Objective To study the urban elder people's cancer-spectrum in Chongqing from 1991 to 1998 in order to obtain the first-hand data and references for the prevention and the treatment of carcinoma in the seniles. Methods The data of population and death causes were collected with cluster sampling method in the communities of business, culture and industry in Chongqing. Their mortality rate, disease-specific mortality rate and the sequence of the death causes were analyzed. Results Their first death causes was cancer (mortality rate 811.95/105 persons, accounted for 21.25% of all death causes). The mortality rate of five cancers was as follows: lung cancer (282.45/105), esophagus cancer(119.47/105), liver cancer(108.41/105), stomach cancer (73.75/105) and intestine cancer (55.31/105). The prevalence of different cancer between male and female at different communiteis was different. Conclusions It is very important to strengthen the protection of the environment and advocate the healthy life mode in order to lower the mortality rate by cancer in urban seniles.

Objective:To explore the effect of calcium release-activated calcium channel modulator 1 (ORAI1) on the migration and invasion of colon cancer cell line SW480 and its mechanism. Methods:The SW480 cells were infected with ORAI interference lentivirus. The expression of ORAI1 mRNA and protein was confirmed by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and Western blot. Transwell chamber, adhesion, angiogenesis, and vasculogenic mimicry experiments were conducted to detect the ability of cell invasion, migration, and angiogenesis and the intercellular adhesion of homogeneous and heterogeneous cells among each group. Confocal microscopy was employed to detect the difference of store-operated Ca2+entry (SOCE) in each group. Western blott was used to detect the expression of ERK1/2, p-ERK1/2, MMP-2, VEGF, and E-cadherin protein. Results:After the infection of SW480 with the ORAI1 interference lentivirus for 72 h, significant fluorescence expression was observed. Compared with the empty vector group and control group, the expression of ORAI1 was lower in the interference group (P<0.01). Invasion and migration ability decreased (P<0.01); the intercellular adhesion ability of homogeneous cells increased (P<0.05); the intercellular adhesion ability of heterogeneous cells decreased (P<0.05);the angiogenesi and vasculogenic mimicry were enhanced (P<0.01);the internal flow peak of SOCE was low (P<0.05); the expression of p-ERK1/2, MMP-2, and VEGF proteins decreased (P<0.01); and the expression of E-cadherin protein increased (P<0.01). Conclusion:ORAI1 may promote the migration and invasion of SW480. This mechanism may be associated with the increase of SOCE.

Objective To evaluate the feasibility and clinical value of laparoscopic partial splenectomy to treat benign splenic diseases.Methods The clinical data of 13 patients who underwent laparoscopic partial splenectomy carried out by a single operating surgeon from June 2010 to January 2016 in our hospital were analyzed retrospectively.The enrolled patients included 6 with a splenic epidermoid cyst,4 with a splenic pseudocyst and 3 with splenic hemangioma.The lesion diameters ranged from 5.1 to 12.4 cm,with an average of (7.2 ± 2.3) cm.Results The operations were all successful.There was no conversion to laparotomy and there was no perioperative death.The operations included 4 upper pole splenic resection,5 lower pole resection,2 middle and upper pole resection and 2 middle and lower pole resection.The operative time ranged from 95 to 155 min,with an average of (119 ± 17) min.The volume of intra-operative blood loss ranged from 100 to 350 ml,with an average of (187 ± 78) ml.There was no postoperative bleeding,pancreatic fistula,digestive fistula,intra-abdominal infection,splenic vein thrombosis and other complications after the operation.The average postoperative hospitalization stay was (5 ± 1) d.Conclusions In carefully selected patients,laparoscopic partial splenectomy carried out by experienced surgeons to treat benign splenic diseases is safe and feasible.

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of Tianwang Buxin Decoction for delirium after hip joint replacement in senile femoral neck fracture patients. Methods A total of 57 senile patients with femoral neck fracture induced by falling were enrolled from the department of arthropathy of Zhongshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine admitted from September of 2009 to February of 2014. The patents were aged over 65 years, and had delirium after hip joint replacement. Random number method was used to divide the patients into Chinese medicine group ( 29 cases) and western medicine group ( 28 cases) , which were given oral use of Tianwang Buxin Decoction and Olanzapine separetely. Before and after treatment, we observed the scores of Delirium Rating Scale (DRS), time for delirium disappearing, and incidence of indifferent mind and somnolence.Results (1) After treatment, DRS scores were obviously decreased in both groups (P<0.01 compared with those before treatment), but the difference was insignificant between the two groups (P>0.05). (2) The difference of time for delirium disappearing was insignificant between the two groups after treatment ( P>0.05). ( 3) After treatment, 7 cases of the control group had indifferent mind or somnolence, accounting for 25%. No case of the treatment group had indifferent mind or somnolence. The difference between the two groups was significant ( P<0.01). Conclusion Oral use of Tianwang Buxin Decoction has the same effect as Olanzapine for the treatment of delirium after hip joint replacement in falling-induced senile femoral neck fracture patients, and has the advantages of having no adverse reaction of indifferent mind or somnolence, and can realize comprehensive treatment by modification of the recipe according to the symptoms.

