1.Clinical effect of the application of microscopic pterygium resection combined with different concentration of mitomycin C

AlM: To study the clinical effect of the application of microscopic pterygium resection combined with different concentration of mitomycin C ( MMC) .
METHODS:A total of 110 cases of pterygium patients (120 eyes) were randomly divided into control group (58 eyes) and observation group (62 eyes) according to the odd and even number method. The control group adopted the pterygium resection combined 0. 3mg/mL MMC, and the observation group was given pterygium resection combined 0. 2mg/mL MMC. The cure rate and the recurrence rate, eyesight before and after the treatment, two groups of cornea and sclera wound healing situation, the incidence of postoperative complications were compared.
RESULTS: The cure rate and recurrence rate of the control group was 84. 5% and 15. 5% respectively, and the observation group was 93. 6% and 6. 5% respectively, the differences were statistically significant (P<0. 05). There were statistical differences of vision of the two groups before and after treatment (P<0. 05), and there were no statistical differences of the two groups between the two groups after treatment (P>0. 05). The cornea, sclera, wound healing time of the observation group were less than the control group, and there were statistical differences between the two groups ( P < 0. 05 ). The incidence of complications was 13. 8% in the control group and 3. 2% in observation group, with statistically significant difference (P<0. 05).
CONCLUSlON: The application effect of microscopic pterygium resection combined with MMC is remarkable, and the joint of 0. 2mg/mL concentration of MMC is more safe and effective, and is worth popularizing in clinical application.
2.The effect of estradiol and testosterone on the apoptosis of lacrimal gland cell induced by H2O2

Background The sex hormones plays an important role in the incidence of dry eye,especially for the regulation of function.However,the effects of sex hormones on lacrimal gland epithelial cells are below understand.Objective This study was to investgate the effects of estradiol and testosterone on the apoptosis of lacrimal gland cells induced by H2O2.Methods The lacrimal gland tissue was obtained from 2- or 3-month-old clean male New Zealand rabbits and the lacrimal gland epithelial cells were cultured in vitro using esplant culture method.The cells were identified by pan cytokeratin antibodies with immunocytochemistry.lacrimal gland epithelial cells were incubated in the 96 well plate at the density of 5 × l04 cells/ml for 44 hours.Estradiol or testosterone with the concentrations of 1 × 10-5,1 × 10-6,1 × 10-7,1 × 10-8 mol/L were added into the medium for 24 hours respectively and 1× 10-4 mol/L H2O2 treated the cells for 1 hour to induce the apoptosis in experimental groups.The cells treated by only 1 × 10-4 mol/L H2O2 were used as apoptotic control group,and the cells cultured by regular method were used as blank control group.The cell viability in different groups was detected using MTT at 570 nm ( A570 ),and the apoptotic rates of the cells were assayed using Annexin V/PI double staining.This use and maintain of experimental animals followed the Regulation for the Administration of Affairs Concerning Experimental Animals by State Science and Technology Commission.Results The cultured cells showed the irregular polygon in shape,and about 80% cells was positive response for cytokeratin.MTT assay showed that the lower A570 values were detected in the H2O2-induced group,various concentrations of estradiol or testosterone groups compared with blank control group (P<0.01 ).The A570 values in 1 × 10-5,1 × 10-6,1 × 10-7 mol/L estradiol groups or 1 × 10-6 mol/L testosterone group were significantly higher than ones of H2 O2-induced group (P<0.01 ).Compared with corresponding concentrations of testosterone groups,the A570values in various concentrations of estradiol groups were elevated( P<0.01 ).The apoptosis rates at the early and later phase were significantly declined in both estradiol group and testosterone group in comparison with H2 O2-induced group (P < 0.01,P< 0.05 ),and those in estradiol group were lower than the testosterone group( P<0.01,P<0.05 ).Conclusions Estradiol and testosterone suppress the apoptosis of lacrimal gland cells induced by H2O2,and the stronger effect is found in estrogen.The inhibition of estrogen on lacrimal gland cell apoptosis show a dose-dependent manner to some extent.

4.A study on the interpolation algorithm for the serial-parallel robot-controlled HIFU.

According to the hardware characters of the high intensive focused ultrasound (HIFU) serial-parallel robots, this paper presents an algorithm of 2-grade interpolation scheme which includes the rough and fine interpolations. Both pre-acceleration and post-acceleration are employed to meet the restrictive requirements of coordinated dynamic performance and the detailed procedure of the interpolation algorithm is given too.

5.Expression and purification of BDNF-TAT fusion protein in E.coli and its distribution in brain

