Professor XIE Qiang's Tihu Guanding needling method, a kind of acupuncture method which takes acupoints of the Conception Vessel as the primary and acupoints of the Governor Vessel as the secondary. Acupoints Lianquan (CV 23), Tiantu (CV 22), Qihai (CV 6), Zhongwan (CV 12), Baihui (GV 20) and Dazhui (GV 14) are adopted as the basic ones. Other points can be added according to various symptoms, for instance, Yingxiang (LI 20) and Yintang (GV 29) for rhinopathy, Tinggong (SI 19) and Yifeng (TE 17) for otopathy, Yan'an (Professor XIE's experience) and Shanglianquan (EX-HN 21) for pharyngopathy and Kaiyin 1 (Professor XIE's experience) and Kaiyin 2 (Professor XIE's experience) for laryngopathy. During the needle retention, rotation manipulation should be done every 5 min at Lianquan (CV 23). And the patient should be told to put the tip of one's tongue at the the palate as well as to do deep breathing to communicate the Conception Vessel and the Governor Vessel. Moxibustion is adopted at Yongquan (KI 1) to induce the up floating fire to mingmen (where the primary yang is stored). The therapeutic effect on treatment of persistent otorhinolaryngologic diseases with the above mentioned method is approve to be good.

Microbiology 1992;0(05):-
There exist a number of mercury-resistant bacterial in environment, Mer operon is involved in the resistant mechanism, MerRTPA of Mer operon encodes the proteins related to the regulation, transport and reduction of mercury ion, respectively. The toxic mercury ion is transported by MerTP from medium to cytoplasmic mercuric reductase, MerA, and deoxidized to non-toxic and volatile element mercury, Hg(0). Bacterial mercury-resistant system originated from ancient times, and evolved into the Mer operon with diversity by gene integration and insertion. Mercury-resistant bacteria highly specifically absorb mercury ion, and can be used in recovering the mercury-polluted environment as well as the genetic selective marker.

AIM: To evaluate the effects of the combination of ketamine (KT) and N-acetylcysteine (NAC) on damage following cerebral ischemia/reperfusion in ICR mice. METHODS: Male ICR mice were randomly divided into seven groups: Sham group, NS (saline 0.1 ml?kg -1 ) group, KT (15 mg?kg -1 ) group, NAC (75 mg?kg -1 ) group, NAC+KT (75+15 mg?kg -1 ) group. (1) ICR mice underwent two hours cerebral ischemia by transient right middle cerebral artery occlusion (tMCAO) and followed 6 h and 24 h reperfusion. Then brains were prepared for the determination of the infarction volume. Before the death, neurological deficits were scored. (2) ICR mice subjected to five minutes ischemia by two common carotid arteries occlusion (2-VO) and followed 0.5 , 2 and 6 h reperfusion. Brains were prepared for the determination of the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and the content of MDA. RESULTS: (1) tMCAO produced severe neurological deficits, decreased the average score and brought about large infarction volume. KT, NAC showed the improvement of the average score and reduced infarction volume to some extent, and KT+NAC improved significantly. (2) The content of the MDA, the activities of GSH-Px and SOD in 2-VO mice deteriorated sharply, KT, NAC reduced the content of the MDA, enhanced the activities of GSH-Px and SOD, NAC+KT significantly ameliorated the levels of MDA, increased the activity of SOD and GSH-Px. CONCLUSION: The damage of cerebral ischemia/reperfusion leads to the decrease of neurological score, the increase of infarction volume, the reduction of activities of SOD and GSH-Px and the elevation of MDA. KT and NAC partly relieve the damage, and NAC and KT in combination attenuates the damage more effectively.

Journal of Preventive Medicine 2022;34(4):330-334
Objective:
To investigate the current status of syphilis treatment and its influencing factors among pregnant and lying-in women in Zhejiang Province, so as to promote the standardized treatment for pregnant and lying-in women with syphilis.
Methods :
The sociodemographic characteristics ( age, educational level, ethnicity, marital status, occupation ), fertility ( gravidity, parity, number of children, and adverse pregnancy history ), gestational week at the first antenatal care visit and syphilis treatment ( treatment or not, standardized treatment or not, and antibody titer ) were collected from the pregnant and lying-in women with syphilis infections delivered in Zhejiang Province in 2018, based on the Zhejiang Provincial Information Management System for Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of AIDS, Syphilis and Hepatitis B. Factors affecting the treatment of syphilis infections were identified using a structural-equation model.
Results:
A total of 2 061 pregnant and lying-in women with syphilis infections were included, with a median age of 29 years and a mean gestational week at the first antenatal care visit of ( 14.33±11.85 ) weeks, and there were 844 women ( 40.95% ) diagnosed in early pregnancy ( <13 weeks of gestational age ). There were 1 978 cases ( 95.97% ) receiving syphilis treatment, and 1 616 cases ( 78.41% ) received standardized treatment. The structural-equation modeling analysis showed that the gestational age at the first antenatal care visit and fertility had direct impacts on the treatment of syphilis infections among pregnant and lying-in women, with standardized path coefficients of -0.187 and -0.157 (both P<0.05 ), respectively, and the sociodemographic characteristics affected the treatment of syphilis through the mediating role of fertility, with a standardized path coefficient of 0.070 ( P<0.05 ).
Conclusions
The proportion of syphilis treatment is more than 95% among pregnant and lying-in women in Zhejiang Province, which achieves the required process criteria for validation of elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV and syphilis. Gestational week at the first antenatal care visit, fertility status, and sociodemographic characteristics are factors affecting the treatment syphilis infections during pregnancy.

