Annals of Dermatology 2004;16(2):87-89
Reactions from stinging insects are significant to dermatologists because of the wide variety of clinical presentations from mild local reaction to severe anaphylactic reaction. Although ant sting commonly occurs, it has been rarely reported in the literatures. We experienced a unique case with allergic reactions by the ant of the Cremawgaster iw6w urai vagala, subfamily Myrmicinae, family Formicidea, order Hymenoptera that has not been previously reported.

4.Two Cases of Uveal Metastasis of Lung Cancer with Systemic Metastasis.
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1999;40(7):2027-2035
Intraocular metastasis of metastatic carcinoma is relatively rare, although it is the most common malignancy affecting the eye. Choroid is the most commonly involved site, whereas iris is involved very infrequently. The most common primary tumor of the intraocular metastasis is the breast cancer in total and lung cancer in men.To our knowledge, intraocular metastasis of lung adenocarcinoma has not reported in Korea. We experienced two lung cancer patients who had developed a metastaticlesion to the iris and choroid,so we report these with the review of related literatures.

5.Relationship between Central Retinal Vein Occlusion and Axial Length of Eye.
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1999;40(7):1903-1910
Central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) is a common retinal vascular disorder, and it has been suggested to occur by the occlusion of the sclerotic central retinal vein by thrombo- sis in the lamina cribrosa. Various systemic and local conditions have been considered to be predisposing factors to the development of CRVO, and it has been reported that CRVO occurs more frequently in hypermetropic small eyes. We studied on several factors such as age, refractive error, axial length and the association with systemic diseases in 32 eyes of unilateral CRVO. In the CRVO group, the mean axial length of the affected eyes was 23.13 +/-0.99 mm in males and 22.64 +/-0.63 mm in females. That of the unaffected eyes was 23.36 +/-1.17 mm in males and 22.64 +/-0.53 mm in females, the differences were statistically insignificant in males and females (p=0.250,p=0.496). The mean axial length of normal comparison eyes was 23.81 +/-0.73 mm in males and 23.07 +/-0.69 mm in females. The differences between the mean axial lengths of both eyes with unilateral CRVO and that of normal comparison eyes were statistically significant in males and females (p<0.05). In conclusion, the short axial length may play as an important related factor in the development of CRVO.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of articular immobilization-induced hindlimb skeletal muscle atrophy on the autophosphorylation of the insulin receptor tyrosine kinase in rats. Rats were divided control, and knee and ankle joint immobilized groups. The experiments were performed on the 3rd, 7th, and 21st day after the immobilization. immobilization was induced by k-wire fixation in knee and ankle joint. The ratio of soleus muscle weight to body weight was decreased in proportion to the duration of the immobilization. The glycogen content of the soleus muscle was decreased significantly (p<0.01) at the 7th day, but this value was recovered to 65% of control at the 21st day after the immobilization. The insulin bindings at various concentrations of insulin to wheat-germ agglutinin purified insulin receptor from red gastrocnemius muscle at the 7th day after immobilization were not changed compared to control. The autophosphorylation of the insulin receptor tyrosine kinase with 10-8 and 10-7 M insulin concentration at the 7th day after immobilization was decreased compared to control. In conclusion, above results showed that insulin resistance of immobilized rat hindlimb skeletal muscle was arised from defect of autophosphorylation of the insulin receptor tyrosine kinase in part.

Korean Journal of Urology 1975;16(3):161-164
We have experienced an unusual case of hemorrhagic renal cyst in the rt. kidney at 58 years old woman. The Rt. kidney was enlarged, and showed a few subcapsular ischemic areas The color of kidney was dark brown. As the cyst at lower pole of rt. kidney was dissected, hemorrhagic fluid visualized in the cystic cavity. The final pathologic finding was renal cyst associated with malignant change and renal cell carcinoma at another renal parenchyma. Herein, hemorrhagic renal cyst, a rare clinical entity, was reported with review of literatures.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1989;30(6):1013-1019
One of the indications for epikeratophakia is monocular aphakia intolerant of spectacles and contact lens correction and unsuited for intraocular lens implantation for whatever reason. The procedure involves suturing a lamellar corneal stromal tissue of a human donor eye prelathed for corrective power onto the recipient cornea whose epithellum has just been removed. We performed the epikeratophakia procedure on two patients who were included in the above indication on May 26, 1988. Through the first 6 months of postoperative period, both the graft and recipient tissues remained clear with excellent optical quality, with corrected visual acuity of 0.4 at 1 month, 0.6 at 3 month and 0.8 at 6 month postoperative period respectively. The average increase of corneal curvature was 10.5 diopters and induced refractive error was within 1.5 spherical equivalent diopters after the 6 month period. No significant postoperative compications have been encountered.
