BACKGROUND:Biodegradable implants cannot only rebuild bone defect site, moreover, with the gradual degradation of the materials, new bone tissue can completely replace the graft materials to fil bone defects. OBJECTIVE:To summarize the research progress of biodegradable materials combined with osteogenic factor in orthopedics. METHODS: We took the “biodegradable materials, factors, cel active factor, bone tissue engineering” as the search terms in Chinese and English, respectively, to retrieve the related literatures from PubMed, Wanfang and CNKI database during 2000 to 2015 by computer. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Biodegradable medical polymer materials can be divided into natural polymer materials and synthetic biodegradable materials. Natural polymeric materials have good biocompatibility, but poor mechanical strength. The mechanical strength of synthetic biodegradable materials is higher than that of natural polymer materials, but the synthetic biodegradable materials are likely to cause local accumulation of acidic substances, produce local inflammation. The biodegradable medical polymer materials combined with osteogenic factor can improve the mechanical strength and osteoinductive ability of materials, but as a bone repair material, it stil has many problems to be solved.

Objective To analyze strain characteristics of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy(HCM) and explore the clinical value of strain rate imaging in differentiating HCM from hypertensive left ventricular hypertrophy(H-LVH). Methods Parameters of strain and strain rate were obtained and compared among 23 HCM patients, 30 patients with H-LVH and 20 healthy people(control group). Results In HCM group, systolic strain(?_ sys ),peak systolic strain rate(SR_ sys ), early diastolic strain rate(SR_ dia ) obtained from inter-ventricle septum(IVS) were smaller than that obtained from left ventricle posterior wall(LVPW), while SR_a increased in IVS. ?_ sys ,SR_ sys ,SR_ dia in both patients with HCM and H-LVH were smaller than that in control group, while atrial systolic strain rate(SR_a) increased in HCM group and H-LVH group. ?_ sys , SR_ sys , SR_ dia , SR_a obtained from IVS and ?_ sys , SR_ dia obtained from LVPW in HCM group showed statistic differences compared with H-LVH group. Conclusions Strain rate imaging could accurately detect the abnormal regional myocardial function of HCM and can be applied as a useful tool in discriminating HCM from H-LVH.

Anti-tyrosinase assay guided isolation of marine-derived fungus Botrytis sp.led to separation of three ?-pyrone compounds. The structures of these compounds were elucidated by various physicochemical analytical methods. The bioactivities of these ?-pyrone derivatives were evaluated in terms of anti-tyrosinase activity.By correlating the bioactivities of these compounds with their structures,it concluded that the ?-pyrone with pentyl group gives highest anti-tyrosinase activity.
4.DNA Prime-BCG Boost Vaccination Strategy Improved The Protective Efficacy Against M. tuberculosis H37Rv in Mice
Progress in Biochemistry and Biophysics 2006;0(07):-
The immunogenicity and protective efficacy of combined DNA priming, Bacillus Calmeette Guerin(BCG) boosting vaccination in mice were examined. Following intravenous challenge with virulent M. tuberculosis H37Rv, the BCG boost approach resulted in significant protection in both lungs (1.3, P

Objective To explore the value of virtual touch tissue quantification(VTQ) in diagnosis of mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MECa) of parotid gland. Methods The sonographic and VTQ findings of 36 patients with MECa of parotid gland proved by pathology were analyzed retrospectively. The patients were divided into 3 groups according to pathology.50 normal subjects were choesn as control group. Results There were significant differences of shear wave velocity (SWV) between MECa groups and control group as well as among MECa groups (all P <0.01).Conclusions VTQ provides quantitative information about tissue stiffness which is useful for the diagnosis of MECa of parotid gland.

ObjectiveObserve the efficacy, toxicity and the effection of telomerase activity of allicin combined with paclitaxel plus cisplatin and 5-Fu(TFP)chemotherapy for patients with advanced gastric carcinoma.MethodsFifty-four patients with advanced gastric carcinoma were randomly divided into two groups. A group was treated with allicin and TFP, B group was only treated with TFP. The chemotherapy was paclitaxel (135 mg/m2, dl, 8) plus cisplatin (75 mg/m2, d2-4) followed by 5-Fu (500 mg/m2 d1-5). Allicin was used in 60 days(3 times every day, once 20 mg).Telomerase activity was performed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. ResultsThe total efficiency rate was 40.7 % (11/27) in A group and 33.3 % (9/27) in B group. There was no statistical difference between the two groups(~ = 0.079,P =0.779).There was significant difference in nausea and vomit (P =0.043), and the incidence of A group was 77.8 % (21/27) which was lower than that of B group[92.6 %(25/27)].There was statistical difference in telomerase activity between the two groups(P =0.000).ConclusionAllicin could reduce the toxicity of chemotherapy and inhibit the telomerase activity in advanced gastric carcinoma.

Objective:To investigate the influencing factors for orthostatic hypotension(OH)in elderly patients with hypertension. Methods:This was a case-control study.A total of 224 patients with hypertension aged over 65 years were included. After resting for more than 5 minutes, subjects had their blood pressures measured in the supine and standing position at 0 min, 1 min, 2 min and 3 min.OH was defined as a fall in systolic BP of more 20 mmHg(1 mmHg=0.133 kPa)and/or diastolic BP below 10 mmHg of baseline within 3 min in the upright position.Subjects were divided into the OH group( n=34)and the non-OH group( n=190). Baseline data, comorbidities and differences in medications were compare between the OH group and the non-OH group, and the influencing factors for OH were analyzed. Results:The proportion of drinkers was higher in the OH group than in the non-OH group(29.4% or 10/34 vs.7.4% or 14/190, χ2=14.649, P<0.01). Both systolic pressure(139.0±22.1 mmHg vs.124.5±16.3 mmHg, t=-3.661, P<0.01)and diastolic pressure(77.6±6.3 mmHg vs.69.2±9.0 mmHg, t=-6.696, P<0.01)in the supine position were higher in the OH group than in the non-OH group. The proportions of patients with diabetes(47.1% or 16/34 vs.25.3% or 48/190, χ2=6.731, P<0.05)and stroke(41.2% or 14/34 vs.24.2% or 46/190, χ2=4.233, P<0.05)were higher in the OH group than in the non-OH group. The proportion of patients receiving α receptor blockers was higher in the OH group than in the non-OH group(23.5% or 8/34 vs.4.2% or 8/190, χ2=16.228, P<0.01). After adjusting for factors such as alcohol consumption, diabetes, stroke and other differences between the OH and non-OH group, logistic regression found patients with alcohol intake( OR=5.274, 95% CI: 1.990~13.982, P<0.01), diabetes( OR=2.744, 95% CI: 1.213~6.208, P<0.05)and using α receptor blockers( OR=8.812, 95% CI: 2.835~27.383, P<0.01)had a higher risk of OH. Conclusions:OH is very common in elderly patients with hypertension.Alcohol consumption, diabetes mellitus and the application of α receptor blockers can increase the risk of OH.

Tolvaptan is a novel oral selective arginine vasopressin V2 receptor antagonist.Tolvaptan improves heart failure signs and symptoms without serious adverse events.Tolvaptan has no effect on all-cause mortality and cardiovascular death or admission rate for heart failure. But in heart failure patients with hyponatremia, tolvaptan can decrease cardiovascular death and admission rate for heart failure.