Objective:To explore the correlation between cognitive impairment and intestinal mucosal barrier injury in rats after chronic cerebral hypoperfusion(CCH), and to quantitatively analyze the changes in cognitive behavior of experimental rats caused by chronic cerebral hypoperfusion, as well as the expression changes of the intestinal mucosal barrier claudin-1 and osteopontin. Methods:Thirty male SD rats were randomly divided into CCH group ( n=15) and sham operation (SHAM) control group ( n=15). The CCH model was established by permanent ligation of bilateral common carotid arteries.Rats in the SHAM group only separated the common carotid artery without ligation.Four weeks later, open field experiment, object discrimination experiment, and Morris water maze experiment were used to detect the emotional arousal ability, the ability to explore new things, and the ability of spatial learning and memory in rats.HE staining and immunofluorescence experiments were conducted to detect the damage of rat ileum tissue.Western blot was used to detect OPN expression, and ELISA was used to detect serum OPN.SPSS 23.0 and GraphPad 8.0 statistical softwares were used to process the data, and the t-test and repeated measures one-way analysis of variance were used for data analysis. Results:In the open field test, compared with the SHAM group ((28.70±10.70)times, (1 030.45±81.51)cm), the number of standing and total exercise distance of rats in the CCH group ((16.70±7.13)times, (736.64±136.71)cm) were decreased( t=1.59, 4.16, both P<0.05). In the object discrimination experiment, the discrimination index of rats in the CCH group (0.44±0.26) was lower than that of the SHAM group (0.91±0.07, t=-7.76, P<0.05). Morris water maze positioning navigation experiment showed that the group main effect and time main effect were both significant( F=383.36, 153.87, P<0.05). Simple effect analysis showed that, compared with the SHAM group, the escape latency and total swimming distance of rats in CCH group increased( P<0.05). Space exploration experiment showed that, compared with SHAM group ((7.20±1.81)times, (9.96±2.95)s), the number of crossings of rats in CCH group ((3.00±0.82)times) decreased, and the incubation period ((29.70±6.28)s) was prolonged( t=4.65, 7.04, both P<0.05). The intestinal mucosal pathology score of SHAM group ((1.98±0.34)points) was lower than that of the CCH group ((4.52±0.27)points), and the difference was significant( t=18.53, P<0.01). Immunofluorescence experiment showed that, compared with SHAM group (125 028.58±33 077.39), the cumulative optical density of claudin-1 between the intestinal epithelial cells of the CCH group(47 154.50±7 507.29) decreased( t=16.10, P<0.01). Western blot experiment showed that, compared with the SHAM group (0.38±0.11), the expression of OPN in the intestines of the CCH group (1.20±0.95) increased( P<0.05). ELISA experiment showed that, compared with the SHAM group ((3.42±0.66)μg/L), the serum OPN content of the CCH group ((14.92±1.45)μg/L) significantly increased( P<0.05). The degree of cognitive impairment was negatively correlated with intestinal mucosal epithelial claudin-1 expression and serum OPN content( P<0.01). Intestinal mucosal epithelial claudin-1 expression was negatively correlated with serum OPN content ( r=-0.952, P<0.01). Conclusion:CCH may cause obvious cognitive impairment in rats and the destruction of the intestinal mucosal barrier.Serum OPN may be a potential serological marker of CCH-induced cognitive impairment and intestinal mucosal barrier destruction in rats.

This study was aimed to identify and distinguish Metacordyceps liangshanensis recorded by the Sichuan Province Traditional Chinese Medicine Standard from its adulterants and its relative species by combining ITS and COI barcode sequences in order to study the feasibility of this new method. After extracting DNA of 28 species of Cordyceps samples, DNA were amplified and sequenced. And then, ITS and COI sequences were received. Codon-Code Aligner V3.7.1 and Mega 5.0 were used to analyze the variable site and construct the N-J tree. The results showed that the minimum ITS inter-specific K-2P distance was relatively higher than the maximum intra-specific K-2P distance. The inter-specific sequence divergence between M. liangshanensis and its adulterants exhibited high while intra-specific sequence divergence exhibited low. And COI one was the same case. N-J tree of both ITS and COI indicated that same genus belonged together and each species belonged to relatively independent branch. It was concluded that based on the ITS and COI gene, the technology of DNA barcode can be an excellent identification of M. liangshanensis, its adulterants and its relative species. It provided technical support for the further research on species molecular identification and phylogenetics of Cordyceps .
