Objective To investigate the CT features of primary hepatic neuroendocrine carcinoma (PHNEC).Methods The CT findings of 8 patients with PHNEC which was confirmed by surgery and histopathology were analyzed retrospectively.Tumor location, size, shape, margin, density, enhancement patterns and degree, portal vein tumor thrombus, hilar and retroperitoneal lymph node enlargement were studied retrospectively. Results Of 8 patients, there were 5 tumors which were located in the right liver,1 in the left liver, and the remaining 2 in both the left and right livers. The CT value of the mass on plain scanning ranged from 20 to 35 HU.The mean value of CT was (29.6 ± 8.4) HU.Tumors showed low density in 5 patients and slightly lower density in 3.In 5 tumors the boundary was clear and in 3 it was not clear.Uneven mass density and different sizes of necrotic cysts were found in 8 tumors. In one of these tumors, the inside showed honey-comb appearance while small areas of haemorrhage were found in the tumor of another 2 patients. For all the eight patients, there were dilatation of peripheral bile ducts, portal vein tumor thrombus, enlarged lymph nodes or peritoneal effusion in hepatic portal area and peritoneal cavity. In the arterial phase, there was mild to moderate enhancement of the mass with CT value of 38 ~ 65 HU.The average value of CT was (54.8 ± 6.9) HU.In the venous phase, there was mild to moderate continuous enhancement of liver parenchyma, with CT value of 40 ~67 HU.The average value of CT was (61.4 ± 11.6) HU.In the delay phase,a substantial part of the mass was continuously enhanced in 2 patients while there was slow fading of enhancement in 6 patients. The CT value were 36 ~ 57 HU,the average value of CT was (46.6 ± 9.2) HU.In 3 patients, the separations inside the tumor showed enhancement. Conclusion CT features combined with clinical findings might give a hint to the diagnosis of primary neuroendocrine carcinoma of liver.

The 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase (HMGR) catalyzes the conversion of HMG-CoA to mevalonate in mavalonic acid pathway, which is the first committed step for isoprenoid biosynthesis in plants. However, it still remains unclear whether HGMR gene plays a role in the isoprenoid biosynthesis in Dendrobium officinale, an endangered epiphytic orchid species. In the present study, a HMGR encoding gene, designed as DoHMGR1 (GenBank accession JX272632), was identified from D. officinale using the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE) methods, for the first time. The full length cDNA of DoHMGR1 was 2 071 bp in length and encoded a 562-aa protein with a molecular weight of 59.73 kD and an isoelectric point (pI) of 6.18. The deduced DoHMGR1 protein, like other HMGR proteins, constituted four conserved domains (63-561, 147-551, 268-383 and 124-541) and two transmembrane motifs (42-64 and 85-107). Multiple sequence alignment and phylogenetic analyses demonstrated that DoHMGR1 had high identity (67%-89%) to a number of HMGR genes from various plants and was closely related to Vanda hybrid cultivar, rice and maize monocots. Real time quantitative PCR (qPCR) analysis revealed that DoHMGR1 was expressed in the three included organs. The transcripts were the most abundant in the roots with 2.13 fold over that in the leaves, followed by that in the stems with 1.98 fold. Molecular characterization of DoHMGR1 will be useful for further functional elucidation of the gene involving in isoprenoid biosynthesis pathway in D. officinale.

To investigate the genetic diversity among wild Dipsacus asperoides in China, 66 germplasmic resources of D. asperoides were analyzed by Start Codon Targeted Polymorphism (SCoT) molecular markers. Genetic distance was calculated by TREECONW software and the systematic diagram of genetic relationship was clustered by UPGMA method. The results showed that the totals of 181 bands were detected using 20 primers , among which 109 were polymorphic bands. The average percentage of polymorphic bands was 60.13%. Genetic distance changed from 0.030 6 to 0.181 4. The clustering results showed that there was no significant correlation between the classification of the wild D. asperoides and their geographical origin. The relatively high genetic diversity of D. asperoides provides the basis for breeding new varieties.

Objective To determine the changes of interleukin-12(IL-12) and IL-12 mRNA in gastric mucosa of children with helicobacer pylori (Hp) infection, and to study the effects of Hp infection on the expression levels of IL-12 and IL-12 mRNA,and to evaluate its possible roles in the pathogenesis of gastric mucosal inflammation in Hp related gastroduodenal diseases. Methods Biopsy specimens were taken from the antral mucosa on endoscopy in patients with or without Hp infection, which were diagnosed by urease test and Giemsa staining. The expression levels of IL-12 and IL-12 mRNA in gastric mucosa were determined by ELISA and RT-PCR.Results Inflammation of gastric antral mucosa was more severe in Hp-positive mucosa .The expression levels of IL-12 and IL-12 mRNA in Hp-positive mucosa were (66.42?15.15) ng/g and (59.21?15.03)%,which were more than those in (Hp-negative )(22.22?8.79) ng/g and (17.94?7.39)%(P
8.Synthesis and biological properties of strontium-substituted hydroxyapatite
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2018;22(6):938-944
BACKGROUND:Hydroxyapatite is the main mineral component of bone and teeth. It is non-immunogenic and osteoinductive and suitable for bone repair.Strontium and calcium are cognate elements in the periodic table of elements and it has been proved that strontium has dual effects, namely, osteogenic promotion and suppression of osteoclast activity.OBJECTIVE:To summarize the preparation of strontium-substituted hydroxyapatite and its biological properties.METHODS:The first author searched the PubMed database for related literature from 1990 to 2017.The key words were "strontium;substituted;doped;containing;hydroxyapatite".The literatures obtained were screened, and the irrelevant and repetitive literatures were excluded.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The preparation methods of strontium-substituted hydroxyapatite include liquid-phase method (hydrothermal method,acid-base neutralization and sol-gel method) and solid-phase method (mechanochemical method). In addition,strontium-substituted hydroxyapatite coating can be produced by electrochemical deposition and micro-arc oxidation. The introduction of strontium significantly modifies the crystal size, crystallinity, solubility and mechanical properties, and improves the biocompatibility,pro-osteogenesis and osteoclast inhibition of hydroxyapatite, but the optimal proportion of strontium needs to be further explored.Furthermore, the immune-regulation and osteogenic properties under pathological conditions of strontium-substituted hydroxyapatite need to be further improved.

Journal of Forensic Medicine 2014;30(6):463-465
OBJECTIVE:
To develop the accelerated solvent extraction (ASE) for determining pesticides present in blood samples.
METHODS:
Pesticides were extracted by ASE with optimized parameters to study recovery rate affected by extraction temperature, time and agent. GC/MS was used to perform quantitative analysis.
RESULTS:
The recovery rates of eight pesticides were 70.6%-92.4%. The coefficient of variation was less than 5.0%. A good linear relationship was obtained at the concentration range of 0.5-5.0 microg/mL.
CONCLUSION
The method was fast and simple with high recovery rate and good repeatability. It can be applied to analyze pesticides present in the blood specimen.
