[Objective]Osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures(OVCFs)are commonly multiple fractures and this study is aimed to explore how to determine the symptomatical fractured vertebrae as well as the pitfalls in treating OVCFs using percutaneous vertebroplasty(PVP).[Method]Forty-eight OVCFs patients(78 vertebrae)undergoing PVP were retrospectively analyzed.All the patients had anteroposterior and lateral plain X-rays as well as T1W1,T2W1 and fat-compressing(STIR)MR images preoperatively.The symptomatical fractured vertebrae were determined with combination of regional pain、X-rays and MR images.Of all the patients,36 were injected unilaterally while 12 were injected bilaterally.The mean injected volume of PMMA were 3-7 ml.[Result]The back pain of all the patients were relieved to different degrees postoperatively.The back pain completely disappeared in 30 patients while the left back pain was not improved though the right back pain disappeared in 2 patients who were injected via right approach.The back pain almost disappeared but the bilateral rib pain was not improved in 1 patient with T8 vertebral fracture.No severe complications including pulmonary emboli occurred.[Conclusion]The symptomatical fractured vertebrae should be determined comprehensively not only based on preoperative X-rays but also on the MR images,especially fat-compressing MR images.Only when the fractured vertebrae demonstrate low intensity on T1W1 MR image and high-intensity on T2W1 or fat-compressing MR image can we consider them new fractures.Otherwhise,the fractured vertebrae are considered old fractures and they see no necessity to be injected.The injection should reach the most severely fractured part and if necessary the bilateral approaches are considered.PMMA should be injected after the bone cements are solid enough so as not to develop complications such as pulmonary emboli.

Objective To evaluate the characters of respiratory function in children with chronic cough and explore the correlative association between cough variant asthma(CVA) and etiology of chronic cough.Methods One hundred and forty patients with chronic cough were divided into 2 groups based on peak expiratory flow(PEF) or forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV1).Ninty-three cases were done exercise test and 47 cases were done bronchoditor rest.The parameters included forced vital capacity(FVC),FEV1,PEF,forced expiratory flow at 50% and 75%(FEF50,FEF75).Results The measurement 35 cases with positive bronchoditor rest,and 30 cases with positive exercise test were found.The PEF and FEV1 variation rate were(18.30?10.50)%,(18.78?9.44)% in exercise test groups,and(30.36?27.27)%,(36.13?26.83)% in bronchoditor rest groups,respectively.Conclusions FEV1,PEF may be used as markers for the reversibility of airway obstructe in children with CVA.There is significant correlation between PEF and FEV1.Respiratory function mensurate may reflect the change and degree of inflammation in the airway of children with chronic cough.

ObjectiveTo observe the effect of integrated traditional Chinese medicine therapy on diabetic peripheral neuropathy.Methods22 patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy were as the group of integrated traditional Chinese medicine therapy ,who received Chinese herbal medicine treatment(orally),acupuncture,etc. Other 20 cases were as the control group,disease natural course. The effect of two groups were compared with the means.ResultsThe patients in group of integrated traditional Chinese medicine therapy got obviously better results than that of the control group(P<0.05).ConclusionThe integrated traditional Chinese medicine therapy is effective on diabetic peripheral neuropathy.

Objective To discuss the methods of pre-hospital emergency care and transportation for patients with sudden chest pain. Methods Retrospective analysis was used in this study. The mortality was compared between 36 patients with sudden and deadly chest pain aided by pre-hospital emergency department and 21 patients with similar symptom aided by themselves. Results In indicators containing vital signs, severity of chest pain, mortality, the pre-hospital emergency care group was better than self-rescue group. Conclusions The clinical symptoms of patients with sudden and deadly chest pain are complex. However, professional pre-hospital emergency care can effectively reduce the mortality by closely monitoring, safely and effectively referred.

Objective:To establish a human lung squamous carcinoma cell line and to study its biological characteristics. Methods:Lung squamous carcinoma specimens were freshly resected during operation;the tissues were incubated in vitro and the cell line was named CHLH-1.The biological characteristics of the cells were studied by light microscopy,electron microsco- py,chromosome analysis and transplantation experiment.Results:Cells from the specimens of the primary tumor,the CHLC- 1 cell line and the cells from transplanted tumor possessed the characteristics of malignant squamous epithelium under light and electron microscope.The cell growth curve,doubling time and mitotic index were also observed in vitro.Nuclear chromosome analysis revealed that the tumor was a subtriploid with a mode of 60-68 per cell.Tumor nodes were observed under the skin of nude mice by heterogenic transplantation.Conclusion:The characteristics of the established cell line suggest that it is a newly established human squamous carcinoma cell line.

Objective To determine the effect of histotype and histodifferentiation on the maximum standardized uptake value (SUV_(max)) of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) ~(18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) PET/CT imaging.Methods Two hundred and sixty patients with NSCLc underwent ~(18)F-FDG PET/CT imaging.They were classified according to (1) histotype:as adenocarcinoma (AC),squamous cell carcinoma(SQC),adenosquamous carcinoma (ASC) and other type carcinoma (OTC),and (2) histodifferentiation:as grade Ⅰ (well-differentiated),grade Ⅱ (moderate-differentiated) and grade Ⅲ (poor-differentiated).The SUV_(max) and size(long diameter)of the primary lesions were measured.Multivariate regression analysis was used to analyze the relationship between the SUV_(max) and variable factors including histotype,histodifferentiation,lesion size,age,sex,body height,body weight,body mass index (BMI),blood glucose level,dose,and rate of dose.Results Two hundred and sixty patients had 260 primary NSCLC tumors.There were 161 AC(15 grade Ⅰ,88 grade Ⅱ,58 grade Ⅲ),74 SQC(6 grade Ⅰ,39 grade Ⅱ,29 grade Ⅲ),15 ASC(7 grade Ⅱ,8 gradeⅢ)and OTC(8 large cell,2 carcinosarcoma).Only lesion size (F=87.046.P＜0.001),histodifferentiation (F=87.604,P＜0.001) and histotype (F=66.663,P＜0.001) were included for multivariate regression analysis with SUV_(max).After adjustment for lesion size,the SUV_(max)(mean and 95%confidence interval) in ascending order was AC Ⅰ:3.3(2.1-4.5),ACⅡ:6.0(5.5-6.6),SQCⅠ:6.1(4.2-8,0),ASC Ⅱ:6.6(4.8-8.4),SQCⅡ.7.8(7.0-8.6),OTC:8.1(6.6-9.6),AC Ⅲ:8.3(7.6-8.9),ASC Ⅲ:8.7(7.0-10.4),and SQC Ⅲ:8.9(8.0-9.8).11he SUV_(max) of AC Ⅰ was significantly lower than that of SQC Ⅰ(q=-2.786,P=0.017),same for AC Ⅱ and SQC Ⅱ(q=-1.776,P＜0.001),but no statistically significant differences were found among AC Ⅲ,ASC Ⅲ and SQC Ⅲ(q=-0.593,-0.422,0.171,P=0.288,0.642,0.860,respectively).For the same histotype lesions,the difference of SUV_(max) among AC Ⅰ,Ⅱ and Ⅲ was statistically significant(q=-2.720,-4.943,-2.223,all P＜0.001),as also for SQC Ⅰ and Ⅲ(q=-2.751,P=0.012).Conclusion Histotype and histodifferentiation are significant correlative factors for ~(18)F-FDG uptake of NSCLC,with histodifferentiation being the factor with greater impact.
