Objective To explore the link management strategy, and to improve the quality of care and patient satisfaction level in the day-care operation ward of urology department. Methods A total of 166 patients who had day-care urinary surgery in Ningbo First Hospital from March to September 2017 were selected in this study using purposive sampling. The link management was conducted including strict inclusion criteria for patients, regulations and process management, human resource management, management of admission, hospitalization, and discharging. The normal discharge rate, general hospitalization rate, readmission rate, and satisfaction level were evaluated in these patients. Results Of all the participants, 98.19% of the patients safely discharged within 24 h, with 1.81% of them were transferred to the general ward. The re-admission rate was 0.60%. Under the link management, patients' satisfaction level regarding service, technology, communication, and health education were significantly higher compared with general surgery patients (P<0.01). Conclusions The link management strategy can ensure the quality of medical care in day-care surgery ward of urology department. It can also meet the patients' needs and improve their satisfaction with day surgery.
