1.Survey on Infection Preventive Behaviors for COVID-19 Among Children and Parents

Introduction: We aimed to investigate the actual situation of infection preventive behaviors among children, and to investigate changes in parent-child physical contact during the COVID-19 pandemic.Method: We conducted an anonymous questionnaire survey among parents whose children attended the Certified Public Childcare Center in Toyota City between February and March 2021. Descriptive statistics, univariate analysis (Spearman's correlation coefficient, Fisher's exact test), and multivariate analysis were performed.Result: A total of 767 parents responded to the survey. Among them, 78.6% of parents and 76.2% of children always washed their hands when they got home.92.7% of parents and 68.9% of children always wore masks when going out. Breastfeeding and face-to-face contact tended to decrease compared to other behaviors (p < 0.001), but there was most often no change in the frequency of parent-child physical contact.Conclusion: It was difficult for children to take the same infection preventive behaviors as adults. Changes in the frequency of parent-child physical contact were not observed in many parents and children.
2.Assessment and future development of the WHO/WPRO standardization of acupuncture point locations

[Introduction] In 2006 the WHO and WPRO agreed on standard acupuncture point locations. To promotepagate these standards, in 2009 the Second Japan Acupuncture Standardization Committee published a Japanese edition of 'WHO STANDARD ACUPUNCTURE POINT LOCATIONS FOR THE WESTERN PACIFIC REGION.' Based on this Japanese edition, a new textbook was published by the Japan Association of Massage & Acupuncture Teachers and the Japan College Association of Oriental Medicine. Since one year has passed since the start of education based on standard acupuncture point locations at Japanese universities, colleges, vocational schools and training centers for anma (Japanese traditional massage), massage, and shiatsu (acupressure); acupuncture; and moxibustion therapies, we administered a questionnaire survey as an evaluation of international standardization and the problems of introducing standard acupuncture point locations .
[Subjects and methods] Subjects were mainly teachers and included a small number of researchers, clinicians, and other groups concerned with acupuncture and moxibustion. We used a questionnaire that we originally created at the Second Meeting of the Japan Standardization of Acupuncture Point Locations Committee.
[Results] Among the 180 institutions surveyed, we obtained answers from 149 people from 93 institutions in total. Agreement on the question of standard acupuncture points, "functional existence" (44.3%) was most common, and "anatomical existence" came next at 26.6%. For the question on acupuncture treatment, 82.4% replied with "use ofboth acupuncture points and reaction points." For the answers to agreeing with international standardization, "no opinion" was 41.7% and 51.7% for "appreciate." However, both of those groups appreciated globalization of acupuncture and moxibustion by a common language. There were many opinions on proportional bone measurement. Specifically, opinions indicated a change "from the cubital crease to the wrist crease" (from 10B-cun to 12B-cun) and a need for proportional bone measurement of the upper arm. Whereas, for individual acupuncture points, opinions expressed the difficulty of locating application points and not understanding reasons for change and notations including body surface segments.
[Discussion] We were able to classify the opinions collected into the following groups: (1) problems that can be corrected immediately, including typographic errors, (2) problems that need to be reviewed at the next international gathering, and (3)problems that need to be understood by making full use of related documents.
[Conclusion] We were able to determine primarily for a wide range of teachers, problems understanding individual acupuncture point locations, including consideration of acupuncture points, evaluation of standardization of acupuncture point locations, and other guidelines
3.Comparison of the Efficacy of Piperacillin/Tazobactam and Meropenem, with or without Intravenous Immunoglobulin, as Second-Line Therapy for Febrile Neutropenia: A Prospective, Randomized Study

