1.A DNBS-induced model of ulcerative colitis in rats
Journal of Chongqing Medical University 1986;0(04):-
Objective:To build the model of ulcerative colitis(UC) induced by 2,4-dinitrobenzenesulfonic acid (DNBS).Methods:The experimental UC was induced in Wistar rats by enema with 0.25ml of 18% DNBS dissolved in ethanol. Results:DNBS caused severe diarrhea with colorectal bleeding for 2~3 days and mucous diarrhea for 21 days. The pathologic changes of the colon included hyperemia, edema, ulcerations localized in colonic mucosa, depletion of goblet cells and formation of crypt abscess. Conclusion:The DNBS-induced model of UC in rats is similar to human UC,and has such advantages as easy replication, low toxicity and cheapness.
2.Hath1 expression is down-regulated in colon non-mucinous adenocarcinomas compared with the expression in normal colon mucosa
Journal of Chongqing Medical University 2003;0(05):-
Objective:To investigate the Hath1 expression in colon non-mucinous adenocarcinomas. Methods:Sections of paraffinembedded tissues were used to investigate the goblet cell population of normal colon mucosa, mucosa adjacent colon cancer and colon cancer samples which came from 48 patients with colon non-mucinous adenocarcinoma.Hath1 and Muc2 expression in these samples were tested by immunohistochemistry, quantitative real-time reverse transcription-PCR and Western blot. Results:There were not any goblet cell to be found in colon cancr. The levels of Hath1 mRNA and Hath1,Muc2 mRNA and Muc2 were significantly down-regulated in colon cancer. Conclusion:The down-regulation of Hath1 expression may correlate with colon carcinogenesis.
3.Inhibitory effect of urinary trypsin inhibitor on protease activity in the colonic tissues of ulcerative colitis rats
Journal of Chongqing Medical University 1987;0(01):-
Objective:To determine the effect of urinary trypsin inhibitor(UTI)on protease activity in the colonic tissues of ulcerative colitis(UC) rats. Methods:The experimental UC was induced in Wistar rats by enema with 0.25ml of 18% 2,4-dinitrobenzenesulfonic acid (DNBS) dissolved in ethanol.UTI was injected into the rats through the caudal vein.Protease activity present in colonic tissues was determined on gelatin zymograms. Results:The protease activity which presented in colonic tissues of the group treated with UTI was only 1/3 that of the control. Conclusion:The protease activity decreased significantly after we treated the rats with UTI.

Objective To compare the short-term results of rectal cancer treated either by laparoscopic or open total mesorectal excision(TME). Methods A series of 165 unselected consecutive patients with rectal cancer from August 2002 to December 2005, who decided to accept the laparoscopic or open TME, were included in this study. The following parameters were compared between the two groups: length of the surgical specimen, distance between the distal incisal edge of the rectum and the inferior margin of the tumor, the number of the lymph nodes resected, local recurrence rate, incidence of distant metastases, and 2 year survival rate. The mean follow-up period for both groups was 26.9 months (range, 6-46 months). Results Demographic data and Dukes stage were matched in two groups. The mean length of the resected specimens was 24.4 cm in the laparoscopic TEM group and 25.2 cm in the open TEM group. The distance from the distal incisal edge of the rectum to the inferior margin of the tumor was 2.9 cm in the laparoscopic TEM group and 2.7 cm in the open TEM group, and the mean number of lymph nodes scavenged was 11.5 in the laparoscopic TEM group and 10.6 in the open TEM group. The local recurrence rate after laparoscopic resection was 9.6%, as compared with 11% after open resection. Distant metastases occurred in 11.5% of the patients in the laparoscopic group, whereas it was 14.6% in the open group. Two year survival rate was 85.7% and disease free survival was 76.2% after laparoscopic resection and compared to 78.8% and 69.7% after open resection. All above parameters did not show statistically different between the two groups. Conclusion The oncologic resection and the early outcomes are comparable between the two surgical approaches.

Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics and spatial distribution of human brucellosis in Fujian province during 2011-2016,and provide evidence for the prevention and control of the disease. Methods The surveillance data of human brucellosis in Fujian during 2011-2016 was analyzed with software R 3.3.1,ArcGIS 10.3.1,GeoDa 1.8.8 and SaTScan 9.4.3.Results During 2011-2016,a total of 319 human brucellosis cases were reported, the incidence increased year by year (F=11.838,P=0.026) with the annual incidence of 0.14/100 000.The male to female rate ratio of the incidence was 2.50 ∶ 1.Farmers and herdsmen accounted for 57.37%.The incidence was 0.40/100 000 in Zhangzhou and 0.32/100 000 in Nanping, which were higher than other areas. The number of affected counties (district) increased from 12 in 2011 to 28 in 2016,showing a significant increase (F=13.447,P=0.021).The Moran' s I of brucellosis in Fujian between January 2011 and December 2016 was 0.045,indicating the presence of a high value or low value clustering areas.Local spatial autocorrelation analysis showed that,high-high clustering area (hot spots) were distributed in Zhangpu,Longhai,Longwen, etc, while high-low clustering areas were distributed in Nan' an and Jiaocheng, etc.Temporal scanning showed that there were three clustering areas in areas with high incidence, the most possible clustering, occurring during January 1,2013-December 31,2015,covered 6 counties, including Yunxiao,Pinghe,Longhai, etc, and Zhangpu was the center,(RR =7.96,LLR=92.62,P<0.001).Conclusions The epidemic of human brucellosis in Fujian is becoming serious, and has spread to general population and non-epidemic areas. It is necessary to strengthen the prevention and control of human brucellosis in areas at high risk.
