Objective:To evaluate the application values of small FOV surface coil and BLADE sequence in MR imaging on assessment of talar cartilage injury of ankle joint under traction. Methods:The clinical and imaging data of 53 patients with ankle cartilage injury in the Affiliated Suzhou Hospital of Nanjing Medical University from December 2018 to July 2020 were prospectively analyzed. All patients underwent the following MR sequences: sequence Ⅰ was fast spin echo proton density weighted (FSE-PD) BLADE sequence with surface coil small FOV, and sequence Ⅱ was FSE-PD-BLADE imaging of small FOV under horizontal load traction of ankle joint. Paired sample Wilcoxon rank sum test was used to compare the thickness of talus dome cartilage, cartilage space and subjective assessment score of image quality (including the outline of the upper surface of the cartilage at the injury, the thickness of the cartilage layer at the injury, the rupture of the cartilage at the injury, the relationship between cartilage and subchondral bone, subchondral bone collapse or trabecular fracture line) between sequence I and sequence Ⅱ.Results:There was significant difference in the thickness of central cartilage of talus between sequence Ⅰ and sequence Ⅱ [0.70 (0.60, 0.90) mm and 0.80 (0.70, 0.90) mm, Z=-2.900, P=0.004, respectively]. There was no significant difference in the thickness of medial and lateral talus cartilage between sequence Ⅰ and sequence Ⅱ (P>0.05). There were significant differences between sequence Ⅰ and sequence Ⅱ in the center [0.10 (0, 0.15), 0.89(0.63, 1.00) mm], medial [0.10(0, 0.31), 1.20(0.70, 1.25) mm] and lateral cartilage space [0.18(0.08, 0.23), 0.90(0.76, 0.94)mm] (all P<0.001). As for the subjective assessment score of talus cartilage injury, except for score in subchondral bone collapse or bone trabecular fracture line between sequence Ⅱ and sequence Ⅰ ( Z=-1.480, P=0.139), significant differences were found in all other scores ( P<0.05). Conclusion:MRI of the ankle under traction is safe and feasible. Under the condition of horizontal traction, small FOV surface coil combined with BLADE sequence can better display talus cartilage injury.

OBJECTIVETo explore risk factors of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in men in order to provide a theoretical basis for developing more effective NAFLD prevention and control strategies.
METHODSOne-hundred-and-two male patients (37.3+/-11.4 years old) hospitalized with NAFLD at the Dongnan Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University between January 2009 and December 2010 were enrolled in the study, along with 23 age-matched healthy men (34.4+/-16.7 years old) to serve as the control group. The correlation(s) of body mass index (BMI; overweight defined as more than or equal to 22.717 kg/m2), waist circumference (WC), waist-to-hip ratio (WHR; central obesity defined as more than or equal to 0.866), fasting plasma glucose (FPG), triglyceride (TG), and total cholesterol (TC) with NAFLD was analyzed by univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to select proper thresholds for classification.
RESULTSBMI, WC, WHR, FPG, TG, and TC were significantly different between the cases and controls (P less than 0.01). BMI, WC, WHR, TG and TC were identified as risk factors of NAFLD in these male cases (P less than 0.01). Relative to WC, TG and TC, both BMI and WHR had significant predictive value for NAFLD (odds ratio (OR) = 10.819 and 10.588, respectively). In addition, BMI had the highest diagnostic value for the prediction of NAFLD (area under the curve (AUC) = 0.931) followed by WHR (AUC = 0.879).
CONCLUSIONBMI, WC, WHR, TG, and TC are risk factors of NAFLD in Chinese men. BMI and WHR are effective anthroposomatology indices of NAFLD and may be useful factors on which to base future prevention and early diagnosis strategies for NAFLD in males.

This study was aimed to explore the prognostic significance of telomere length in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and to analyze relation of telomere length with Binet stage, IgVH mutation status, CD38, ZAP-70 expression as well as other clinical features. 35 CLL patients who contained 80% or more tumor cells in the peripheral blood or bone marrow samples were selected as objects studied, while 13 healthy donors were served as normal controls. The telomere relative length was detected by using a real-time fluorescent quantitative polymerase chain reaction method (qPCR); the expression of CD38 and ZAP-70 protein were detected by flow cytometry, the IgVH mutation was detected by multiplex PCR. The results showed that the mean telomere relative length in CLL patients and normal controls were 0.384 and 0.443 respectively, but the difference between them was not significant (p > 0.05). The telomere length was significantly correlated with Binet stages and IgVH mutation status. Patients in Binet stage B and C showed significantly shorter telomeres than those in Binet stage A (p = 0.001). Mean telomere relative lengths in patients without IgVH mutation were shorter than those in patients with IgVH mutation (p = 0.015). No relation of telomere length with sex, age, ZAP-70 protein and CD38 were found (p > 0.05). It is concluded that telomere length may have a prognostic significance for CLL patients. Combining telomere length and IgVH mutation status may achieve a better prognostic subclassification for CLL patients.

Desmoglein, which is a kind of Ca2+ dependent desmosomal cadherins protein,is a major part of the desmosomes. The desmoglein that distributes in the epithelium, myocardium and other tissues plays a very important role in the cell junction. In recent years, the detection of the abnormal expression and function of the desmoglein was proved in many diseases, such as skin, mucous membrane and tumor related diseases.Drugs may have an important effect in the treatment of diseases by interfering with the expression and function of desmoglein. In this paper, the distribution of several subtypes of the family of desmosomes and their functions in the related diseases are reviewed, which may also provide some new clues for the new drug research on the target of desmogleins.

Objective To explore the status of iodine nutrition and iodine deficiency disorders in the pasturing areas and agricultural regions in Tibet. Methods 30 families were selected respectively in pastoral Dangxiong county and agricultural Qushui county of Lasa. Drinking water and edible salt were collected for testing the iodine contents. In each type of the following populations including children aged 8-10, women of child-bearing age and male adults, 50 subjects were randomly sampled to examine their urinary iodine contents. Among them, 50 children and 50 women were randomly selected for goiter examination by palpation. Results Water iodine content was less than 2μg/L, both in pasturing area and in agricultural areas. There was no iodized salt used in the families of pasturing areas, while 90% people consumed iodized salt in agricultural areas. The median of urinary iodine in pasturing area was 50.2 μg/L, significantly lower than that of agricultural area (193.2μg/L). However, the goiter rate of children and women in pasturing area was significantly lower than that in agricultural area. Conclusion Although iodine intake of populations in pasturing area of Tibet was severely deficient, there was no epidemic of Iodine Deficiency Disorders. This phenomenon noticed by the researchers deserved further investigation.

This article reports the clinical and genetic features of two cases of cerebral creatine deficiency syndrome I (CCDSI) caused by SLC6A8 gene mutations. Both children were boys. Boy 1 (aged 2 years and 10 months) and Boy 2 (aged 8 years and 11 months) had the clinical manifestations of delayed mental and motor development, and convulsion. Their older brothers had the same symptoms. The mother of the boy 1 had mild intellectual disability. The genetic analysis showed two novel homozygous mutations, c.200G>A(p.Gly67Asp) and c.626_627delCT(p.Pro209Argfs*87), in the SLC6A8 gene on the X chromosome, both of which came from their mothers. These two novel mutations were rated as possible pathogenic mutations and were not reported in the literature before. This study expands the mutation spectrum of the SLC6A8 gene and has great significance in the diagnosis of boys with delayed development, and epilepsy.
