2.Clinical Results of Nd:Yag Laser Posterior Capsulotomy.
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1988;29(4):535-540
From Feb. 1987 to Feb. 1988, 93 cases of the Q-switched Nd : Yag laser posterior capsulotomy by using of choherent Model 7900 were carried out and 80 cases(76 patients)had been followed up for more than 2 months. The results were as follows: 1. 72 aphakic eyes and 8 pseudophakic eyes(12 traumatic cataract and 11 congenital cataract and 57 adult and senile cataract) were followed. 2. Postoperative visual acuity of 0.7 or better was achieved in 54 eyes(67.5%) and 1.0 or better in 32 eyes(40%). 3. Complications were transient increased IOP 17 eyes(21.2%) and Vitreous pro lapses with anterior hyaloid rupture 15 eyes (18.7%) and anterior uveitis 2 eyes(2.5%) and cystoid macular edema 1 eyes(1.2%) and corneal edema 1 eyes(1.2%) but most cases were without permanent damages.

3.Exfoliative Dermatitis Induced by Minocycline.
Korean Journal of Dermatology 2001;39(1):99-101
Exfoliative dermatitis is characterized by a universal or very extensive obstinate scaling and itching erythroderma. Although the clinical picture is similar in most patients, there are many etiologic factors in exfoliative dermatitis. We report a case of exfoliative dermatitis developed in a 22-year-old male patient who had been taking oral minocycline (100 mg twice daily) for 5 weeks for acne.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1988;29(4):585-590
To evaluate the efficacy and immediate complications of Q-switched Nd:YAG laser iridotomy in the treatment of angle closure glaucoma, Q-switched Nd:YAG laser iridotomy using coherent model 7900(U.S.A.)was performed on 50 eyes, 43 patients with angle closure glaucoma between Feb. 1987 and Mar. 1988. Forty-six eyes of Thirty-nine Patients had been followed up {or more than 2 months. Four eyes were lost to follow-up. Among 50 treated eyes, 46 required a single laser session for patency and four eyes required two sessions. Intraocular pressure was significantly decreased after Q-switched Nd: YAG laser iridotomy and the continuous use of previous glaucoma medications as necessary(p<0.01). Immediate postoperative intraocular pressure elevation was seen in two Nd:YAG-treated eyes. Thirty-five eyes treated with the Nd:YAG laser had minimal bleeding from the iridotomy site. Forty-four Nd:YAG-treated eyes had transient iritis.

Intercellular adhesion molecule-1(ICAM-1) is a cell-adhesion molecule that is constitutively expressed on human dermal microvascular endothelial cells and is inducible on human keratinocytes. We studied to compare the effects of Trichophyton antigen, glycerine, and recombinant IFN-gamma on the ICAM-1 expression on preimmune state keratinocytes. The 3x104 HaCaT cells/ml in 96 well microculture plates were cultured with Trichophyton antigen, glycerin, and IFN-gamma respectively. On culturing with Trichophyton antigen, ICAM-1 expression of HaCaT cells did not show significantly increased findings compared with control(P>0.05). On each group cultured with IFN-gamma and glycerin, ICAM-1 expression of HaCaT cells increased significantly compared with control(P<0.05). These results suggest that Trichophyton antigen does not sufficiently stimulate the expression of ICAM-1 of preimmune state keratinocytes without immunized T lymphocytes.

8.A Case of Penicillamine Dermatopathy.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 2001;39(3):341-343
Penicillamine dermatopathy refers to the characteristic hemorrhagic skin lesions found in persons receiving long-term penicillamine therapy for either Wilson's disease or cystinuria. These lesions are thought to develop as a result of faulty collagen and elastin synthesis. We described a 31-year-old woman with Wilson's disease who developed mild pruritic grouped matchhead-sized cream-colored papules on the dark reddish plaques on both knees and elbows.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 2001;39(9):965-971
BACKGROUND: The results of epidemiological studies are different from each other by genetics, social circumstances and cultures etc. There are few reports of statistical study about dermatoses in Korean soldiers, especially in Kangwon province. OBJECTIVE: We performed this study to know the profile of the distribution of dermatoses in Korean soldiers in Kangwon province and to compare it with results of other studies. METHODS: From Jan. 1998 to Dec. 1999, the dermatoses of new patients who visited the outpatient department of dermatology in the Chunchon Armed Forces General Hospital are recorded by rank, age and month. They are analyzed by group of disease and disease itself. RESULTS: The total number of outpatients was 2,827. The proportion of new private was 0.9%; private 22.9%; private first class 30.6%; corporal 29.7% and sergeant 15.9%. The age of patients ranges from 18 to 28 years old; 95.5% were between 20 and 23 years old. The seasonal incidence was greatest in summer, and autumn, spring and winter in the right order. The frequent dermatoses were dermatophytosis, contact dermatitis, scabies, ingrowing nail, urticaria, verruca, tinea versicolor, folliculitis, atopic dermatitis, ecthyma, acne, alopecia areata, nummular eczema, corn, cold injury, paronychia, psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, herpes zoster, pityriasis rosea, and insect bite in the right order, respectively above 1% of total number of outpatients. The frequent groups of dermatoses were eczema, diseases resulted from fungi and yeasts, disorders due to animal parasites, viral dermatoses, dermatoses due to physical agents, bacterial infections, drug eruption, erythema and urticaria, diseases of the hair, diseases of the nails, diseases of the glands, papulosquamous diseases, and pruritus and neurocutaneous dermatoses in the right order. CONCLUSION: The distinct feature of the dermatoses in soldiers of Kangwon province is the fact of high frequency in contact dermatitis, folliculitis, verruca, ingrowing nail, ecthyma, corn, cold injury, and paronychia and low frequency of acne, seborrheic dermatitis, and urticaria. The percentage of dermatoses due to physical agents is relatively high and that of drug eruption, erythema and urticaria is relatively low. The proportion of total infectious diseases is 40.4%.

10.A Case of Kaposi's Sarcoma Associated with Pancreatic Cancer.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 2003;41(6):823-826
The association of classic Kaposi's sarcoma with other neoplasm(primary or secondary) may serve as a clinical indicator for altered immunologic surveillance mechanisms. The association have been discussed for several decades. But the association of Kaposi's sarcoma with pancreatic cancer has not been reported. We report a case of Kaposi's sarcoma associated with pancreatic cancer in a 79-year-old man, who had tender papules and plaques on the left hand. The histopathologic findings showed typical features of Kaposi's sarcoma as a dermal tumor composed of vascular proliferations, vascular slits, spindle cells, extravasated erythrocytes and deposits of hemosiderin.