Objective To explore the expression and purification of BDNF-TAT fusion protein in E.coli, and study its brain-targeting and distribution in brain. Methods Plasmid PET-30(a) -BDNF-TAT was transfected into the E.coli BL21 (DE3)pLysS;the expression of PET-30(a)-BDNF-TAT was induced by isopropyl-beta-d-thiogalactopyranoside (IPTG);this BDNF-TAT fusion protein was purified by SP-Sepharose cation exchange column and then renatured by 0.4 mol/L arginine. According to the random number table method, KM mice were divided into 3 groups: BDNF-TAT treatment group (giving 4 μg BDNF-TAT through intravenous injection, n=3), negative control group (giving same volume of saline through intravenous injection, n=3) and blank control group (without giving any treatment, n=3). The whole brain protein was collected 3 h after the injection;Western blotting was used to identify the expression of BDNF-TAT fusion protein;the distributions of BDNF-TAT in the brain tissues were examined by SABC immunohistochemistry. Results BDNF-TAT fusion protein was purified with the purity about 90%. The relative expression of BDNF-TAT fusion protein was 1.897±0.286 in the BDNF-TAT treatment group, 0.615±0.234 in the negative control group, 0.335±0.154 in the blank control group;significant differences between each 2 groups were noted (F=39.019, P=0.000).Western blotting indicated that the content of BDNF-TAT in the mice brain in BDNF-TAT treatment group was obviously higher than that in the negative control group and blank control group (P<0.05);BDNF-TAT fusion protein were widely distributed in CA1,CA3 and DG areas of the hippocampus of brain tissues in the BDNF-TAT treatment group, while no obvious positive staining was noted in the negative control group and blank control group. Conclusion BDNF-TAT fusion protein abundantly expresses in E.coli in the form of inclusion bodies, and can target the brain tissue via a systemic route.
6.Long-term outcome and health-related quality of life in survivors of severe acute pancreatitis.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the health-related quality of life and postdischarge long-term outcome after severe acute pancreatitis.
METHODSThe hospital records of patients with SAP discharged healthy from January 2003 to December 2003 were reviewed. The Rand 36-item Health Survey with accessory question was mailed to each patient. The means and deviations for each of eight scales scores of SF-36 were calculated, the study population scores were compared with general Chinese population; Univariate analysis was applied to determining the effects of variables such as age, sex, causes of disease, mode of treatment, frequency of surgery, financial burden, length of stay, chronic complications. Accessory questions were analyzed separately.
RESULTSThe means and deviations for each of eight scales (PF, RP, RE, BP, VT, MH, SF, GH) scores of SF-36 in SAP patients were 83 +/- 15, 62 +/- 42, 69 +/- 36, 80 +/- 15, 69 +/- 19, 72 +/- 15, 75 +/- 18, 65 +/- 18, compared with general people. Except RP and SF, the others were similar. In the ANOVA of Physical Component Summary, the three variables mode of treatment, financial burden and length of stay were included (P < 0.05), while in that of Mental Component Summary, the two variables of gender and financial burden were included (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSThe health-related quality of life in SAP patients is similar to that of general people. Greater attention should be given to mode of treatment, length of stay and financial burden to improve quality of life.

7.Clinical analysis of renal cell carcinoma: report of 271 cases.

OBJECTIVETo study the diagnosis and treatment of renal cell carcinoma.
METHODFrom January 1993 to December 2000 the data of 271 cases of renal cell carcinoma were reviewed.
RESULTSUltrasonography and CT scanning were still the main diagnostic methods. Surgical operation was performed on 234 patients. Radical nephrectomy was performed on 197 patients (72.6%); Nephron sparing surgery was performed on 19 patients; Metastatic tumor resection was performed on 6 patients and other procedures for 12. The pathological results showed that 137 cases (61.4%) were clear cell carcinoma, 18 cases (8. 1%) of granular cell carcinoma, 32 cases (14. 3%) being combination of the above two varieties, 23 cases (10.3%) of renal papillary adenocarcinoma, 13 cases being renal cell of other types. And 210 cases (77.5%) had been successfully followed up. The 1, 3, 5 and 10 year survival rates were 95.3% (182/191), 88.7% (107/122), 74.7% (56/75) and 32.1% (10/31) respectively.
CONCLUSIONSUltrasonography is the first select examination method of detecting of renal cell carcinoma, and CT scanning is the most valuable diagnostic mean. Early diagnosis and prompt radical nephrectomy or nephron sparing nephrectomy are the critical points for achieving long-term survivals of patients with renal cell carcinoma.

8.Effect of transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation on venous thrombosis after lung cancer surgery: a randomized controlled trial.

OBJECTIVE:
To observe the effect of transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation (TEAS) on venous thrombosis and quality of life after lung cancer surgery, basing on the conventional nursing and early functional exercise.
METHODS:
A total of 120 patients diagnosed as non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and received radical resection of lung cancer surgery for the first time were randomized into a conventional nursing group, a rehabilitation training group and a TEAS group, 40 cases in each group. Conventional nursing was adopted in the conventional nursing group. Conventional nursing combined with early functional exercise were adopted in the rehabilitation training group, the exercise was taken 20 min each time, once in both morning and afternoon for 5 days. On the basis of the treatment in the rehabilitation training group, TEAS was applied at Zusanli (ST 36), Xuehai (SP 10), Sanyinjiao (SP 6), etc. in the TEAS group, with disperse-dense wave in frequency of 30 Hz/100 Hz and tolerable intensity, 30 min each time, once in both morning and afternoon for 5 days. The incidence of venous thrombosis in each group was observed at the 5th day after surgery. Before surgery and at the 5th day after surgery, the Caprini thrombus risk assessment was performed, the Karnofsky performance status (KPS) scale and the functional assessment of cancer therapy-lung (FACT-L) were used to evaluate the quality of life.
RESULTS:
At the 5th day after surgery, no thrombosis was found in the TEAS group, the incidence of venous thrombosis in the TEAS group was lower than 15.0% (6/40) in the conventional nursing group (
CONCLUSION
On the basis of the conventional nursing and early functional exercise, TEAS can reduce the incidence of venous thrombosis, effectively prevent thrombosis and improve quality of life.
