OBJECTIVE:
To observe the correlation between the threshold of tone burst auditory brain stem response (Tb-ABR) and ASSR (auditory steady-state response) and the threshold of BA (behavioral audiometry). To investigate the accuracy and clinical value of Tb-ABR and ASSR in pediatric hearing assessment.
METHOD:
From January, 2014 to December, 2014, 76 children (123 ears) recieved hearing examination in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University. They were classified into three groups according to the hearing level: 23 children (46 ears) with normal hearing ability in group A, 27 children (32 ears) with slightly-moderate sensorineural deafness in group B and 26 children (45 ears) with severe-profound sensorineural deafness in group C. Tb-ABR, ASSR, BA in 4 frequencies (0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 4.0 kHz) were tested and the results were statistically analyzed.
RESULT:
(1) At the 4 frequencies (0.5-4.0 kHz), we obtained 132 thresholds of Tb-ABR, 144 of ASSR, 152of BA. And 166 thresholds were obtained in Tb-ABR+ASSR+BA in total . (2) The thresholds of Tb-ABR, ASSR and those of BA in all 3 groups had linear relations at 0.5-4.0 kHz. The correlation coefficients of group A were 0.76, 0.82, 0.87 and 0.91; 0.52, 0.57, 0.67 and 0.64. Those of Group B were 0.89, 0.95, 0.98 and 0.95; 0.74, 0.82, 0.87 and 0.90. Those of Group C were 0.91, 0.90, 0.92 and 0.89; 0.93, 0.95, 0.95 and 0.91.
CONCLUSION
(1) Both ASSR and Tb-ABR can allow reasonably accurate predictions for the pediatric hearing assessment. The correlation between Tb-ABR threshold and BA threshold is higher in normal hearing children and slightly-moderate sensorineural deafness children. The correlation between ASSR threshold and BA threshold is higher in severe-profound sensorineural deafness children. (2) The hearing test combination can evaluate the residual hearing ability for children with severe hearing loss.

With homology cloning approaches coupling with RACE (rapid-amplification of cDNA ends) techniques, the full-length coding sequence of pathogenesis-related protein PR10-1 with differential expression was cloned from the total RNA of the root of Panax notoginseng, and its function was explored furtherly. As a result, the longest 465 bp ORF (named as PnPR10-1 with the Accession No. KJ741402 in GenBank) was detected from the cloned sequence with full-length of cDNA of 863 bp. The corresponding peptide encoded consisted of 155 amino acids, contained some domains such as Bet-v-I, and showed high similarity with that from Panax ginseng by analysis of phylogenetic trees created from the alignments. Real-time quantitative PCR showed that the expression of PnPR10-1 gene was constitutive in different tissues of 1-3 year old plant, suggesting that it might be involved in growth, development, and secondary metabolism; yet it was up-regulated significantly with the infection of Fusarium oxysporum in root, suggesting that it might be involved in defense against many diseases including root rot in P. notoginseng.

Bursting is an important firing mode of neurons. To propose a stochastic model of bursting spike train, the interspike interval (ISI) characteristics of single-spiking train and bursting spike train were analyzed and compared. In contrast with the exponential distribution of ISI in single-spiking train, normal distribution is supposed to be the ISI model of bursting spike train. Simulated neural spike trains were produced to investigate the spectrum features of the ISI model. The results showed that: (1) bursting spike train with normally distributed ISI held a low-pass spectrum while the spectrum of single-spiking train was flat; (2) the coefficient of variation of ISI in bursting train decided the bandwidth of its low-pass spectrum. Then neural activities from anesthetized rodent were used to check the validity of the model. 10 simultaneously recorded bursting spike trains and 10 single-spiking trains were selected during anesthesia and after pure-oxygen-washout period respectively. The spectrograms of these neural spike trains were analyzed and the results were matched with our mathematical model. It is believed that the bursting spike train model established in this paper will help to theoretically study the statistical characters of neural spike train and to add mathematical foundation in neural coding schemes.

