Objective:To investigate the eating disorder and mood among students of a female university in Beijing.Methods:352 female students from a same-sex college in Beijing,between the age of 17-25 years were in- vestigated by Eating Disorder Inventory(EDI)and Profile of Mood States-Short Form(POMS-SF).Their weight and height were also collected for calculating for their body mass index(BMI).Results:Female university students showed serious tendency of eating disorder.The negative attitudes to body and body satisfaction were serious among normal BMI female university students.The behaviors and attitudes to eating disorders among the students of fresh-woman and senior were significantly higher than other grades(x~2=17.94,P

OBJECTIVETo investigate the correlation between age and Gleason score (GS) in patients with prostate adenocarcinoma.

METHODSThis study included 674 patients with pathologically confirmed prostate adenocarcinoma. We determined the GS, primary grade, and secondary grade of the cases, and compared them among different age groups.

RESULTSThe mean age of the patients was (70.22 ± 8.26) yr, ranging from 25 to 96 years, (69.06 ± 8.35) yr in those with GS 6, (70.55 ± 8.16) yr in GS 7, (70.99 ± 6.54) yr in GS 8, (71.56 ± 9.18) yr in GS 9, and (72.79 ± 11.36) in GS 10. The mean GS, primary grade, and secondary grade were 7.08 ± 1.09, 3.54 ± 0.72, and 3.53 ± 0.66, respectively, and the mean GSs in the < 60 yr, 60-69 yr, 70-79 yr, and ≥ 80 yr groups were 6.86 ± 1.10, 6.99 ± 1.10, 7.08 ± 1.04, and 7.38 ± 1.23, respectively. Those with GS 6, 7, and ≥ 8 accounted for 37.7%, 34.3%, and 28.0%, respectively. The patients aged < 60, 60-69, 70-79, and ≥ 80 years constituted 10.5% (71/674), 30.6% (206/674), 47.6% (321/674), and 11.3% (76/674), respectively. The age of the patients was significantly correlated with GS (r2 = 0.013, P = 0.003) and the primary grade (r2 = 0.014, P = 0.002), but not the secondary grade (r2 = 0.005, P = 0.055).

CONCLUSIONOf the prostate adenocarcinoma patients, those aged ≥ 70 years form a larger proportion, and those with GS ≥ 7 comprise a higher percentage. The age of the patient is correlated with Gleason score but has a limited value in its prediction.

Objective To explore the effect of eletroacupuncture (EA) on angiogenesis after cerebral ischemia and reperfusion through observing the number of peripheral blood endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) and the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in the hippocampus.Methods Among 50 male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats,10 were randomly selected as a control group (CG).Qi deficiency and blood stasis were induced in the other 40 rats by intragastric administration of dahuang daily for 7 days.A model of focal cerebral ischemia and reperfusion injury was then created by thread-occlusion of the middle cerebral artery,except in 10 rats selected for the sham operation group (SOG) who received the same operation without tightening the thread.The successfully modeled rats were divided into a model group (MG,n =10) and an electroacupuncture group (EAG,n =10).The rats in EAG started acupuncture treatment the next day after modeling,while no treatment was given to those in the other groups.On day 1,3 and 7 after the modeling,the neurological functioning of the 4 groups was assessed using Basso-Beattie-Bresnahan locomotion scoring and the number of EPCs in the peripheral circulation was detected by flow cytometry.On the 8th day,all the rats were decapitated and the VEGF expression was detected immunohistochemically.Results The average BBB locomotion score of the EAG rose significantly from (4.50 ± 1.05) on day 1,to (13.67 ± 1.21) on day 3,and then further to (20.00 ±0.89) by day 7,significantly higher than that of MG at the same time points,but still significantly lower than that of the control group.The average number of EPCs in the peripheral circulation in the MG also increased from (26.83 ± 6.05) on day 1 to (33.67 ± 5.39) on day 3,and decreased to (32.83 ± 5.04) on day 7 after modeling,significantly lower than that of the CG [(45.50 ±9.40),(42.17 ±4.62) and (41.33 ±5.50)],the SOG [(58.00 ±8.05),(59.67±4.84) and (53.83 ±5.38)[and the EAG [(66.17 ±4.36),(127.50 ±73.75) and (55.00 ±35.15)] at each time point.After occlusion,the average expression of VEGF-positive cells in the hippocampus of the EAG [(27.80 ± 2.39)％] was significantly higher than that of the MG,and both were significantly higher than that of the CG.Conclusions Eletroacupuncture can up-regulate VEGF expression and EPCs in the peripheral blood in rats after cerebral ischemia-reperfusion,which can promote angiogenesis and neural functional recovery.

