Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2006;12(6):461-463
ObjectiveTo examine the relationship between ankle brachial index (ABI) and the extent of coronary stenosis and evaluate the usefulness of ABI to predict the extent of coronary stenosis in old patients.Methods118 patients with coronary angiography were examined by ABI and hemostatic factors evaluation in addition to history collection.ResultsABI was inversely and significantly associated with Gensini score. ABI reduced significantly (P<0.001) in the patients with 3-vessel or left main coronary artery disease (CAD). But there were no significant differences in ABI among the patients with no CAD, 1-vessel or 2-vessel CAD. The corresponding area under the ROC curve was 0.75±0.045, with 95% CI=0.67~0.84 (P<0.001) in ABI in 3-vessel or left main CAD. When ABI≤0.9, it had a relatively high specificity (89.1%) and sensitivity (55.6%) for predicting the presence of 3-vessel disease or left main CAD.ConclusionIn the old patients, ABI is inversely and significantly associated with the extent of coronary stenosis, and ABI≤0.9 has a relatively high specificity and sensitivity for predicting the presence of 3-vessel or left main CAD.

Journal of Zhejiang University. Science. B 2005;6(5):319-323
Synergetic effects for p-nitrophenol degradation were observed in the ozonation with ultrasonic enhancement. The enhancements of removal rate for p-nitrophenol and TOC were around 116% and 294% respectively in comparison with the individual ultrasound and ozonation systems. The synergetic phenomenon is attributed to two physicochemical mechanisms: (1) Ultrasound decomposes ozone causing augmentation of the activity of free radicals; (2) Ultrasonic wave increased the concentration of O(3) in solution because of ultrasonic dispersion.

5.Effect of compound paeonol dripping pill on levels of plasma inflammatory mediators in patients with unstable angina.
Chinese Journal of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine 2008;28(5):395-398
OBJECTIVETo evaluate the clinical therapeutic effect of Compound Paeonol Dripping Pill (CPDP) and its effect on the levels of plasma inflammatory mediators, including C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) and monocyte chemotactic protein-1 (MCP-1).
METHODSNinety patients with unstable angina were randomized by enveloping method into 3 groups equally, the conventional Western therapy group (A), the CPDP group (B), and the Tongxinluo group (C). The improvement of angina pectoris symptoms and electrocardiogram (ECG) was observed after 2 weeks of treatment and the levels of plasma CRP, IL-6, TNF-alpha and MCP-1 were measured before and after treatment.
RESULTSThe total effective rate in improving angina pectoris was 93.3% in Group B, significantly higher than that in Group A (73.3%, P <0.01) and Group C (76.7%, P <0.05), while no significant difference of ECG improvement rate was found between the three groups (P >0.05). Plasma total cholesterol and inflammation indexes were significantly lowered after treatment in Group B (P <0.05), showing a significant difference to those in the other two groups (P <0.05), but the indexes were unchanged in the other two groups (P >0.05).
CONCLUSIONEffect of CPDP is better in relieving symptoms, depressing inflammatory reaction for treatment of unstable angina patients than that of Tonxinluo Capsule and conventional Western treatment.

Chinese Medical Journal 2009;122(18):2103-2106
BACKGROUNDBrachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) is a reliable method for measuring arterial elasticity, but the absence of reference value for baPWV has limited its wide use. We conducted an epidemical study in north China to investigate the reference value of baPWV for Chinese people and its influential factors.
METHODSA total of 974 identified healthy subjects were recruited in this study. The values of baPWV were evaluated noninvasively with an automatic device.
RESULTSFor healthy population, the mean value of baPWV was higher for male (P < 0.001). Multiple regression analysis demonstrated that both age and systolic blood pressure were positively associated with baPWV for male and female (P < 0.001). BaPWV value was higher in male than in female in younger group (< 50 years) but not in older group (P CONCLUSIONSAging is the most important reason of arterial stiffness, but the effect of age on baPWV augmentation is greater for healthy female than their male counterpart. The reference values of baPWV by sex and age are very useful for clinical and preventive medicine.

Chinese Journal of Cardiology 2011;39(7):625-627
OBJECTIVETo compare the efficacy and safety between cryoablation (Cryo) and radiofrequency (RF) ablation for treating patients with atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT).
METHODSPatients with AVNRT (n = 304) were divided into Cryo group (n = 67) and RF group (n = 237). The procedure success rate, complete slow pathway block rate, atrioventricular block rate and relapse rate were compared between two groups.
RESULTSThere was no statistically difference between 2 groups in the success rate (Cryo group 98.5% vs RF group 97.0%, P = 0.820), complete slow pathway block rate (Cryo group 98.5% vs RF group 91.6%, P = 0.088), atrioventricular block rate (Cryo group 0 vs RF group 2.5%, P = 0.413), relapse rate (Cryo group 0 vs RF group 1.7%, P = 0.643). But Cryo group had more advantage than RF group.
CONCLUSIONEfficacy and safety were comparable between cryoablation and radiofrequency ablation for treating patients with AVNRT.

Journal of Zhejiang University. Science. B 2005;6(6):553-558
Study on the effects of sonolysis, ozonolysis and US/O3 system on the decomposition of p-chlorophenol in aqueous solutions indicated that in the cases of US/O3 system, individual ozonolysis and sonolysis, the decomposition rate of p-chlorophenol reached 78.78%, 56.20%, 2.79% after a 16-min reaction while its CODcr (chemical oxygen demand) removal rate was 97.02%, 62.17%, 3.67% after a 120-min reaction. The decomposition reaction of p-chlorophenol follows pseudo-first-order kinetics. The enhancement factors of p-chlorophenol and its COD(cr) under US/O3 system reached 63% and 237% respectively. The main intermediates during the decomposition include catechol, hydroquinone, p-benzoquinone, phenol, fumaric acid, maleic acid, oxalic acid and formic acid. The decomposition mechanism of p-chlorophenol was also discussed.

Chinese Medical Journal 2007;120(18):1583-1586
BACKGROUNDThe peripheral enhancement of small hepatocellular carcinoma (SHCC) is a rare appearance in dual phase images by helical computed tomography (CT). This study discusses this phenomenon and its correlative histopathology.
METHODSThe helical CT dual phase appearance of peripheral enhancement in SHCC was analyzed in 21 cases (22 lesions). All lesions were confirmed as SHCC by histopathological examination.
RESULTSIn these 22 lesions, enhanced peripheral ring in 20 lesions was incomplete, the thickness of enhanced peripheral ring varied and mural node could be found in hepatic arterial phase; only 2 lesions had complete peripheral ring enhancement and ring of uniform thickness in hepatic arterial phase. The enhancement of some peripheral rings and mural nodes dropped to very low density in portal venous phase. The tumour cells were grade I in 3 lesions, II in 16, III in 2 and IV in 1. The vascular supply was more abundant at the border than in the centre of 15 lesions and the vascular supply was deficient in both centre and border of the remaining 7 lesions. In 3 lesions, the pseudocapsule showed in the border of the lesion. In 12 lesions, flecks of necrosis were found in the border and/or centre of the lesion.
CONCLUSIONSThe characteristic peripheral enhancement in helical CT dual phase images of small hepatocellular carcinoma correlates with different vascular supplies, fibrous capsule and necrosis of the lesion.
