Objective To observe the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9)/tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1(TIMP-1) in tubulointerstitial fibrosis(TIF) rats and explore the effects of MMP-9 and TIMP-1 in TIF.Methods Forty-eight male Sprague-Dawley(SD) rats were randomly divided into sham-operated group(n=24) and model group(n=24).Results Tubulointerstitial fibrosis model was established via unilateral ureteral obstruction(UUO). Histological changes were observed in tubulointerstitium injury under microscope and immunohistochemistry staining was performed to investigate both the expression of MMP-9 and TIMP-1 in TIF by semiquantitative score at d7, d14, d21 after experiment onset. The expressions of TIMP-1 in rats from sham-operated group were lower than those of mo-del group rats at d7, d14, d21 (Pa

China Biotechnology 2006;0(07):-
The assessments of oocyte quality were usually needed in assisted reproductive technology and reproduction science.Based upon the changes of structure and biochemistry in the development of oocyte, assessments of oocyte quality mainly comprised the oocyte morphology and its maturity. The assessment method of oocyte quality from nondestructive manner and invasive technique to provide multi-pathway for evaluating the oocyte quality reasonable was discussed.

OBJECTIVETo explore the diagnostic value of 3D-indirectmagnetic resonance (MR) arthrography in detecting meniscustears of the knees.
METHODSForm January 2013 to January 2014, routine plain MR of the knees followed by the 3D-indirect MR arthrography was performed in 42 patients with suspected meniscal tears clinically. There were 31 males and 11 females, with an average age of 38.4 years old (ranged, 21 to 67 years old). The duration of the course ranged from 2 h to 15 d. The clinical symptom was knee pain. All the patients got subsequently arthroscopic examination or operation. The sensitivity and specificity of routine plain MR and 3D-indirect MR arthrography were compared based on the results of arthroscopic examination or operation.
RESULTSThe signal intensity in the area of meniscal tears on image of 3D-indirect MR arthrography was obviously higher than that of routine plain MR. The sensitivity of 3D-indirect MR arthrography was 85.79% (87/102), while the routine plain MR was 52.94% (54/102), and the specificity improved from 67.78%(61/90) to 86.67%(78/90). The difference was statistically significant (χ2 = 25.90, P < 0.01; χ2 = 9.13, P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONIn comparison with the routine plain MR findings, 3D-indirect MR arthrography demonstrates meniscus tears of the knee with the better sensitivity and specificity.

Objective To study the life quality of 2 - 3 years old survivors in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Methods Severe neonates were randomly assigned to intervention group (group 1,30 cases) and non- intervention group (group 2,30 cases) depending on the early intervention applied or not,as well as 30 healthy newborns as normal controls. The physical, neurological conditions and intelligence test were taken regularly. To investigate the psychological state, actions, temperament and family conditions when they were2-3 years old. Results Mental development index(MDI) and physical development index(PDI) in early interventional group were significant higher than those in group 2(P

Objective To observe the time-dependent changes of astrocytes and microvessels in the ischemic core and surrounding areas. Methods Glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP)was measured by HE,and CD31 by immunohistochemistry as markers in post-mortem specimens from ten patients, who died of cerebral infarction. Results Each section of the infarcted brains was divided into four areas (the area 0-3).GFAP expressed a little in area 0 and 1,increased in a time-dependent manner in area 2 and 3;CD31 die not expressed in area 0,expressed a little in the area 1,and increased in area 2 and 3 continuously. Conclusions The proliferation of astrocytes and microvessels may play a significant role in the process of restoration after cerebral infarction.

Objective To investigate the changes of serum glycocholicacid(CG),hyaluronic acid(HA),procollagen type Ⅲ(PCⅢ) in neonatal diseases.Method The levels of serum CG,HA and PCⅢ were measured by radioimmunoassay in 46 neonates with different diseases and 20 healthy neonates. Results Serum CG and HA in patients group were significant higher than those in healthy control group(P

OBJECTIVETo investigate the preparation of Shuanghuanglian taste-masking microspheres by spray-drying.
METHODTraced the compounds bitterness source, marked its curve and optimized the microspheres preparation by taking taste evaluation, microspheres yield and inclusion rate as the indexes.
RESULTThe bitter taste of compounds comes from Forsythia suspensa. The best taste-masking material is Eudragit E100. The optimal spray-drying parameters: solvent concentration 2.0%, inlet air temperature 75 degrees C, aspirator 35.0 m3 x h(-1), spray flow 0.35 m3 x h(-1), pump speed 8.0 mL x min(-1).
CONCLUSIONThe spray-drying as a method of masking the traditional Chinese medicine compound taste have advantages of simple process and efficient masking.
