1.Surgical treatment for osteoarthritis secondary to Crowe type IV developmental dysplasia of hip in adults.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the mothod and therapeutic efficacy of total hip anthroplasties (THA) for osteoarthritis secondary to Crowe type IV developmental dysplasia of hip in adults.
METHODSFrom May 2006 to December 2013, THA was performed on 15 adult patients (17 hips) with Growe type IV acetabular dysplasia, including 13 females and 2 males, with a mean age of 30.9 years old (22 to 58 years old) and an average preoperative Harris score of (34.0 ± 6.5) points. Traction of the affected limb was not performed before surgery. After extensive release and lengthening of soft tissues, sub-trochanteric osteotomy of the femur was performed, hip joint center was rebuilt and the abduction function was restored.
RESULTSThe patients were followed up with a mean period of 33 months (ranged from 6 months to 5 years). The postoperative Harris score was 85.0 ± 7.3,higher than the preoperative score. The extended length of limb ranged from 1.6 to 5.4 cm, with a mean of (3.42 ± 0.65) cm. The shortening and malformation of the affected limb were corrected in the most patients,with the difference in length of the two legs less than 1.5 cm. After surgery, 1 patient experienced partial sciatic nerve injury, which was largely recovered after 3 months of conservative treatment. One patient experienced complete sciatic nerve injury, which was partially recovered after 6 months of conservative treatment; a foot-drop varus deformity was formed in the distal end of the affected limb, which was improved after tendon transposition and transplantation. Joint pain was relieved, and the joint function was restored significantly. Over the follow-up period, no severe complications such as dislocation, infection, prosthesis loosening, or subsiding occurred.
CONCLUSIONSatisfactory efficacy can be achieved for adult Growe type IV acetabular dysplasia associated with osteoarthritis by THA, with proper soft tissue release and lengthening, sub-trochanteric osteotomy of femur, joint functional restoration, appropriate choice of prosthesis, and careful protection of nerves and vessels.

4.Effect on quality of Scrophulariae Radix with modern drying technology.

Modern drying technology was used to explore suitable drying process to provide scientific basis for improving drying processing methods of Scrophulariae Radix. Controlled temperature and humidity drying, vacuum drying apparatus, microwave vacuum drying apparatus, short infrared drying device were used to gain samples for analyzing. The character appearance, concentration of main components and power consumption indicators were chosen for preliminary judging. Six major components, including iridoids and phenylpropanoids were analyzed by UPLC-MS/MS method. The contents of polysaccharides were determined by UV-visible spectrophotometry. The character appearance with controlled temperature and humidity drying and short infrared drying meet the pharmacopoeia standard (Ch. p, edition 2015), while samples with vacuum and microwave vacuum drying apparatus didn't. Compared to fresh sample, concentrations of harpagide, harpagoside, aucubin and catalpol were lower in the dried samples. Angoroside-C showed no significant change before and after drying. Concentration of acteoside increased after drying. Samples with controlled temperature (70 degrees C) and humidity (15% - 10%) drying had high content and short drying time. The better drying process of Scrophulariae Radix was controlled temperature and humidity drying. The method will provide the reference for the drying technology standard of roots medicine.

5.Intravascular ultrasonic evaluation of poststenting atherosclerotic plaque redistribution and lumen reduction at the stent edge:does stent length matter?

Objective To evaluate the association between poststenting atherosclerotic plaque redistribution/lumen reduction at the stent edge and stent length.Methods Seventy stents were implanted to 47 patients with stable or unstable angina and 33 stents were≤18 mm and 37 stents were>18 mm.Intravascular ultrasound analysis was performed on proximal stent edge,stent area and distal stent edge.Lumen area (LA) and vascular area (VA) were measured and lumen volume (Lv) and vascular volume (VV) were calculated on the three segments.Vascular wall volume (WV) was calculated as VV-LV.volume of plaque redistribution=peststenting WV-prestenting WV.Results Compared to prestenting,poststenting LV significantly decreased,VV remained unchanged and WV significantly increased at proximal and distal edges of≤18 mm group and at proximal edge of>18 mm group.suggesting reduced lumen due to plaque distribution. At distal edge of>18 mm group,poststenting LV,VV and WV all equally significantly increased therefore the lumen Was not affected by plaque distribution.Conclusion The poststenting lumen changes due to plaque redistribution were associated with stent length,lumen reduced at proximal and distal edge of short stents and proximal edge of long stents but not at the distal edge of long stents.
6.Protective effect of tanshinone ⅡA on undulatory high glucose injuried human umbilical vein endothelial cell

