OBJECTIVETo observe analgesic effect of electroacupuncture ( EA) on rats with chronic inflammatory pain and its regulatory mechanism on ispilateral dorsal root ganglion (DRG) and spinal dorsal horn (SDH) Mas-related G protein-coupled C receptor (MrgprC).

METHODSTotally 40 healthy male SD rats were divided into 4 groups according to random number table, i.e., the normal (N) group, the model (M) group, the acupuncture (Acu) group, the EA group, 10 rats in each group. The model of chronic inflammatory pain was established by subcutaneous injecting 0. 1 mL complete Freund's adjuvant (CFA) into right hind paw. Paw withdrawal thresholds (PWTs) were measured before modeling, at day 1, 3, 5, 7, and after CFA injection, respectively. Expression levels of MrgprC in ispilateral DRG and SDH were detected by Western blot. The content of bovine adrenal medulla 22 (BAM22) in SDH was detected by immunohistochemical assay.

RESULTSCompared with N group at each time point, PWTs significantly decreased in M group (P <0. 01). Compared with M group, PWTs significantly increased at day 5 of EA and after EA in EA group (P < 0.05, P < 0.01). Compared with Acu group at each time point, post-EA PWTs significantly increased in the EA group (P < 0.05). Compared with N group, expression of MrgprC in ispilateral DRG and ratio of BAM22 positive cells in ispilateral SDH increased in M group (P < 0.01). Compared with M group, expression of MrgprC in ispilateral DRG and ratio of BAM22 positive cells in ispilateral SDH increased in the EA group (P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONEA had favorable analgesic effect on chronic inflammatory pain induced by CFA, and its mechanism might be possibly associated with up-regulating MrgprC expression in ispilateral DRG and BAM22 content in ispilateral SDH.

OBJECTIVETo design an artificial trachea which can totally heal with the native trachea.

METHODSUsing memory-alloy mesh as the skeleton to construct an artificial trachea by two-stage operation. After 2-year animal experiment we successfully performed the operation in a patient with recurrent carcinoid of the trachea, radically resected the tumor and primarily reconstructed the trachea.

RESULTSThe inner side of this "sandwich" artificial tracheal prosthesis was coated with skin and outside the memory-alloy mesh was muscle and vessel pedicle with good blood supply. The upper and lower anastomosis completely healed with recipient's trachea with a full recovery of trachea. Six-month follow-up showed that the patients resumed their normal life.

CONCLUSIONThe artificial trachea completely healed with the native trachea and became a part of the human trachea. The inner side of artificial trachea is coated with intact native skin tissue with ample blood supply, totally alive without rejection. Therefore, the pedicled artificial tracheal prosthesis is an real artificial trachea.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the surgical therapeutic strategy and prognostic factors for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with mediastinal lymph node metastasis (N2).

METHODSThe survival rate of 117 patients with N2 NSCLC treated surgically from January 1999 to May 2003 were analyzed. There were 88 male cases and 29 female cases, aged from 29 to 79 years. The procedure of operation (lobectomy, pneumonectomy and palliative resection), histological classification (squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, mixed carcinoma, and large cell carcinoma and others), T primary tumor status, and adjuvant therapy were analyzed to determine their impact on the 5-year survival rate.

RESULTSThe median survival time was 22 months, and the over-all 3- and 5-year survival rate was 28.1% and 19.0%. Survival was higher in patients with lobectomy than with palliative resection, with T1 and T2 than with T4. The 5-year survival rate had no deference in age, sex and different histological classification. The 5-year survival rates of lobectomy and pneumonectomy (22.2% and 25.0% respectively) was higher than palliative resection (9.1%).

CONCLUSIONSSurgical procedures (especially lobectomy) is the best choice for N2 NSCLC patients with T1 or T2. But it can not prolong T4 patients' life significantly.

Eleven flavonol glycosides were isolated from the ethanol extract of Lysimachia clethroides by a combination of various chromatographic techniques including column chromatography over silica gel, Sephadex LH-20, and reversed-phase HPLC. Their structures were identified as astragalin (1), isoquercitrin (2), isorhamnetin-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (3), quercetin-3-O-β-D-6"-acetylglucopyranoside (4), quercetin-7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (5), prunin (6), 2-hydroxynaringin-5-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (7), kaempferol-3-O-rutinonoside (8), kaempferol-3-O-robinobioside (9), rutin (10) and kaempferol-3,7-di-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (11). Among them, compounds 4, 7 and 11 were obtained from the Lysimachia genus for the first time, while compounds 3, 5 and 9 were firstly reported from this plant. In the preliminary assays, compounds 2, 6 and 8 possessed significant inhibition against aldose reduc- tase, with IC50 values of 2.69, 1.00, 1.80 μmol · L(-1), respectively; none of compounds 1-11 exhibited obvious cytotoxic activity (IC50 > 10 μmol · L(-1)).

