1.A model of surveillance on hygiene and safety of street foodstuffs

491 foodstuff service bases at 5 communes in Ha Noi including 563 food service workers and 154 food consumers and 31 management bodies involved in this surveillance. Foods and drinks were sampled to undergo proper examinations. The study was carried out with questionnaires and under observation concerning 6 leading principles, 10 criteria of hygiene and safety issued by MOH, and the KAP of food service workers and management bodies. Recommendations were concluded and the model of surveillance was taken shape

2.Field experiment on efficiency of "Olyset" net in control and prevention of malaria vector at Song Be province

Clothers with hats and mosquito nets made from Olyset tried on 50 people who were working out-door at nights and 50 people who were sleeping with mosquito nets indoor at nights. 100 control people divided into 2 groups. Results showed that mosquito density indoor decreased significantly, clinical malaria and malarial parasite reduced from the 2nd month to the 4th month. There was no case of clinical malaria and malaria parasite on the 5th month. There was no major change in the control groups before and after experiment. After 7 to 10 months of experiment, no major changes of falling mosquito (80%) when contacted with Olyset net within three minutes

3.On the quality control of food hygiene and safety in Vietnam

4.Study on the lesion inside and outside of region of gastric cancer

A study on 50 patients with dissected gastric cancer in the E hospital has shown that the male-female ratio was 3/2. The gastric cancer rate was increased with age. The cancer in the 1/3 of lower stomach (4-%), mainly in the small curve (36%); size of tumor: 3-6 cm (36%), 6 cm (44%), early detected cancer (8%), late detected cancer (92%), chronic gastritis and atrophy (92%); intestinal heteroplasia and dysplasia (60%). The heteroplasia and dysplasia occurred more frequently in the gastric epithelioma then undifferentied gastric cancer.

5.Ceto-acidosic coma in type 2 diabetic patient

The coma is a common symptom of type 1 diabetes but is rare symptom of type 2 diabetes. Although it is a rare symptom, the ceto-acidosic coma can occur, even mild, moderate diabetes that not to be diagnosed the clinical and paraclinical features of ceto-acidosic coma in type 2 diabetes is not difference with this in ceto -acidosic coma in type 1 diabetes.

6.Research for exophthalmic level in Basedow patients by Hertel ruler.

Exophthalmus is an important symptom of Basedow’s disease. CT Scan, MRI or more simply by Hertel ruler can measure the exophthalmic level. The exophthalmic level was studied in association with age of diagnosis, disease duration and gender. The exophthalmus symptom has major diagnostic value in Basedow-related ophthalmic problems. The incidence of exophthalmus in Basedow patients is 60.9%, the longer the duration of disease, and the higher the incidence of exophthalmus.

7.The status of multidrug resistance in ubiquitous and dominant bacteria from burn patients

Background: Burn patients are at high risk of occasional infection because microorganism can penetrate through the wound easily. Objective: To identify bacteria species that most often cause occasional infections in burn patients and evaluate the rate of resistance to antibiotics of the isolated bacteria species. Subject and Method: A cross-sectional study was carried out on 126 patients treated at the National Institute of Burns from 4/2007 to 3/2008. Result: Rates of bacteria species were Pseudomonas aeruginosa (45.98%), after that was S.aureus (25.29%); Abaumannii (9.2%); E.coli (3.45%) and Kpneunwniae (2.87%). Rate ofresistance to antibiotics of P.aeruginosa among aminoglycoside ranged from 22.54% to 80.56%; quinolone from 39.44% to 41.1%; Cephems from 68.49% to 80.56% and penicillin from 67.61% to 78.87%; Imipenem was 27.4%. Anti-biotics resistance of Abaumannii among aminoglycoside ranged from aminoglycoside from 25.0% to 87.5%; quinolone was 81.25%; cephems was 93.33% and penicillin was 86.67%; lmipenem was 50% and Aztreonam was 93.75%. S.aureus were sensitive to Vancomycin was 1000%, but resistant to lmipenem (72.73); Gentamicin (71.43); Kanamycin (83.33); Tobramycin (83.33%); Ticarcillin / Clavulanic acid (75.61%) and Ceftazidine (75.61%).Conclusion: Isolated bacteria species, which caused occasional infections in burn patients, are mainly P.aeruginosa, S.aureus and A.baumannii. 8.Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) transcript level in breast cancer tissues