AIM: Stable human macrophage-derived foam cell model is significant for the study on artherosclerosis. This study investigated the feasibility of establishing macrophage-derived foam cell model using U937 cell lines. METHODS: The experiment was performed at Institute of Basic Medicine, Chengde Medical College from March to September 2006. ①U937 cell lines were purchased from Institute of Biochemistry & Cell Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. ②Sixteen bottles of U937 cells (109 L-1) were incubated at 37 ℃ in saturated humidity containing 5% CO2 for 72 hours. Among them, eight bottles contained 100 ?g/L phorbol-12-myristate-13-acetate (PMA) and 100 mg/L low-density lipoprotein (LDL) as experimental group, and the other eight bottles only 100 mg/L LDL as control group. ③Cell morphology was studied under light microscope by Wright's and Oil red O staining. Cell total cholesterol (TC) was measured after 72 hours of incubation. RESULTS: A large amount of lipid droplets were found in the cytoplasm by Oil red O staining in cells of the experimental group, but not found in control group cells. Objective To determine the content of six heavy metal elements of arsenicum(As),mercury(Hg),cuprum(Cu),plumbum(Pb),cadmium(Cd) and chromium(Cr) in Rhizoma Curcumae Longae.Methods Samples were digested with microwave digestion system,and the contents of Cu,Pb,Cd and Cr were determined by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry(GFAAS);the contents of As and Hg were determined by atomic fluorescence spectrometry(AFS),and the reproducibility and recovery of the method were also examined.Results As and Hg contents in most of the products were below the limit.Only Cu,Pb and Cd contents exceed the limit.The recovery was 86.3 %～113.4 %and RSD was 10.4 %.Conclusions The method is simple and accurate,and can be used for the determination of heavy metal in Chinese herbs.

Objective　To investigate the causes of death in residents living in the area of industrial pollution in Chongqing. Methods　Mortality rate, sequence of causes of death, years of potential life lost (YPLL) and the valued years of potential life lost (VYPLL) were used to analyze causes of death in 1991-1998. Community not polluted by industry was chosen to serve as control. Results　The annual average mortality rate of the residents was 7.34‰ (standard mortality rate 4.61‰). The sequence of major causes of death was shown as below: malignant tumors (mortality rate 198.07/105, standard mortality rate 126.35/105), cerebrovascular diseases (mortality rate 159.13/105, standard mortality rate 92.66/105), respiratory system diseases (mortality rate 107.33/105, standard mortality rate 84.85/105), cardiac diseases (mortality rate 95.36/105, standard mortality rate 59.37/105) and accidental deaths (mortality rate 47.08/105, standard mortality rate 43.28/105). Among malignant tumors， lung cancer took the lead with a mortality rate of 65.49/105(standard mortality rate 45.27/105). In both sequences of standard rates of YPLL and VYPLL for major causes of deaths, accidental death was always took the first place. Conclusion　In order to reduce mortality rate of the residents in the area, it is necessary to strengthen the administration of natural and social environment of the area.

Objective To evaluate the causation and management of complications caused by enteral nutrition (EN)after stomach cancer surgery.Methods The clinical data of 195 gastric cancer patients which used EN after surgery were analyzed retrospectively from September 2002 to April 2008 in our hospital.Results Among the 195 patients,29(14.87%)developed abdominal distention,17(8.71%)diarrhoea,Six(3.07%)metabolic complica tions,three anastomotie leakage,1 patient with colon perforation.Conclusion These complications caused by EN after stomach cancer surgery associated with the stress of surgery,the speed and concentration of nutrition infusion, patients'metabolic conditions and other related factors.

This study is to screen 23 blank O/W type microemulsion (ME) samples, that is 15 samples from our laboratory, and 8 samples from literature; compare the conductivity-water content curve (CWCC) method and visual method in determining the critical water content during O/W type MEs' formation, to analyze the deficiency and the feasibility of visual method and to exploxe scientific meanings of CWCC method in judging the critical water content of O/W type MEs during formation. The results show that there is a significant difference between the theoretical feasible CWCC method and visual method in determining the critical water content (P<0.001), and the results judged by conductivity is higher than that by eye-based water content. Therefore, this article firmly confirmed the shortcomings of visual method and suggested that the eye-base "critical water content" may falls into continuous ME stage during O/W MEs' formation. Further more, the CWCC method has theoretical feasibility and scientific meanings in determining the critical water content of O/W type MEs during formation.