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the association of the histological subtype of lung adenocarcinoma with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation. METHODS: A total of 94 patients with resected lung adenocarcinoma in the Department of Thoracic Surgery of China-Japan Friendship Hospital from January 2010 to December 2014 were enrolled in the study. All specimens were tested for EGFR mutation by a company. In the 94 patients, histological subtypes were classified according to the 2011 International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer and American Thoracic Society and European Respiratory Society classification. We compared the association with the histological subtype of lung adenocarcinoma with EGFR mutation frequency by the χ² test, with SPSS 20.0. RESULTS: The 94 patients of surgically resected lung adenocarcinomas were included in this analysis, of whom, 47 were male and 47 female (male:female=1:1). The median age was 61 (range: 24-79) years, and 48 of the 94 patients were 60 years and above. Regarding the pathological staging, 34 patients were diagnosed as Stage I of the disease, 17 as Stage II,24 as Stage III, and 19 as Stage IV. Among the 51 patients with EGFR mutation, exon 19 mutation was 22, exon 20 mutation was 2, exon 21 mutation was 26, exon 20 and 21 mutation were 1, and the total EGFR mutation rate was 54.3% (51/94). The cases of EGFR gene mutation of acinar predominant lung adenocarcinoma, lepidic predominant lung adenocarcinoma, papillary predominant lung adenocarcinoma, solid predominant lung adenocarcinoma, micropapillary predominant lung adenocarcinoma and mucious adenocarcinoma were 24, 14, 5, 5, 3, and 0, respectively. The rate of EGFR gene mutation of acinar predominant lung adenocarcinoma was higher than that of non-acinar predominant lung adenocarcinom, but there was not statistically significant (66.7% vs. 46.6%, P=0.057). The rate of EGFR gene mutation of solid predominant lung adenocarcinoma was lower than that of non-solid predominant lung adenocarcinom (26.3% vs. 61.3%, P=0.005). The rate of EGFR gene mutation of mucious adenocarcinoma was lower than that of non-mucious adenocarcinom (0 vs. 57.3%, P=0.018). CONCLUSION There is heterogeneity of EGFR mutation in lung adenocarcinoma. The presence of lung adenocarcinoma with acinar indicates a higher EGFR mutation rate, while the solid and mucinous component indicates a lower EGFR mutation rate.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effects of power frequency magnetic field on the Ca2+ transport dynamics of isolated sarcoplasmic reticulum vesicles.

METHODSThe assays of Ca2+ uptake time course and the Ca2+-ATPase activity of sarcoplasmic reticulum vesicles were investigated by using dynamic mode of spectrometry with a Ca2+ dye; Ca2+ release channel activation was examined by 3H-ryanodine binding and Ca2+ release assays; membrane fluidity of sarcoplasmic reticulum vesicles was examined by fluorescence polarization, without or with exposure to the vesicles at a 0.4 mT, 50 Hz sinusoidal magnetic field.

RESULTS0.4 mT, 50 Hz sinusoidal magnetic field exposure caused about a 16% decline of the initial Ca2+ uptake rate from a (29.18 +/- 3.90) pmol.mg(-1).s(-1) to a (24.60 +/- 3.81) pmol.mg(-1).s(-1) and a 26% decline of the Ca2+-ATPase activity from (0.93 +/- 0.05) micromol.mg(-1).min(-1) to (0.69 +/- 0.07) micromol.mg(-1).min(-1) of sarcoplasmic reticulum vesicles, whereas caused a 15% increase of the initial Ca2+ release rate from (4.83 +/- 0.82) pmol.mg(-1).s(-1) to (5.65 +/- 0.43) pmol.mg(-1).s(-1) and a 5% increase in 3H-ryanodine binding to the receptor from (1.10 +/- 0.12) pmol/mg to (1.16 +/- 0.13) pmol/mg, respectively.

CONCLUSIONThe decline of Ca2+-ATPase activity and the increase of Ca2+ release channel activity should result in a down-regulation of Ca2+ dynamic uptake and an up-regulation of Ca2+ release induced by exposing the sarcoplasmic reticulum to a 0.4 mT, 50 Hz power frequency magnetic field.

