OBJECTIVETo search for a simple and effective surgical approach to the management of moderate to severe pediatric concealed penis in children.

METHODSWe used Devine's technique via incision between the penis and scrotum in the treatment of 68 cases of moderate to severe pediatric concealed penis. The patients were aged 3 -13 (mean 6.5) years, 30 with moderate and 38 with severe pediatric concealed penis.

RESULTSThis strategy achieved good near- and long-term effects and satisfactory appearance of the penis, which was similar to that of circumcision. At 3 months after surgery, the penile length was 3 - 5.2 cm, averaging (2.35 +/- 0.35) cm.

CONCLUSIONDevine's technique via incision between the penis and scrotum is a simple and effective surgical option for moderate to severe pediatric concealed penis in children.

Objective To analyze and summarize the features of children's facial wound and to share the emergency treatment experiences.Methods An retrospective study was conducted on the pathogenesis,age distribution,emergency treatment methods and complications in 1407 children (under 15 years of age) during recent 8 years (from January 2004 to December 2011).Results In this study the major facial wound type was simply lacerations (1196/1407,85.0 ％),and the most common wound cause was trumbling injury (1154/1407,82.0 ％).The T area was the easiest injured,successively,forehead (562/1407,39.9％),chin (211/1407,15.0％),lips (196/1407,13.9％) and nose (95/1407,6.8％).Here were 2 peaks in age distribution which were 2 and 5 years of age,respectively.Pleased outcome would be found while normalized plastic means were taken.After 3 to 6 months following up,there were 5 infection cases,27 cases healed with hypertrophic scars,and 7 cases with traumatic tattoos in wound location.Conclusions The most common wound type is simply laceration.2 and 5 years of age are two of the highest risk stages.It is necessary to act up to plastic surgery principles and take children's particularity into account when emergency treatment,and to do our best to minimize the scar in the first operation time.

During oral glucose tolerance test(OGTT),endothelium-dependent vasodilation(EDD)at different time points in impaired glucose tolerance(IGT)group was lower than that in normal control group.EDD at 60 and 120 min in IGT + vitamin C group was higher than that in IGT group(all P＜0.05).There was a negative relationship between blood glucose level and EDD during OGTT in IGT patients.

Objective To investigate the correlation between ~(18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) uptake and hypoxia inducible factor1α (HIF-1α) level,microvessel density (MVD) in human gliomas.Methods ~(18)F-FDG PET scan was performed preoperatively in 41 patients with gliomas (including 23 highgrade and 18 low-grade tumors).The ratios of maximum standardized uptake value(SUV_(max))between tumor (T)and contralateral white matter (WM) were calculated (T/WM).Immunohistochemical stain methods were used to evaluate the level of HIF-1α and measure the MVD in tumors.Correlation analysis between SUV_(max) of T/WM and HIF-1α level,MVD wag performed.The t-test,one-way ANOVA test,Spearman rank correlation and Wilcoxon signed-rank test were calculated using SPSS 11.5 software.Results (1)The SUV_(max) of T/WM,HIF-1α level and MVD in high-grade and low-grade tumors groups were 3.39±1.43,95.7% and 44.13±16.1 vs 1.46±0.55.55.6% and 18.83±7.07,respectively.The difierences of SUV_(max) of T/WM,HIF-1α level and MVD between two groups were statistically significant (t=-5.921,z=-3.938,t=-6.745,all P＜0.05).(2)Among 41 gliomas,the strong positive expression of HIF-1α was observed in 8,mederate in 9,weak in 15 and negative expression was found in 9,SUV_(max) of T/WM and MVD increased with increasing HIF-1α level.The differences of SUV_(max) of T/WM and MVD among 4 different groups were statistically significant (F=7.41,P＜0.05).(3) The MVD of all gliomas was ranged from 9.76 to 94.52,which correlated with SUV_(max) of T/WM(r=0.759,P＜0.05).Conclusions The SUV_(max) of T/WM correlates with HIF-1α level and MVD in gliomas.Therefore,~(18)F-FDG PET provides preoperatively a noninvasive assessment of hypoxia or angiogenesis in human glionma.

Objective To investigate the protective effects of Ulinastatin (UTI) and 1, 6 fructose diphosphate (FDP) on cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury, and to discuss the protective mechanisms of UT1 and FDP on cerebral ischemia-repeffusion injury. Method Rabbit ischemia-repeffusion injury models were prepared by"four arteries occlusion". All rabbits were divided into four groups (n=6): control group, UTI (10 U/kg) group, FDP (200 mg/kg) group, UTI+ FDP group. Salt water, UTI, FDP and UTI + FDP were respectively used immediately after ischemia-reperfusion. Plasmic MDA and GSH-Px were measured at 30 minutes, 1 hour, 3 hours and 6 hours after reperfusion. Armillariella tabescens EJLY2098 was induced to produce ?-mannanase with konjac fine flour (Amorphopallus rivieri) as single carbon source. This induced enzyme was then purified using DEAE ion exchange chromatography and named atMAN47. Zymologic analysis showed that the molecular weight of this ?-mannanase was approximately 47 kD. The enzyme was stable when pH ranged from 5.0 to 6.5 and could be activated by Na+ and Ba2+. With an optimal temperature of 50?C. Action mode analysis of TLC revealed that the enzyme belonged to the endo-?-mannanase family. Being a meta-acid endo-?-mannanase, it was suitable to be applied to feed industry with a promising future as an enzyme preparation.

Objective To search for a good solution for aesthetic beard reconstruction and to explore the effect of the single-hair grafting in beard reconstruction. Methods Under the local anesthesia, a scalp strip (length range from 5～7 cm, width range from 1.0～1.5 cm) was harvested from the back of the head and then was divided into a series of single-hair micrografts. After the slits were made, the grafts were implanted into the holes, parallel to the original beard directions. The donor sites were directly closed. With this method, 18 sparse beard patients and 3 patients with upper lip scars were treated. Results The grafted hairs grew nearly in the direction of normal beard, which achieved 90 %～95 % survival in recipient areas. The patients were satisfied with the results, in which 19 cases received only 1 operation and 2 cases received another repeated operation. Conclusion Beard reconstruction by single-hair grafting technique is a good, safe and effective method.
