Objective To understand the prevalence of human intestinal parasite infections in Lahu Ethnic residents so as to provide the evidence for effective control. Methods The prevalence of soil-transmitted nematode infections in local people was determined by Kato-Katz technique and individual sanitary behaviors and habits were requested by a standardized questionnaire in 3 villages of Xiaojie Township,Jinghong City,Yunnan Province. The relationship between intestinal parasite infections and behav-ioral characteristics was analyzed. Results Of 289 subjects,255 individuals were infected with soil-transmitted nematodes;the prevalence was 88.24%. Among the infected individuals,210 were found infected with hookworm and the infection rate was 72.66%;154 subjects were infected with Ascaris lumbricoides and the infection rate was 53.29%;13 were infected with Trichuris trichura, and the infection rate was 4.50%;16 were infected with other parasites and the infection rate was 5.54%. The percentag-es of people with light infection of hookworm,A. lumbricoides and T. trichura were 90.48%,97.40%and 100%,respectively. Con-clusions There is high prevalence of soil-transmitted nematode infections in Lahu Ethnic residents in Jinghong City, but the in-fection intensity was generally low. The control and monitoring of soil-transmitted parasite infections should be strengthened in this area.

OBJECTIVE:
To observe the expression pattern of caspase-3 and HCLS1-associated protein X-1 (HAX-1) at different time after cerebral contusion in rat, and explore the new method for estimating the injury interval.
METHODS:
The cerebral contusion model was established using adult SD male rats. Then the rats were randomly allocated into 8 groups: 2 h, 6 h, 12 h, 1 d, 3 d, and 7 d after cerebral contusion, sham-operation and normal control. Expression of caspase-3 and HAX-1 protein after cerebral contusion in rat was detected by Western blotting. Laser scanning confocal microscope was used to observe the number of HAX-1 positive cells and TUNEL-stained cells after cerebral contusion.
RESULTS:
The expression of caspase-3 increased parallelly with the time after cerebral contusion and reached the peak value on 3 d. The expression of caspase-3 decreased gradually and still maintained a high level expression on 7 d (P < 0.05). The expression of HAX-1 positive cell went up after injury, and reached the peak value at 6 h (P < 0.05), then turned down gradually after 12 h and went out of detection after 3 d. The number of TUNEL-stained cells increased obviously at 2 h and reached the peak value on 3 d. The number of TUNEL-stained apoptotic cells decreased gradually and still maintained a high level expression on 7 d (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSION
The expression of caspase-3 and HAX-1 after cerebral contusion has time sequential regularity, which may provide new evidence for forensic diagnosis of cerebral contusion interval.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the chronic hepatic damage in acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) patients long-term treated with tetra-arsonic tetra-sulfide (As(4)S(4)).
METHODSThe periodical liver biochemical examinations and ultrasonography results and hepatic fibrosis indicators (P III NP and type IV collagen) of patients were analysed.
RESULTS106 APL patients treated with As(4)S(4), the median follow-up time was 36 months (6 - 72). The HCV(-) group includes 84 APL patients. During the first course the abnormal rate of the alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) was 16.7% and 14.5% (higher than the two times of the normal value), the ALT, AST, gamma-glyoxylate aminotransferase (GGT) levels during the first course were statistically higher than As4S4 treatment before (P < 0.05). There were no statistically differences between the ALT, AST, GGT levels after and before treating with As(4)S(4) in half a year, one year, two year, more than three years (P > 0.05). Other biochemical indicators such as ALP, LDH, TBIL, DBIL, TP, ALB, A/G, BUN, CRE, there were no significantly differences before and after As(4)S(4) treatment (P > 0.05). The HCV(+) group includes 22 APL patients, during the first course, the abnormal rate of the ALT, AST were 63.6% and 59.1%, but at the 2 year, more than 3 years there were no significantly differences compared with As(4)S(4) treatment before (P > 0.05). 42 APL patients were treated with As(4)S(4) more than 3 years, in 33 HCV(-) APL patients, two APL patients had splenomegaly, one APL patient's breadth of the portal vein was wider than 1.4 cm, 21 APL patients had fatty liver (63.6%). The hepatic fibrosis indicators of the 16 APL patients were all normal. In 9 HCV(+) APL patients, 4 APL patients had splenomegaly, 2 APL patients, breadth of portal vein were wider than 1.4 cm, 6 APL patients had fatty liver (66.7%). 6 patients were examined with the hepatic fibrosis indicators, 2 patients, were higher than the normal value.
