Purpose:By ascessing the CT guided percutaneaus biopsy to improve clinical diag- nostic rate and reduce complications.Materials and methods:60 cases of biopsy with complete materials have been reviewed,and the methods of“retain anesthetic tracing needle”has been proposed-to obtain tissues for cytologic and histologic exams with different biopsy needles.Results:Successful rate of the puncfure 100%.39 cases were identified as lung cancer,8 cases as tuberculosis,7 cases as pneumonia. Successful biopsy was 90%.Conclusion:“Retain anesthetic tracing needle”could reduce the times of adjusting direction,improve the one-time successful rate and possess the characteristics of positioning safe,reliable and accurate diagnosis.

Totally 1136 individuals aged over 40 underwent health check up in March to May 2009. Fasting blood glucose, 2-h post-challenge blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin A1c ( HbA1c), total cholesterol, triglyceride, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and serum uric acid were measured. The diagnosis of metabolic syndrome was based on the International Diabetes Federation Criteria. The results shows that total body fat, region body fat indices, blood pressure, blood glucose and serum uric acid levels increased with the age ( P < 0.01) . The prevalence rate of metabolic syndrome in this group of individuals were 15. 1% (171/1136) , and increased with age (P<0.01). The most common combination of metabolic syndrome was central obesity-hypertension-dyslipidemia (40. 9% , 70/171). Unconditional logistic regression revealed that waist-hip-ratio, body mass index and uric acid were the risk factors for metabolic syndrome.

A total of 1342 individuals underwent physical examinations according to the criteria of metabolic syndrome of International Diabetes Federation (IDF) in 2005.And 314 patients with metabolic disorders were screened for diabetes by standard meal and methods oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT).Newly diagnosed diabetics was 12 (4.1％ ) vs.17 (5.8％) respectively.No significant difference existed between two methods (P =0.332).Kendall's (τ)b =0.313,Kendall's (τ)c =0.208 and Gamma coefficient =0.580 (P =0.000).The mixed meal method was correlated with OGTT,Kappa =0.258 (P =0.000) and two methods were consistent.Diabetic screening should be stressed in the subjects with metabolic abnormalities.And the detecting efficiency of postprandial plasma glucose is similar to OGTT.

Objective To find out a quick,simple and convenient method of determining the viability of Oncomelania hupen-sis. Methods O. hupensis snails were stained for 30 minutes by 0.05%water soluble dye neutral red,0.5%methylene blue,red ink,methylene blue-eosin-borax(MEB)and 0.4%trypan blue,respectively. The soft tissue samples of the snails were observed by a stereoscopic microscope after crushing their shells. Results The vital snails were stained and the dead were unstained in the neutral red. The vital and dead snails were unstained in methylene blue. However,the vital and dead snails were stained in red ink. The partial vital and dead snails were stained in MEB. The vital snails were stained and the partial dead were stained in trypan blue. Conclusion The use of 0.05%water soluble dye neutral red is simple,rapid and accurate in determination of the viability of O. hupensis.

BackgroundOptic nerve injury lead to apoptosis of retinal ganglion cells ( RGCs ), and its mechanism of apoptosis is endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS). So, decreasing of ERS may protect the injury of RGCs. ObjectiveThe present study was to investigate the mechanisms of endoplasmic reticulum stress(ERS) and the protective effects of human umbilical cord blood stem cells on partial optic nerve crush injury. MethodsThe optical nerves were crushed with a 40 g clip by holding for 60 seconds to establish the partial optical nerve injury model in the left eyes of 102 SPF SD rats,and 10 μl of mRNA and 10 μl of nerve growth factor were injected into the vitreous immediately after the establishment of the model. The morphological changes of retinal ganglion cells(RGCs) were examined under the light microscope after 3,7,14,21 and 28 days and the RGCs number was calculated. The apoptosis rates of RGCs were detected by the TUNEL technique after 3, 12,24,45,72 hours and 1 week. The expression levels of GRP78 mRNA and CHOP mRNA were detected by reverse transcription polymerase chain reation (RT-PCR). This procedure followed the Regulations for the Administration of Affair Concerning Experimental Animals by Hunan Provincial Science and Technology Committee.Results The number of RGCs was significantly decreased with the prolongation of time of optical nerve injury in the model injury group,whereas the number of RGCs in the human cord blood cells group was reduced at a slower rate( Ftime =20. 100,P =0. 007 ). At various time points after the injection of human cord blood cells, the survival of RGCs was evidently increased in comparison with the model group(P＜0. 01 ). The apoptosis rate of RGCs was considerably elevated with injury time prolongation both in the model group and human cord blood cells group,but no apoptosis was seen from 3-24 hours after operation,and only a small amount of apoptotic cells were found in the human cord blood cells group from 48 hours through 1 week than in the model group(P＜0. 01 ). In the human cord blood cells group,GRP78 mRNA level was significantly higher and the CHOP mRNA level was significantly lower than those in the injury group at identical time points(P＜0. 01 ). ConclusionsIn the rat optic nerve partial crush model,ERS induces the apoptosis of RGCs. Human umbilical cord blood stem cells can protect RGCs from ERS injury by inhibiting apoptosis.