Objective To investigate changes in serum levels of Th22 cell ? related cytokines and complements in patients with drug eruption before and after treatment, and to explore their possible roles in the occurrence and development of drug eruption. Methods This study included 35 patients with drug eruption, and 35 sex?and age?matched healthy controls. Five milliliters of peripheral blood samples were collected from the controls and patients before and after treatment. Enzyme?linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)was performed to measure serum levels of interleukin 22(IL?22)and IL?13, and the cytometric bead array(CBA)system was used to determine serum levels of tumor necrosis factor?α(TNF?α) and complement components C3a, C4a and C5a. Results Before treatment, the patients with drug eruption showed significantly higher serum levels of IL?22(40.85 ± 14.56 vs. 29.09 ± 8.66 ng/L, t=5.549, P<0.05), IL?13(869.94 ± 463.39 vs. 372.92 ± 151.75 ng/L, t=6.071, P<0.05), TNF?α(1.03 ± 0.64 vs. 0.44 ± 0.31 ng/L, t=4.321, P<0.05), complement C3a(55.21 ± 32.98 vs. 42.44 ± 14.26 ng/L, t=2.832, P<0.05), C4a(285.11 ± 123.91 vs. 237.00 ± 63.57 ng/L, t=2.257, P<0.05), and C5a(279.68 ± 127.72 vs. 215.98 ± 65.38 ng/L, t=2.495, P<0.05)compared with the controls. After treatment, the serum levels of IL?22, IL?13, TNF?α, complement C3a, C4a and C5a in patients decreased to(32.72 ± 11.77)ng/L,(456.21 ± 123.22)ng/L,(0.64 ± 0.39)ng/L,(45.47 ± 21.11)ng/L,(241.86 ± 84.12)ng/L and(239.61 ± 103.51)ng/L respectively, with a significant difference between the pretreatment and posttreatment values of these proteins(t = 4.443, 5.197, 3.572, 3.213, 2.728 and 4.772, respectively, all P ≤ 0.01). Additionally, the serum levels of IL?22 and IL?13 were still significantly higher in the patients than in the controls(both P < 0.05), while there were no significant differences in the serum levels of TNF?α, complement C3a, C4a or C5a between the patients and controls after treatment(all P > 0.05). Correlation analysis showed positive correlations between complement C3a and C4a serum levels(r = 0.660, P < 0.05), between C3a and C5a serum levels(r = 0.404, P < 0.05), between C4a and C5a serum levels(r = 0.501, P < 0.05), and between IL ? 22 and TNF ? α serum levels(r = 0.573, P = 0.005), but negative correlations between IL ? 22 and complement C3a serum levels(r = -0.490, P = 0.005), in patients before treatment. Conclusion The activation of Th22 cell?related cytokines and complements may play important roles in the occurrence and development of drug eruption, and IL?22 may participate in the regulation of complements.

Objective:To observe the effect of hemp seed oil on the blood lipid and its hepatoprotective efficacy in hyperlipidemic rats. Methods:High fat diet was used to make the hyperlipidemia model in SD rats, and the rats were randomly divided into 6 groups:the normal control group, high fat model group, high dose group(1. 5 g·kg-1 ),medium dose group(1. 0 g·kg-1 ),low dose group (0. 5 g·kg-1 )and Xuezhikang group(0. 5 g·kg-1 ). After 35-day treatment, serum TC,TG,HDL-C,LDL-C,SOD,MDA,ALT, AST and liver SOD were detected. Results:Compared with the model group, hemp seed oil at different dosages could significantly de-crease the contents of serum TC,TG,ALT and the atherogenic index(AI)( P<0. 05 or P<0. 01),and significantly increase the SOD activity in serum and liver(P<0. 01). The contents of serum MDA and AST in the medium and high dose groups were signifi-cantly decreased(P<0. 01),and the content of LDL-C in serum and the content of MDA in liver in the high dose group were signifi-cantly reduced(P<0. 01). Conclusion:Hemp seed oil shows promising blood lipid reducing ability and liver protective effect in hy-perlipidemic rats, and the mechanism may be related with liver lipid metabolism improvement and antioxidant function enhancement.
