and explore the correlative association between cough variant asthma(CVA) and etiology of chronic cough. Methods One hundred and forty patients with chronic cough were divided into 2 groups based on peak expiratory flow(PEF) or forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV1).Ninty-three cases were done exercise test and 47 cases were done bronchoditor rest. The parameters included forced vital capacity(FVC),FEV1,PEF,forced expiratory flow at 50% and 75%(FEF50,FEF75).Results The measurement 35 cases with positive bronchoditor rest, and 30 cases with positive exercise test were found. The PEF and FEV1 variation rate were(18.30?10.50)%,(18.78?9.44)% in exercise test groups,and(30.36?27.27)%,(36.13?26.83)% in bronchoditor rest groups, respectively. Conclusions FEV1,PEF may be used as markers for the reversibility of airway obstructe in children with CVA.There is significant correlation between PEF and FEV1.Respiratory function mensurate may reflect the change and degree of inflammation in the airway of children with chronic cough.

Objective:To investigate the molecular interaction between non-structural protein 3 serine protease of hepatitis C virus(HCV)and wild type P53,and to lay the basis for elucidating the mechanism of oncogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)after infection of HCV.Methods:The recombinant plasmids,pGAD424-NS3,pGAD424-NS315aa- and pGAD424-NS330aa-,were constructed and the interaction between NS3 serine protease and its cofactor NS4A,the interaction between wild type P53 and NS3 serine protease and its N-truncated mutants were dectected qualitatively and quantitatively in yeast two-hybrid system. Results:The results indicated that interaction existed not only between full-length NS3 serine protease and P53,but also between N-truncated mutants of NS3 serine protease and P53.Furthermore,the difference between enzyme activity unit(IU)of β-gal induced by these interactions was not significant(P>0.05).Conclusions:NS3 serine protease of hepatitis C virus and its N-truncated mutants can interact with wild type P53,and the region of NS3 serine protease involved in the interaction may be located in its C-terminal,but not in its N-terminal.

Objective To determine the effect of histotype and histodifferentiation on the maximum standardized uptake value (SUV_(max)) of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) ~(18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) PET/CT imaging. Methods Two hundred and sixty patients with NSCLc underwent ~(18)F-FDG PET/CT imaging. They were classified according to (1) histotype:as adenocarcinoma (AC),squamous cell carcinoma(SQC),adenosquamous carcinoma (ASC) and other type carcinoma (OTC),and (2) histodifferentiation:as grade Ⅰ (well-differentiated),grade Ⅱ (moderate-differentiated) and grade Ⅲ (poor-differentiated).The SUV_(max) and size(long diameter)of the primary lesions were measured.Multivariate regression analysis was used to analyze the relationship between the SUV_(max) and variable factors including histotype, histodifferentiation, lesion size, age, sex, body height, body weight, body mass index (BMI),blood glucose level, dose, and rate of dose. Results Two hundred and sixty patients had 260 primary NSCLC tumors. There were 161 AC(15 grade Ⅰ,88 grade Ⅱ,58 grade Ⅲ),74 SQC(6 grade Ⅰ,39 grade Ⅱ,29 grade Ⅲ),15 ASC(7 grade Ⅱ,8 gradeⅢ)and OTC(8 large cell,2 carcinosarcoma).Only lesion size (F=87.046.P<0.001),histodifferentiation (F=87.604,P<0.001) and histotype (F=66.663,P<0.001) were included for multivariate regression analysis with SUV_(max).After adjustment for lesion size, the SUV_(max)(mean and 95%confidence interval) in ascending order was AC Ⅰ:3.3(2.1-4.5),ACⅡ:6.0(5.5-6.6),SQCⅠ:6.1(4.2-8,0),ASC Ⅱ:6.6(4.8-8.4),SQCⅡ.7.8(7.0-8.6),OTC:8.1(6.6-9.6),AC Ⅲ:8.3(7.6-8.9),ASC Ⅲ:8.7(7.0-10.4),and SQC Ⅲ:8.9(8.0-9.8).11he SUV_(max) of AC Ⅰ was significantly lower than that of SQC Ⅰ(q=-2.786,P=0.017),same for AC Ⅱ and SQC Ⅱ(q=-1.776,P<0.001),but no statistically significant differences were found among AC Ⅲ,ASC Ⅲ and SQC Ⅲ(q=-0.593,-0.422,0.171,P=0.288,0.642,0.860,respectively).For the same histotype lesions, the difference of SUV_(max) among AC Ⅰ,Ⅱ and Ⅲ was statistically significant(q=-2.720,-4.943,-2.223,all P<0.001),as also for SQC Ⅰ and Ⅲ(q=-2.751,P=0.012).Conclusion Histotype and histodifferentiation are significant correlative factors for ~(18)F-FDG uptake of NSCLC,with histodifferentiation being the factor with greater impact.

Objective To investigate the dynamic changes of the spinal cord during neck flexion in Hirayama disease for diagnosis. Methods MRI examinations in neutral neck position and a fully flexed neck position were performed on 18 cases of Hirayama disease and 31 young normal control subjects. We measured an antero-posterior diameter(APD)and transverse diameter(TD)of the cervical cord at the superior margin of the C6 vertebral body for each position, and investigate the dynamic changes. The different in frequency of these findings between the control and patient groups was examined by means of the x~2 test. The group means were compared by independent-sample t-test.Significance was defined as P

Objective To evaluate the theraputic effect of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE)for hepatocellular carcinoma with tumor thrombosis of portal vein. Methods One hundred and six patients of hepatocellular carcinoma with tumor thrombosis of portal vein under treament of TACE were observed before and after the procedure. Results After TACE tumor size reduced>50% in 23 patients,<50% in 25, no significant change in 44.The size of tumor enlarged in 12.The disappearance of portal vein tumor thrombosis accessed in 14,with reduction in 39,and no significant change in 51.Two patients died within one week. Conclusion TACE provides good therapeutic effect on hepatocellular carcinoma with tumor thrombosis of portal vein.

Objective To evaluate diagnostic value of X-ray computed tomography(CT) neck masses in children. Methods Clinic, pathologic diagnosis and CT scans of 26 patients from Jan.2004 to Jun.2006 with neck masses which location, density, edge and near construction were reviewed retrospectively. Results Seven cases in neck anterior area,13 cases in neck lateral area,6 cases in other areas or unconfirmed.Eight cases with lower density than cervical muscles,2 cases with same density,2 cases with higher density,14 cases with mixed density.Inflammatory masses were observed in 13 cases, congenital malformation in 11 cases, thyroiditis in 1 case, pharyngeal tumor-like proliferation in 1 case. Conclusion CT scan is the best choice of diagnosis of neck masses in children, and is valuable to diagnosis associated with history and physical examination.