Objective To explore the risk factors in children with epilepsy and their effects on attack rate of epilepsy.Methods One hundred and sixty epilepsy patients(patient group,88 boys and 72 girls)and 150 healthy children(control group,72 boys and 78 girls)were selected.All children conformed epilepsy at the west China second hospital were consecutively included in the study for 6 months period.The range of age was from 1 month to 16 years[(7.0?4.7)years old] of patient group children.All children with epilepsy had no-causation seizure for more than twice time and were diagnosed by electroencephalogram.Neurologically normal children in same period,matched for age and sex,visiting the health care clinic were selected as controls.The range of age was from 2 month to 16 years [(6.3?4.5)years old] of control group children.The risk factors examined were febrile convulsions,head trauma,central nervous system infections,abnormal perinatal history,family history of epilepsy and parental consanguinity.The data of patients and controls were obtained from a questionnaire through personal interviews.Details on the patient,family history,and parental age at the time of childbirth were included.Medical records were then reviewed.According to the data type,the statistics were performed with ?2 test and the significance level was the P

Objective This study was designed to compare the safety and efficacy of fast track surgery (FTS) with conventional perioperative management in colonl cancer patients undergoing radical resection.Methods From May 2011 to May 2013,66 patients with colorectal cancer were randomly assigned to FTS group and control group.Outcomes were assessed by length of postoperative hospital stay,medical cost,nutritional status,gut function,and postoperative complication.Results FTS group was associated with a significantly shorter postoperative hospital stay,lessmedical cost,earlier first passage of flatus,less loss of body weight in the postoperative period compared with control group,and there were no differences in morbidity or mortality between two groups.Conclusion The radical resection under the guidence of fast track rehabilitation is safe and effective method.Significantly reduce patients' perioparative stess response and accelerate the recovery.

AIM: To investigate the expression of EMMPRIN, MMP1, MMP9 and TIMP2 in retinoblastoma (RB) and normal retinal tissues and their clinicopathological significance and interrelationship.METHODS: Envision immunohistochemistry stainings of EMMPRIN, MMP1, MMP9 and TIMP2 were performed in 30 enucleated eyeballs with retinoblastoma and 15 specimens of normal retina tissue, which had been routinely imbedded with paraffin.RESULTS: Positive rate of EMMPRIN, MMP1, MMP9 expression was higher in RB tissue than in normal control (P<0.01), while TIMP2 expression was lower in RB than in normal retinal tissue (P<0.01). Samples from RB cases of clinical stage Ⅰ, differentiated type, and life span≥2 years had lower positive rate in expression of EMMPRIN, MMP1, MMP9 than those from RB cases of clinical stage Ⅲ, undifferentiated type, and life span<2 years (P<0.05 or P<0.01), while samples from RB cases of differentiated type, optic nerve unaffected, and life span≥2 years had markedly higher positive rate in expression of TIMP2 than those from RB cases of undifferentiated type, optic nerve involved and life span<2 years (P<0.05 or P<0.01). In RB tissues, EMMPRIN, MMP1, MMP9 expressions were highly consistent (P<0.05), whereas TIMP2 expression is highly inconsistent with EMMPRIN, MMP1, MMP9 expression levels (P<0.05).CONCLUSION: The expression level of EMMPRIN, MMP1, MMP9 and TIMP2 may be an important marker of RB progression, invasion and prognosis. There exist internally mutual regulation relations among them.

Objective To investigate the effect of adenovirus-bone morphogenic protein 9 ( Ad-BMP9 ) on osteogenic differentiation of immortalized calvarial mesenchymal progenitor cells ( iCALs ) .Methods iCALs were infected with adenoviral vectors encoding BMP-9 or green fluorescent protein ( GFP) and the early osteogenic differentiation was assessed by detecting alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity after being cultured for 3, 5 and 7 days.14 days after infection, alizarin red S staining was performed to study the formation of osteogenic calcium nodules .The expression of osteogenic marker genes Runx2 and OCN was assessed by quantitative real-time ( RT )-PCR and Western blotting .Results Significant increases in ALP activity and in the expressions of Runx 2 and OCN were detected in BMP-9 treated iCALs compared with GFP-treated cells(P<0.05).Meanwhile, alizarin red S staining showed that more mineralized nodules were found in the BMP-9 induced group .Conclusion BMP-9 can promote the osteogenic differentiation of iCALs .