The investigation on Salvia przewalskii Maxim was carried out to find the relationship of the constituents and their pharmacological activities. The isolation and purification were performed by various chromatographies such as silica gel, Sephadex LH-20, RP-C18 column chromatography, etc. Further investigation on the fraction of the 95% ethanol extract of Salvia przewalskii Maxim yielded przewalskin Y-1 (1), anhydride of tanshinone-II A (2), sugiol (3), epicryptoacetalide (4), cryptoacetalide (5), arucadiol (6), 1-dehydromiltirone (7), miltirone (8), cryptotanshinone (9), tanshinone II A (10) and isotanshinone-I (11). Their structures were elucidated by the spectral analysis such as NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) and MS (Mass Spectrometry). Compound 1 is a new compound. Compounds 4 and 5 are mirror isomers (1 : 3). Compounds 4, 5, 6, 8, 11 were isolated from Salvia przewalskii Maxim for the first time.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the method and effectiveness of rigid-bronchoscopic cryosurgery for advanced central lung cancer.

METHODSForty-eight patients were enrolled in this study from June 2002 to December 2008, including 33 male and 15 female. The average age was 70 years (ranged from 45 to 83 years old). For the 48 patients, 38 cases were patients with advanced central lung cancer who were not suitable for surgery, and the remaining 10 cases were patients with local recurrence in trachea or main bronchus postoperatively. Cryosurgery was performed 120 times for all patients, 2.5 times per patient on average. The trachea or bronchus station, symptom such as dyspnea, hemoptysis, respiratory function and quality of life were observed.

RESULTSThe unblocked ratio of trachea and bronchi was 97%. All patients got satisfied improvement ratio of symptoms, 87.5% for dyspnea, 72.9% for cough, 93.8% for hemoptysis and 62.5% for chest pain. Respiratory function tests showed that both the mean forced expiratory volume in first second and forced vital capacity got an improvement from (1.03+/-0.05) L to (1.85+/-0.13) L and from (1.69+/-0.18) L to (2.96+/-0.14) L respectively (P<0.01). Karnofsky score also got no less than 20 scores improvement. The Follow-up time was 6 to 62 months. The longest survival was 62 months. The median survival time was 20 months. There was no severe perioperative complications and mortality except for 3 cases of moderate exeduation.

CONCLUSIONSCryosurgery is easy to perform with minimal complications. Not only could it provide an effective and rapid control of symptoms caused by central lung cancer, it could also unobstructed bronchus promptly and improve patients' quality of life.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the effectiveness of thymectomy for myasthenia gravis (MG) and the relative risk factors for postoperative myasthenic crisis.

METHODSThe clinic data of 78 cases with MG who underwent thymectomy from June 1985 to June 2005 were analyzed retrospectively. The relative risk factors of postoperative myasthenic crisis were analyzed and the differences between new and old region of perioperative management were compared.

RESULTSThe symptom of MG was complete remission in 21 cases, significantly improved in 38 cases, improved in 11 cases and unchanged in 8 cases, respectively. The symptom duration before operation, preoperative serum level of anti-acetylcholine receptor antibody, Osserman stage and pathological type of thymoma were independent relative risk factors for postoperative myasthenic crisis. The new region of perioperative management was significant better than the old one.

CONCLUSIONSurgical treatment shows significant clinical benefits for patients with MG.

As a Chinese saying goes， "good Chinese medicinal material makes good medicine"， the traceability of Chinese medicinal materials is closely related to the high-quality development of Chinese medicine industry. This article intends to analyze the "new era of smarter food safety blueprint" and Proposed Rule for Food Traceability related to food traceability of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration （FDA）， including food traceability list， critical tracking events， and examples of exemptions. By studying the process and consideration of the construction of the FDA food traceability system， as well as the specific traceability requirements of fresh herbs， vegetables and fruits in the FDA food traceability system that are related to Chinese medicinal materials， on the one hand， it provides research materials for the communication and discussion of Chinese medicinal materials traceability， on the other hand， it also provides reference for the construction of food traceability system in China. To sort out the idea of constructing a traceability system for Chinese medicinal materials suitable for the current development status of traditional Chinese medicine， the contents to be considered are as follows：①To determine the traceability list of Chinese medicinal materials based on the risk control of Chinese medicinal materials. ②Determine the critical tracking links and information in the Chinese medicinal materials industry chain， and standardize the traceability information of Chinese medicinal materials. ③The quality information of Chinese medicinal materials should be reflected in the traceability of Chinese medicinal materials. ④Within the scope of the traceability list of Chinese medicinal materials， enterprises should be encouraged to make voluntary traceability by selecting Chinese medicinal materials with a good foundation of traceability work.
