Through scale-up cultivation of Eriobotrya japonica suspension cells using WAVE bioreactor, the cell growth and ursolic acid (UA) accumulation were studied. The comparison test was carried out in the flask and the reactor with cell dry weight (DW) and UA content as evaluation indexes. The culture medium, DW and UA content were compared in 1 L and 5 L working volumes of bioreactor. The orthogonal test with main actors of inoculation amount, speed and angle of rotation was developed to find the optimal combination, in 1 L working volume of bioreactor. DW of the cell growth and the UA content in bioreactor were higher than those of the shaker by 105.5% and 27.65% respectively. In bioreactor, the dynamic changes of elements in the fluid culture, the dry weight of the cell growth and the UA content in 1 L and 5 L working volumes were similar. Inoculation of 80 g, rotational speed of 26 r · min(-1), and angle of 6 ° was the optimal combination, and the cell biomass of 19.01 g · L(-1) and the UA content of 27.750 mg · g(-1) were achieved after 100 h cultivation in 1 L working volume of bioreactor. WAVE Bioreactor is more suitable than flasks for the E. japonica cell suspension culture, and culture parameters can be achieved from 1 L to 5 L amplification.

AIM:To investigate the clinical effect of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) drugs combined with laser photocoagulation for diabetic macular edema (DME).METHODS: Totally 94 patients (141 eyes) with DME from June to December 2015 in our hospital were selected and randomly divided into combined group of 47 cases (68 eyes, ranibizumab combined with laser therapy) and the control group of 47 cases (73 eyes, laser treatment). The levels of best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), macular central retinal thickness (CRT), total macular volume (TMV) and macular edema level were compared between the two groups at different time after treatment.RESULTS: The mean values of BCVA in the combined group were higher than those in the control group at 2, 6 and 12wk, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).At 2, 6 and 12wk after treatment, the CRT and TMV values of the combined group were lower than those of the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).After treated for 12wk, patients with macular edema of combined group was 80.9% in mild level, 17.7% in moderate level, 1.5% in severe level, those of the control group was 60.0%, 31.5%, 5.5%, the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P<0.05).CONCLUSION: The effect of anti-VEGF drugs combined with laser therapy for DME patients is better than that of single laser therapy alone.

Chinese Journal of Medical Instrumentation 2008;32(6):443-448
This paper introduces five dental X-ray machines which are manufactured with IGBT to realize high frequency, real-time sampling and PWM to ensure the closed-loop control for tube current and Anodes's high voltage. These five machines also use microcomputer and combined X-ray tube for precise control. The sets don't have high voltage outside. The error of tube voltage is less than 1% and exposure time is less than 3%. The photos of pulp cavity and surrounding tissue can be seen clearly. These sets surely meet the requirements of perspective use in clinical.

Journal of Southern Medical University 2009;29(4):807-808
OBJECTIVETo study the relationship between cystatin C and cerebral infarction and explore the role of cystatin C in the protection against cerebral infarction.
METHODEighty-three patients with cerebral infarction and 71 randomly selected age- and gender-matched patients in the Department of Neurology (control group) were enrolled in this study. Fasting whole blood (3 ml) was obtained from the patients in both groups and the sera were separated to determine the levels of cystatin C using particle reinforced immunoturbidimetric assay.
RESULTSThe serum cystatin C level was significantly lower in the cerebral infarction group than in the control group (1.62-/+0.31 vs 2.23-/+0.22 mg/L, P<0.01).
CONCLUSIONSCystatin C is closely related to cerebral infarction probably as a protective factor against cerebral infarction.

Chinese Journal of Cancer 2001;20(6):628-630
Objective:The aim of this study was to investigate the distribution of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) in colorectal cancerous tissue and to evaluate its clinicobiological significance, especially its prognostic value. Methods: Distribution of tissue CEA in 189 patients with colorectal cancer were detected with immunohistochemical method, and its relationship with many clinicopathological parameters was analyzed with SPSS software. Results: CEA distributed in both tumor tissue and normal mucosa but there was a significant difference between them. Staining positive rate of CEA in tumor tissue was 96.3% , with 52.4% strong and 36.5% moderate. While in normal mucosa it was 17.4% , with 16.2% weak and 1.2% moderate. There was a close relationship between tissue CEA and many clinicopathological parameters, such as differentiation, invasion depth, metastasis to regional lymph node, preoperative serum CEA level, postoperative tumor recurrence, metastasis, and postoperative survive. Conclusions: CEA overexpression in colorectal cancer tissue. Tissue CEA is a good prognostic indicator for colorectal cancer reflecting its clinicobiological features. Combining tissue CEA with serum CEA level should be better for predicting prognosis, and patient with both elevated preoperative serum CEA level and strong expression of CEA in tumor tissue indicates the worst prognosis.
