Objective:To discuss the significance of standardized treatment for cancer pain, according to the Cancer Pain Treat-ment Specification (2011 Edition) issued by the Ministry of Health, PR China. Methods:Clinical data of 126 patients with cancer pain, who were admitted to the Department of Medical Oncology, The Fourth Hospital of Hebei Medical University, were collected to com-pare the improvement of the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) score, number of breakthrough pain, and quality of life score after treatment. The relationships between different pain grades, disease entities, and treatment effect were analyzed. The influence factors of pain relief were also analyzed by using Logistic regression analysis. Results:1). Following standardized treatment, the improvement rate of NRS score has shown significant differences in pain grading (P=0.001) and gender (P=0.000). However, no significant differences were ob-served between different diseases (P=0.112). The improvement rate of the life quality score and the number of breakthrough pain had no significant difference after standardized treatment. 2). The grading of cancer pain and the disease entities had little effect on cancer pain relief. 3). The anti-tumor treatment and“no distant metastasis”were the independent factors that brought about the decrease in NRS and quality of life scores.“No distant metastasis”(P=0.046) was the independent factor that reduced the number of pain out-breaks. Conclusion: The standardized treatment positively affects the NRS score, number of breakthrough pain, and quality of life score. Patients who received anti-neoplastic therapy and who had no distant metastasis showed significant treatment effectiveness in pain management.

A novel biosensor for aflatoxin B1 detecting has been reported. The biosensor electrode for AFB1 detecting was assembled by immobilized aflatoxin-oxidoreductase using open-ended multi-walled carbon nanotubes as matrix. Its linear range was between 0.16?M and 3.2?M. And if the specific anti-aflatoxin B1 antibody and aflatoxin oxidoreductase were both immobilized on the electrode with Multi-Walled carbon nanotubes, the detection limit of the modified electrode could be 16 nM with a 10 times improved sensitivity. The aflatoxin enzyme biosensor assembled this way strode one step forward its practical application.

Objective To investigate and compare the action of curcuminoids on the causal pathogens of Candida albicans growth. Methods The effects of curcumin (CUR) and demethoxycurcumin (DMC) on C.albicans growth were first investigated and compared by microcalorimetry coupled with multiple analytical methods. The quantitative thermo-kinetic parameters obtained from these curves were analyzed to show difference of the actions. Results By analyzing the main parameters screened from principal component analysis together with 50% inhibiting concentration values,it was demonstrated that both CUR and DMC showed good antifungal activities and CUR was stronger. It was further concluded from structure-activity relationship that the existence of methoxy group might enhance lipophilicity of the mother nucleus, which made it easier for the molecular to enter into the cell membrane of fungi to inhibit its growth. Conclusion This study provides a new method for screening new antifungal agents with high efficacy and low toxicity.Meanwhile,it contributes to the application of curcuminoids as food additive, colorant, and drug.Microcalorimetry is real-time,online,and dynamic, and it could be used to characterize the subtle difference among the effects of synthetic and natural products on the vital process of fungi.

Objective To investigate the usage of fluorine-proof iron stove in regions with coal-burning borne endemic fluorosis of Guizhou province and to provide scientific basis for the project management. Methods According to "the local prevention programs against coal-burning borne endemic fluorosis-Guizhou iron stove usage survey scheme", in the 18 counties implemented the project of improving the iron stove from 2005 to 2008, 2 townships were selected randomly in each county of each project annually, 2 villages were selected in each township randomly, and 10 households were checked in each village. The project households were investigated using questionnaire of the related health knowledge and awareness as well as the satisfaction of the households. Results ①The improvement rate of iron stove was 100.00%(1286/1286). ②The overall utilization rate of the improved stove was 94.09% (1210/1286), in which winter was 62.21% (800/1286) and annual was 31.88%(410/1286). ③Among the households that did not use the project stove, 46.05%(35/76) households was due to switch to other clean energy, in addition, 19.74%(15/76) was due to sell or send to other households, and 14.47%(11/76) was still used to use the open kitchen without the ventilating pipe, and still 13.16%(10/76) was due to high coal prices, and 6.58%(5/76) was due to that the improved stove can not meet the needs of life and no longer used. ④Amoag 1261 households investigated, households with damaged furnace was 24.58%(310/1261 ), and the parts damaged were mainly chimney (ventilating pipe) and the furnace core, accounting for 51.94%(161/310) and 29.03%(90/310), respectively. Repair rate of the damaged parts was 32.58%(101/310). ⑤The health knowledge rate was about 82.74% (1064/1286), and the satisfaction of the iron furnace was 88.65% (1140/1286).Conclusions The improved stoves for the prevention of endemic fluorosis in the diseased area meet the people's living habits, and meet their basic livelihood needs. Most project households are still using the improved furnace. But we still need to further strengthen the project management and the health education intervention, establish and improve stove maintenance network, and reach the goal of sustainable control of coal-burning borne endemic fluorosis.