Background:
Febrile neutropenia (FN) remains an important complication in pediatric cancer patients. The present study compared the efficacy of meropenem (MEPM) and piperacillin/tazobactam (PIPC/TAZ) with or without intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) as second-line therapy for FN in pediatric patients.
Methods:
As first-line treatment for FN, 394 episodes in 99 patients were randomly assigned to receive PIPC/TAZ (360 mg/kg/day, maximum 18 g/day) or MEPM (120 mg/ kg/day, maximum 3 g/day). Eighty-four episodes in 42 patients were judged as failures, and, thus, were enrolled for second-line treatment. In second-line treatment, antibiotics were switched to MEPM or PIPC/TAZ, and episodes were further randomized for treatment with or without concomitant IVIG at 100 mg/kg/day (maximum 5 g/day) for 3 consecutive days.
Results:
The total success rate of second-line treatment was 50.0% (52.0% in PIPC/ TAZ and 47.2% in MEPM with or without IVIG, P=0.826). The success rates of patients treated with (IVIG+ group) and without IVIG (IVIG− group) were 53.8 and 46.7%, respectively (P=0.662). In the IVIG+ group, the success rate of patients younger than 8 years old was 78.6%, which was significantly higher than that of those aged 8 years and older (40.0%, P=0.043).
Conclusion
PIPC/TAZ and MEPM were equally effective as second-line treatment. Concomitant IVIG was also effective, particularly in patients younger than 8 years.
4.Intralobar Nephroblastomatosis Mimicking Wilms Tumor Treated with Chemotherapy after Removal of the Affected Kidney

Nephroblastomatosis (NBM) is a precursor of Wilms tumor. We herein report a case in which Wilms tumor was initially suspected and the affected kidney was removed.The tumor was subsequently diagnosed as intralobar NBM and a favorable outcome was achieved with postoperative chemotherapy. A 2-year-old boy who presented with gross hematuria was found to have an enlarged left kidney with hydronephrosis.Needle biopsy of the left kidney suggested Wilms tumor and left nephrectomy was performed. The tumor was histopathologically diagnosed as intralobar NBM.Although NBM is regarded as a precancerous lesion, a definite treatment plan has not yet been established. In the present case, we used a similar chemotherapy regimen to that for Wilms tumor. Eight years after the completion of chemotherapy, Wilms tumor has not developed or recurred. Appropriate management plans need to be developed by accumulating similar cases.

Online databases are crucial infrastructures to facilitate the wide effective and efficient use of mouse mutant resources in life sciences. The number and types of mouse resources have been rapidly growing due to the development of genetic modification technology with associated information of genomic sequence and phenotypes. Therefore, data integration technologies to improve the findability, accessibility, interoperability, and reusability of mouse strain data becomes essential for mouse strain repositories. In 2020, the RIKEN BioResource Research Center released an integrated database of bioresources including, experimental mouse strains, Arabidopsis thaliana as a laboratory plant, cell lines, microorganisms, and genetic materials using Resource Description Framework-related technologies. The integrated database shows multiple advanced features for the dissemination of bioresource information. The current version of our online catalog of mouse strains which functions as a part of the integrated database of bioresources is available from search bars on the page of the Center (https://brc.riken.jp) and the Experimental Animal Division (https://mus.brc.riken.jp/) websites. The BioResource Research Center also released a genomic variation database of mouse strains established in Japan and Western Europe, MoG+ (https://molossinus.brc.riken.jp/mogplus/), and a database for phenotype-phenotype associations across the mouse phenome using data from the International Mouse Phenotyping Platform. In this review, we describe features of current version of databases related to mouse strain resources in RIKEN BioResource Research Center and discuss future views.

7.Homograft Replacement for Repeated Pseudoaneurysm after Aortic Valve Surgery in a Patient with Behçet Disease

Patients with Behçet disease often develop postoperative valve detachment and pseudoaneurysm as a potentially fatal complication following aortic valve surgery, necessitating re-operation in a few cases. A 37-year-old man underwent 5 aortic valve and aortic root surgeries for the management of valve detachment after initial aortic valve replacement. Evaluation during the course of his disease revealed incomplete Behçet disease. He presented with high fever and Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteremia during the introduction of immunosuppressive therapy with infliximab. Contrast computed tomography revealed a pseudoaneurysm around the aortic root, and an aortic root replacement was performed using an aortic homograft after administration of a 6-week course of vancomycin. The patient is being observed at our outpatient clinic and has demonstrated no complications after 5 years from his last surgery.
