1.Recent advances in the study of abdominal wall endometriosis
Fudan University Journal of Medical Sciences 2010;37(1):116-118
Abdominal wall endometriosis (AWE) is defined as endometrial tissue superficial to the peritoneum. Many cases of AWE are associated with cesarean section scars. Thus, AWE is often misdiagnosed as a hernia or hematoma. The most common presentation of AWE is the development of a painful mass after uterine surgery. Many patients with AWE are associated with a previous surgical incision. Careful history and physical examination is essential to make correct diagnosis. Studies such as ultrasound, CT, MRI, and FNA are helpful. Medical treatment of AWEs is usually unsuccessful. Therefore, surgical treatment should be offered to every patient and the results usually are excellent. We performed a review of published literatures to demonstrate the pathogenesis, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and outcomes of patients having AWE.

Objective To study the effect of docosahexaenoic acid ( DHA ) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) on cognition impairment and huntingtin associated protein 1 ( HAP1 ) expression in hippocampus of rat model with Alzheimer' s disease(AD). Methods Forty healthy Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into control group, AD group, DHA group and EPA group on average. Alcl3 was injected intraperitoneally and D-galac tose was injected into subcutaneous to establish the model of rat with AD. ABC method of immunohistochemistry was used to observe the expression level of HAP1 in the hippocampus. Morris water maze was used to study the spatial learning and memory in rats. Results Compared with control group, the HAP1-positive neurons of hippo campus decreased and poorer performance in Morris water maze test was observed in AD group. Compared with AD group, DHA and EPA treatments significantly caused the decreases in escape latency and searching distance in the Morris water maze test. The number of HAP1- positive cells in DG region of DHA group(43.57 ±6.14) increased obviously compared with AD group( 28.56 ± 4.23 ) (P < 0.05 =. Conclusion The immunoreactivities of HAP1 decrease in hippocampus of AD rat. The applications of DHA and EPA in AD rats significantly improve the ability of learning and memory;and the mechanisms may be related to the decrease of HAP1 expressions in hippocampus.

Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Medical Sciences) 2008;28(4):401-8
In ischemic hypertrophic myocardium, contractile dysfunction can be attributed to the decreased calcium induced calcium release (CICR) in cytoplasm. This study aimed to investigate the electrophysiological properties and the expression of L calcium channel subunits in post-MI myocardium. The ischemic heart remodeling model was established in SD rats. The expressions of calcium channel subunits were determined by realtime RT-PCR. Whole cell patch clamp was used to record the electrophysiological properties of L calcium channel. The results showed that the L calcium channel agonist Bayk 8644 induced the significantly decreased CICR in the rat cardiomyocyte 6 weeks after myocardial infarction (MI). In the post-MI cardiomyocytes, the amplitude of I(CaL) decreased dramatically and the inactivation curve of the current shifted to more negative potential. At mRNA level, the expression of the calcium channel alpha1c, beta2c subunits decreased dramatically in the ventricle of post-MI rats. The expression of alpha2/delta subunit, however, remained constant. It is concluded that the abnormal expression of the L calcium channel subunits in post-MI cardiomyocytes contributes to the ICaL decrease at early stage of the ischemic remodeling in cardiomyocytes, which leads to the decreased CICR in the cell and contractile dysfunction of myocardium.

Objective To investigate the protective function and its mechanisms of eyclosporin A to immature brain tissue with convulsive brain damage. Methods 21-day-old SD rats were given lithium-pilocarpine to make the epilepsy model. Total 67 male rats had been investigated. Cyclosporin A (CsA) were injected three times at 6, 30, 54 hrs after model had been established. Three dosages had been chosen: 5, 10 and 25 mg/kg each time. The level of apoptotic cells, P-glycoprotein (P-gp), glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) in CA1 area of hippocampus had been determined, and compared with the rats without giving CsA. Results Rats from epilepsy model group had higher level of apoptosis, P-gp, GFAP expression than those from pseudo-model group. CsA injection by dose 5 mg/kg each time for three times reduced the level of P-gp, GFAP. Model group and pseudo-model group were same. Both the interventions of CsA injection by 10 mg/kg and 25 mg/kg can reduce the level of P-gp, GFAP, however neither of their effectiveness was better than CsA 5 mg/kg each time. Conclusions Small dosage of CsA may protect the immature brain tissue from convulsive brain damage by reducing the level of P-gp, GFAP in CA1 area of hippocampus.