Background: Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) is a transmembrane cell-surface glycoprotein with intrinsic tyrosine kinase activity. EGFR has been shown to stimulate cell proliferation and to enhance the migration and invasiveness of breast cancer. EGFR is expressed in epidermal cell lines and have been implicated in the pathogenesis of many different types of cancer. Objective: To evaluate the level of EGFR transcript in breast cancer and normal tissues; comparison the EGFR transcript level at different development stages and cancer cell types. Subject and methods: Total RNA from 62 tissue samples including 47 breast cancer and 15 normal tissues were extracted; cDNA synthesis by reverse transcript polymerase chain reaction, EGFR transcript level were determined using semi-quantitative RT-PCR. Result and conclusions: EGFR transcript level was highly expressed in breast cancer tissues compared to the normal tissues. Especially, its expression was related to the different status and cancer cell types of breast cancer. There was a difference of EGFR transcript level between histological pathology\u2019s forms of breast cancer in the same stage.

9.The manpower and the demand for training in basic microbiology technique of centres for preventive medicine in North provinces and cities.

Background: In the past decades, preventive medicine had achieved significant success by promoting the effective prevention. However, we were facing with the rising again of dangerous infectious diseases that had been controlled. Ministry of Health had approved the development support project for preventive medicine system to strengthen early detection and control diseases in time. Objectives: To survey the manpower and the demand for training in basic microbiology technique of Centres for preventive medicine. Subjects and method: Technicians of 29 centres for preventive medicine in North provinces were surveyed and the results were studied by the described cross method. Results: Number of technicians graduated difference, fluctuated from 3 to 14 person per unit. The women were 80.4%; men were 19.6%. The staff who have degrees of postgraduate was 5.3%; University graduated was 41.2%; middle-ranking was 53.6%. Their specialities were very different: medicine doctor was 15.2%; biologists were 8.8%. The rest were nurse, technicians convalesce nurse, Medical Public Health...(34.4%). Among the demand for obtain the train in Microbiology, basic and advance labiratory techniques, 19.4% were the requests for training in basic microbiology; 16.4% were for molecular technology; 21.4% were for bacterium isolate technology and 19.4% were for virus technology. Conclusion: The results were the basis of creating a appropriate technical training strategy to contribute to the success of the project.

10.Generate and purify antibody against human Heparansulphate interacting protein (hHIp) in rabbit

Background: Human Heparansulphate interacting protein (hHip) has been shown to participate in biological processes of cells. Several studies indicated that hHip transcript is up regulated in several of cancer tissues including those of thyroid, colon, breast and prostate. Antibody against hHIP is necessary for methods to evaluate protein level of HIP in cancer tissues. Objectives:The aims of study was to induce anti hHIP antibody in rabbit and purify and conserve purified anti hHIP antibody. Subjects and method: The study included 9 adult and healthy rabbits with the weight 2 - 2.5kg. Immunization hHIP peptide-KLH in rabbit. Purify anti hHIP antibody using affinity chromatography. Results: The results shown synthesize hHIP peptide and conjugate it with carrier protein. Sensitive rabbit better meet with hHIP-KLH antibody. The Ig concentration obtained in sensitive rabbit was rather high and equal. Immunization hHIP-KLH successfully in rabbit. Obtainment valuable amount of anti hHIP antibody. Conclusion: Successfully induce and purify anti hHIP antibody from rabbit. Establish a standard protocol for polyclonal antibody against small peptide in rabbit.\r\n', u'\r\n', u'
