Journal of Southern Medical University 2015;35(6):907-911
OBJECTIVETo establish a clinical database of functional dyspepsia for epidemiological researches and standardizing clinical diagnosis and treatment.
METHODSThe functional dyspepsia database was designed to incorporate the data from in-patients and out-patients with functional dyspepsia treated since July, 2013 and was constructed using Visual Studio. The patient data were collected using a customized case report form designed according to the Roman criteria III and the etiology, symptoms, and treatments of the patients. All the cases deemed ineligible were excluded. The database was displayed on a website and allowed online data entry, case searches and statistical analysis of the clinical parameters.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONThe established online database for functional dyspepsia contained data of the general information, clinical symptoms, psychological status, living habits, dietary habits, medical history, examination results, clinical diagnosis, treatment methods and courses, outcomes and data statistics. The database was fully functional and provided complete and standardized data of functional dyspepsia for clinical studies.

4.Contemplation on the application of big data in clinical medicine.
Chinese Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery 2015;18(1):13-15
Medicine is another area where big data is being used. The link between clinical treatment and outcome is the key step when applying big data in medicine. In the era of big data, it is critical to collect complete outcome data. Patient follow-up, comprehensive integration of data resources, quality control and standardized data management are the predominant approaches to avoid missing data and data island. Therefore, establishment of systemic patients follow-up protocol and prospective data management strategy are the important aspects of big data in medicine.

It is significant to establish scene ECG database which improves the automatic diagnostic function of electrocardiograph under different application scenarios. We built the ECG database in different scene according to the hospital level (grade 3, grade 2, grade 1) and clinical environment (intensive care and acute wards, outpatient clinics and general wards). Sample size was obtained according to the incidence of various ECG diagnoses. The database covers ECG signal, ECG waveform, ECG characteristic values, ECG diagnostic results by experts and clinical information of patients etc. It not only provides important reference for electrocardiograph manufacturers to evaluate and test the parameters of automatic diagnosis under different clinical scene, but also provides valuable scientific research and teaching resources for medical workers.

6.Biobank in the age of big data.
Chinese Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery 2015;18(1):6-8
In big data era, researchers pay more attention to the correlation between biological information of patient samples and related clinical information of diseases. The large volume correlation analysis will help predict the initiation, development and outcome for specific diseases. Disease-related biobank is the core facility bridging the gap between the clinical information and biological information of the disease. The volume, diversity, and especially the quality, and standardization of sample and sample-related information will influence the outcome of big data prediction. Therefore, the establishment of quality management system, and implement of standard inspection and test method are very urgent for continuous improvement of biobanks.

7.Foundation of the interactive oral and maxillofacial radiological image annotation database.
West China Journal of Stomatology 2013;31(6):574-577
OBJECTIVEThis project aims to establish an interactive oral and maxillofacial radiological image annotation database and to analyze its feasibility for implementation into curricula in order to develop a highly effective software for image browsing.
METHODSWe established the interactive image annotation database primarily on the basis of the local network and Foxit Reader. A pilot survey was then conducted to determine the performance of the interactive database. Seventy-six students were asked to complete a structured and open questionnaire related to their perceptions of using the database. Simple numeric quantitative and qualitative analyses were then applied.
RESULTSA total of 542 portable document format (PDF) digital teaching images and corresponding annotated files were collected. The survey revealed that most of the students found the database useful. Approximately 87.50% of the 64 subjects who compelete questionnaire believed that the database was superior to an older system (joint photographic experts group, JPEG) of image browsing.
CONCLUSIONThe integration and sharing of teaching resources and the establishment of an internet-based learning platform is the key to realizing a digital medical teaching system. The established database has high potential in a wide range of practical applications.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2021;38(2):317-325
To explore the focus and trends in real-world studies in Chinese through knowledge mapping method, databases CNKI, VIP, Wanfang and Sinomed were retrieved, with 1 757 relevant articles published before September 30rd, 2020 finally included, whose bibliographical records were imported into NoteExpress to avoid duplication and check relativity. VOSviewer, a bibliometric analysis tool, was used to analyze their development. It was found that real-world studies have mainly taken shape after 2010, in which traditional Chinese medicine research plays an important role.

Based on ASP.NET framework, The Intelligent Estimated System for Rational Deployment of Medical Equipment (MERDIS) is designed and developed with SQL Server 2012 database and C# language. The system is used to realize the rational deployment suggestions and evaluation of medical equipment in hospitals. The system input the data of hospital medical equipment and clinical pathway into the database, and then feedback the deployment information to users which are calculated by big data information, so as to achieve the purpose of giving rational deployment of hospital medical equipment.

Chinese Journal of Stomatology 2022;57(9):946-952
Objective: To investigate the project characteristics of oral clinical trials registered in Chinese Clinical Trial Registry (ChiCTR), and to provide reference for medical institutions to improve the quality of oral clinical trials and formulate management systems. Methods: The ChiCTR database was retrieved to collect all the oral-related clinical trials from the time of database establishment to July 25, 2021. Those clinical trials were analyzed statistically in respect of name of registered project, registration time, registration status, regional distribution of research institutions, approval status by ethics committee, sample size, source of funds, involved disease, research type and design, randomization method, and whether blind method was adopted. Results: A total of 778 oral clinical trials, which studied mainly in the oral and maxillofacial diseases, periodontal tissue diseases, oral implant diseases, oral mucosal diseases, and oral prosthetic diseases, were retrieved in the database. Beijing, Sichuan, Shanghai, Guangdong and Hubei were major regions where oral clinical trials were carried out, accounting for 69.68% (772/1 108) of the total. The top four funding sources were hospital finance [24.93% (186/746)], local government finance [22.39% (167/746)], self-financing [17.69% (132/746)], and national finance [12.47% (93/746)]. For the types of researches, 520 interventional studies and 244 observational studies were identified (accounting for 66.84% and 31.36%, respectively). The research designs were dominated by ways of randomized control (381, 48.97%), of which 240 (62.99%) trials were with missing or unspecified blinding methods. Conclusions: Oral clinical trials are increasing year by year, but they are regionally imbalanced, and still need to be further improved in registration information and research design. Administrative departments should pay more attention to strengthen the publicity and education on the registration and publication mechanism of clinical trials, and enhance researchers' cognitions in clinical trials registration and clinical trials design.