CONCLUSIONLong term As(4)S(4) treatment for APL patients had no obvious effects on hepatic function, no obvious hepatic fibrosis and portal hypertension signs at more than 3 years, excepting for the rate of fatty liver was high.

Objective To evaluate the intervention effects of low-fluoride brick tea in the population, and to provide data for the prevention and control of the brick-tea type fluorosis. Methods Eighty-six Kazakh families with 5-12 years old children were selected and divided into two groups in the severe brick-tea type fluorosis areas of Akesai County of Gansu Province. Forty-six households were intervened by drinking low-fluoride brick tea as intervention group and another 40 households drank general brick tea as control group. The fluoride content in water, tea and urine was monitored and the total daily fluoride intake of adults and children was calculated by the fluoride content of the tea before and during intervention. The baseline prevalence of dental fluorosis was surveyed in all Kazakh school students aged 5 - 12 years before intervention, dental fluorosis prevalence were surveyed in two groups after the intervention. The fluoride content in water, urine, tea, and brick-tea samples was detected by iron electrode method, and dental fluorosis was diagnosed by Dean's method. Results The fluoride content of water were 0.36,0.50 mg/L respectively before and 42 months after intervention. The total daily fluoride intake of adults and children in the intervention group (being 4.39,5.12,5.38,4.49 mg in adults and 1.90,2.33 in children, 2.33, 1.94 mg for four calculations) were lower than those in control group (8.42,9.07,8.35,7.92 and 3.65,3.93, 3.62,3.43 mg). Except the second batch (530.4 mg/kg), the average fluoride content of the other 3 batches of low-fluoride brick tea(239.3,222.88,154.7 mg/kg) was lower than that of 4 batches of market brick tea(366.9,412.2, 286.0,379.6 mg/kg). The fluoride content of low-fluoride brick tea samples was in accordance with the national standard(< 300 mg/kg) in 16 of 21 samples in 4 the batches, and the qualifying rate was 76.19%(16/21). Only 5 of 21 market brick tea samples in 4 batches was qualified, accounting for 23.80%(5/21), both were significantly different(χ2= 11.52, P < 0.01). In 12, 36, 42 months after intervention, urine fluoride content in the intervention group of adult(1.84,1.23,1.77 mg/L) and children(1.55,0.65,1.10 mg/L) was less than that of the control group (adults: 3.37,3.68,3.02 mg/L, children: 2.64,1.64,2.62 mg/L), both being statistically significant (t value were 2.94,2.43,3.91,3.29,2.31,4.42, P < 0.01 or 0.05). The detective rate of dental fluorosis was 69.02%(127/184)at baseline among children. After the intervention, it lowered to [44.83% (13/29) in the intervention group, significantly lower than that in the control group[71.88%(23/32), χ2 = 4.60, P < 0.05]. Conclusion Low-fluoride brick tea can reduce the fluoride intake of the residents who drink brick tea, and alleviate excessive fluoride and the damage of high-fluoride.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2017;21(30):4893-4900
BACKGROUND: Chitosan as a functional polymer material has been widely used in the field of biomedicine, and it is an intelligent material with sensor function, feedback function and response function.OBJECTIVE: To discuss the recent application of chitosan scaffolds in different fields of tissue engineering, and to highlight the advantages and disadvantages of chitosan as a scaffold material. METHODS: The key words of "tissue engineering, scaffold, chitosan" in Chinese and English were used to search CNKI and PubMed databases for relevant articles published from 2000 to 2016. After the initial screening, the reserved articles were further detailed, summarized and concluded. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Due to its biological properties such as being biocompatible, biodegradable and carrying many different growth factors, chitosan has been widely used in the tissue engineering field for repair of different tissues including nerve tissue, periodontal tissue, bone tissue, and myocardial tissue. However, the application of chitosan as a scaffold in tissue engineering is limited due to its shortcoming. The combination of chitosan and other biocompatible materials provides a solution to these limitations, which greatly broadens the application of chitosan.