Objective To observe the effect of Xiaotan Hezhong Recipe on pancreatic fibrosis forming and the expression of related proteins in model rats of chronic pancreatitis. Methods Twenty-four Wistar rats were randomly divided into normal group, model group, pancreatin group and Chinese medicine group (n=6). Rats model were made by DDC solution intraperitoneal injection. Pancreatin group and Chinese medicine group were treated by intragastric administration with pancreatin and Xiaotan Hezhong Recipe, respectively. Body weight of rats was measured regularly. The rats were killed after 4 weeks, with pancreatic pathological detection and laminin, matrix metalloproteinase-1 detection. Results After intraperitoneal injection of DDC solution, pancreatic tissue fibrosis in different degree and inflammatory cell infiltration were found. Chinese medicine group was better than the model group in general conditions, body weight change, pancreatic pathological score and expression of laminin, matrix metalloproteinase-1, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Xiaotan Hezhong Recipe can improve chronic pancreatitis rats generally and inhibit pancreatic fibrosis, its mechanism may be related with decreasing laminin expression and increasing the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-1.

OBJECTIVETo explore the basic features of the prostate carcinoma Gleason grading system of the International Society of Urological Pathology (ISUP).

METHODSWe analyzed the means and proportions of the Gleason score (GS), primary grade (PG), secondary grade (SG) and third grade (TG) of 667 cases of prostate carcinoma.

RESULTSThe means of GS, PG, SG and TG were 7.06 +/- 1.10, 3.53 +/- 0.66, 3.53 +/- 0.72 and 4.30 +/- 0.96, respectively. The cases with GS 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 accounted for 0.4% (3/677), 37.2% (252/677), 34.4% (233/677), 13.7% (93/677), 12.0% (81/677) and 2.2% (15/677), respectively; those with GS < or = 6 and > or = 7 constituted 37.7% (255/677) and 62.3% (422/677); those with GS3 + 3, 4 + 3 and 3 + 4 made up 37.2% (252/677), 19.2% (130/677) and 15.2% (103/677); and the TG cases held 10.3% (70/677), including 30.0% (21/70) of grade 3, 10% (7/70) of grade 4 and 60.0% (42/70) of grade 5.

CONCLUSIONOur study showed a high proportion of GS, a low proportion of GS < or = 6, and a high proportion of GS > or = 7 in the ISUP prostate carcinoma Gleason grading system. TG of GS needs to be further understood.

[Objective]To investigate the characteristics and clinical results of open reduction and internal fixation for fractures of the calcaneus for earthquake patients.[Method]The fractures were classified according to Sanders classification.Fifteen cases(24 fractures) were treated by open reduction and internal fixation.Thirteen cases(21 fractures) were followed up from four,four and half months(average of 4.2 months).[Result]All fractures had been healed.Functional results were evaluated using Marryland Foot Score and excellent results occured in 9(42.9%),good in 10(47.6%),fair in 2(9.5%) and the satisfactory rate was 90.5%.Two cases of incision infection were cured by skin flap transplantation.[Conclusion]Open reduction and internal fixation is an effective method for treatment of displaced intra-articular fractures of the calcaneus.Earthquake patients are not fit for early operation.They should be treated with operation after normal functional index and stable psychological situation.
