Parkinson′s disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disease in middle-aged and elderly people. In addition to motor symptoms, PD also has many non motor symptoms, such as dysosmia, constipation, cognitive impairment, etc. Among them, dysosmia is a common non motor symptom of early Parkinson′s disease. Research has confirmed that olfactory dysfunction (OD) can appear before the typical clinical symptoms of PD, which is of great significance to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. However, at present, the pathogenesis of OD is still unclear, and the inspection methods have not been unified, and there is no complete cure. This article reviews the latest research progress of dysosmia in Parkinson′s disease.

Objective:
To determine the association between the intake of five major types of prepackaged foods and the growth and development of school aged children, so as to provide a theoretical basis for guiding school aged children and their parents to make healthy prepackaged food choices.
Methods:
Based on data from the South West China Childhood Nutrition and Growth Cohort (SCCNG), 381 children (6-11 years of age) were selected by stratified cluster sampling. Dietary intake and pubertal development were collected using questionnaires, and anthropometric measurements were obtained. Children were followed up until November 2022. Binary Logistic regression models were used to analyze the prospective association between prepackaged food intake and the growth and development of school aged children.
Results:
The total intake of the five major types of prepackaged foods was 316.1 (197.1,501.4) g/d. After 2 years of follow up evaluations, 16.5% of school aged children were shown to be overweight and obese. Early spermarche occurred in 12.6% of boys and early menarche occurred in 15.4% of girls. The following findings were suggested after adjusting for the mothers education level, average gross monthly family income, whether or not the family had one child only, geographic area of residence, body mass index Z score, average duration of daily exercise, and total dietary energy intake: convenience food intake might increase the risk of early spermarche ( OR =9.37); fruit and vegetable intake might decrease the risk of early spermarche and menarche ( OR =0.33,0.17); and fish, poultry, meat, and egg intake might increase the risk of early menarche ( OR =7.59)( P <0.05). Intake of the five types of prepackaged foods was not associated with being overweight or obese after adjusting for confounders ( OR =1.40, 0.57, 0.73, 1.33,1.57, P >0.05).
Conclusions
The relationship between intake of the five major types of prepackaged foods and pubertal development is inconsistent and no significant correlation was detected between the intake of prepackaged foods and overweight or obese children. Nutrition education should be strengthened to help children and their parents choose healthy prepackaged foods.

Chinese Journal of Ocular Fundus Diseases 2023;39(11):943-948
Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is one of the most serious complications of diabetes mellitus. Severe diabetic macular edema or proliferative retinopathy may lead to impaired vision or even blindness in diabetic patients. The glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1RA) is now commonly used as novel glucose-lowering agents in the clinical management of type 2 diabetes, but the rapid glycaemic changes associated with the use of the GLP-1RA may aggravate the risk of an increase in the occurrence of short-term potential DR. Potential effects and mechanisms of DR include oxidative stress, vascular endothelial growth factor, inflammation, retinal neurodegeneration, and other cytokines.Whether GLP-1RA leads to the increased risk of DR remains controversial. More basic and clinical studies are needed with the aim of further clarifying the correlation between GLP-1RA and DR risk.

Objective:To compare the clinical efficacy and safety of continuous dosing or alternate-day dosing of apatinib combined with SOX regimen as first-line treatment for patients with advanced gastric cancer. Methods:A total of 52 patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) negative and inoperable locally advanced or advanced gastric cancer who were pathologically diagnosed from January 2018 to January 2021 in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Shandong First Medical University were collected. The patients were divided into continuous dosing group and alternate-day dosing group by random number table method. The continuous dosing group received apatinib (250 mg, once a day) combined with SOX regimen (S-1+oxaliplatin); the alternate-day dosing group received apatinib (250 mg, once every other day) combined with SOX regimen. Twenty-one days were a cycle, and the efficacy was evaluated after 2 cycles. After 4-6 cycles, patients with stable disease received apatinib and S-1 for maintenance therapy. The therapeutic effects and adverse reactions of the two groups were compared. Results:The curative effect could be evaluated in 51 patients, including 26 in the continuous dosing group and 25 in the alternate-day dosing group. The disease control rates in the continuous dosing group and the alternate-day dosing group were 84.6% (22/26) and 76.0% (19/25) ( χ2 = 0.60, P = 0.499), and the median progression-free survival time was 7.50 months (95% CI 6.17-8.83 months) and 8.30 months (95% CI 6.99-9.61 months) ( χ2 = 0.71, P = 0.401), and the median overall survival time was 15.50 months (95% CI 11.30-19.69 months) and 15.60 months (95% CI 13.63-17.57 months) ( χ2 = 1.82, P = 0.177). The main adverse reactions in the two groups were leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, hypertension, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, hand-foot syndrome, proteinuria, liver and kidney damage. The incidence rates of ≥grade 3 adverse reactions in the continuous dosing group and the alternate-day dosing group were 42.3% (11/26) and 12.0% (3/25), and the difference was statistically significant ( χ2 = 4.46, P = 0.035). Conclusions:The efficacy of continuous dosing or alternate-day dosing of apatinib combined with SOX regimen as first-line treatment for advanced gastric cancer is similar, but the incidence of ≥grade 3 adverse reactions in alternate-day dosing group is lower, which improves the compliance and tolerance of patients.

Diabetes has long been considered a risk factor in implant therapy and impaired wound healing in soft and hard oral tissues.Magnesium has been proved to promote bone healing under normal conditions. Here,we elucidate the mechanism by which Mg2+ promotes angiogenesis and osseointegration in diabetic status. We generated a diabetic mice model and demonstrated the alveolar bone healing was compromised, with significantly decreased angiogenesis. We then developed Mg-coating implants with hydrothermal synthesis. These implants successfully improved the vascularization and osseointegration in diabetic status.Mechanically,Mg2+ promoted the degradation of Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1(Keap1)and the nucleation of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2)by up-regulating the expression of sestrin 2(SESN2)in endothelial cells, thus reducing the elevated levels of oxidative stress in mitochondria and relieving endothelial cell dysfunction under hyperglycemia.Altogether, our data suggested that Mg2+ promoted angiogenesis and osseointegration in diabetic mice by regulating endothelial mitochondrial metabolism.

Diabetic kidney disease(DKD)is a severe complication of diabetes. Its incidence increases annually, posing a significant burden on public health. The strategy of symptomatic treatment based on pathogenesis differentiation, focusing on identifying pathogenesis,is particularly meaningful for managing complex and variable chronic diseases like DKD.Within this framework, the state of latent heat persists throughout DKD,with"latent heat causing accumulation"identified as the core pathogenesis affecting and promoting the development and progression of DKD.This paper is centered on the concept of"latent heat causing accumulation"and adopts symptomatic treatment based on pathogenesis differentiation as its guiding principle to explore the role of latent heat in DKD.It highlights that the onset of DKD involves environmental and constitutional pathogenesis associated with"the concealment of latent heat"and"stagnant-heat invading collaterals"as the initial pathogenesis,"latent heat causing accumulation"as the core mechanism, and"secondary turbid heat"as the derivative pathogenesis. These pathogenesis factors collectively influence the symptoms, sequelae, and prognosis of DKD.Moreover, this paper provides commonly used prescriptions for different stages, syndrome types, and complications of the disease, aiming to offer a reference for clinical practice in flexibly addressing changes in disease conditions based on varied pathogenesis.