Objective To observe the influences of tanshinone ⅡA on undulatory high glucose injuried human umbilical vein endothelial cells ( HUVEC ) activity, malondialdehyde ( MDA ) , superoxide dismutase (SOD), nitric oxide (NO), nitric oxide synthase (NOS) and Rho/Rho kinase Ⅰ( ROCKⅠ) mRNA and to explore its mechanism.Methods HUVEC was divided into six groups , normal control group was given 5.50 mmol· L-1 glucose 200 μL for 48 h.Injury group was given 5.50, 20.00 mmol· L-1 glucose 200μL for 48 h.Low, medium and high dose groups were based on the treatment of injury group , and taken keep 10.00 , 30.00 , 50.00 μg· mL-1 tanshinone ⅡA 200 μL for 48 h, re-spectively.Positive control group was based on the treatment of injury group , and given 100.00 mg· L-1 vitamin C 200μL for 48 h.The level of MDA, SOD, NO, NOS and ROCKⅠ mRNA were compared between six groups.Results The amount of SOD , NO and NOS in the normal control group , positive control group , low, medium and high dose groups were significantly higher than that of injury group, the amount of MDA and ROCKⅠ mRNA content were significantly less than that of injury group , statistically significant ( P<0.05 ) except low dose group , of which high dose group was more obvious ( P<0.05 ).Conclusion Tanshinone ⅡA has a protective effect on the HUVEC injury induced by a undulatory high sugar in vitro of volatility , which can increase the level of SOD , NO and NOS, and decrease the content of MDA and ROCKⅠ mRNA.So the mechanism may be related to remove active oxygen , reduce lipid peroxidation , enhance the vitality of endothelial cell antioxidant enzyme system , and through the Rho/Rho kinase system to refrain NOS expression , which can affect NO se-cretion and so on.
7.Experimental study of angiography using vascular interventional robot.

OBJECTIVETo assess the feasibility and safety of vascular interventional surgery by using vascular interventional robot system (VIRS).
METHODSVIRS included image navigation systems and body propulsion systems, and adopted a master-slave structure. The surgeon sat at the master site, sending controlling instructions to the robot fixed at the slave site, and then the robot translated these instructions into catheter motion. A 3D vascular model was reconstructed so that the surgeon can perform surgical planning easily. In glass model and animal experiments, the surgeon remotely controlled VIRS, which inserted a catheter into predefined targets, and the catheter positioning error and robotic surgery time were measured.
RESULTSThe robot was initially tested on a glass vascular model. Under robotic manipulation, the catheter could enter an arbitrary branch of the vascular model. The catheter positioning error was less than 1 mm. Then robotic interventional surgery was performed successfully in ten adult dogs. The renal artery and the vertebral artery angiography carried out smoothly without complication. Experiment took 35 minutes, and the time what staff exposed to the digital subtraction angiography (DSA) machine was 0 minute.
CONCLUSIONVascular interventional surgical robot system is safe and feasible, and can achieve the catheter remote operation, meet the requirements of angiography basically.

8.Influence of rhG-CSF on activity of sphingosine kinase in monocytes.

The aim of this research was to understand the influence of rhG-CSF on the sphingosine kinase (SphK) activity of monocytes. The peripheral blood monocytes were collected from 6 peripheral blood progenitor cell donors on the fifth day of mobilization with rhG-CSF and from 5 blood donors' buffy coats. The mRNA expressions of monocyte G-CSF receptor and SphK were tested with RT-PCR. The changes of SphK activity of monocytes were assayed after being treated with rhG-CSF. The results showed that the two kinds monocytes collected from both blood donors and peripheral blood progenitor cell donors mobilized with rhG-CSF expressed mRNA of G-CSF receptor and SphK. The SphK activity of monocytes collected from blood donors was not changed significantly after being treated with rhG-CSF (P > 0.05). The SphK activity of monocytes collected from peripheral blood progenitor cell donors transiently increased by (39.6 - 87.2)% after being treated by means of rhG-CSF (P < 0.05) without obviously dose-dependent effect. It is concluded that the SphK activity of monocytes collected from peripheral blood progenitor cell donors can be activated by rhG-CSF.

9.Effects of Ilizarov technique on the histopathological changes of articular cartilage.

OBJECTIVETo study the effects of pressure changes on the experimental articular cartilage by utilizing Ilizarov distraction technique.
METHODSThe Ilizarov external fixators were fixed at the left ankle joints of 18 experimental dogs, and the fixators were stretched with a speed of 1 mm/d to create a varus deformity. After three weeks, the ankle varus was 15 degree; when the degree was confirmed by X-ray film, the same traction was retained for 3 weeks. Then the traction decreased at the same speed of 1 mm/d to correct the deformity for 3 weeks. At the 3rd, 7th and 9th weeks, articular cartilages were separated from medial foot of the experimental and normal side to do morphology observation after HE stain, which were group A, group B, group C and group D respectively separately. The gray scale values were obtained using Image-Pro Plus 6.0 software and compared among the 4 groups using SPSS 13.0. The microstructure of cartilage was observed through transmission electron microscopy.
RESULTS(1) The Mankin scores: there was significant difference between group A and group B (P=0.043<0.05); and significant difference between group B and group C (P=0.038<0.05). (2) The values of gray scale: there was significant difference between group A and group B (P=0.047<0.05); significant difference between group B and group C (P=0.045<0.05); significant difference between group A and group D (P=0.039<0.05); no significant difference between group C and group D (P=1.23>0.05).
CONCLUSIONUsing Ilizarov technique, when the pressure between the cartilage surface of the ankle joint increases, the necrosis of articular cartilage occurred; and when the stress between the articular cartilage surface decreases, the damaged articular cartilage can be restored.

10.Effect of climate change on genuine medicinal materials producing areas during last 2 000 years--Alisma orientale and Citrus aurtantium as examples.

Climate in China has fluctuated greatly for last two thousand years. Also, the temperate-subtropical transition zone, as well as the distribution boundaries of subtropical biology and growth of suitable areas appear north-south lapse. In historical period, significant climate change will also be bound to the changes of the medicinal organism distribution suitable areas. The past dynasties herbal herbs have documented origin in detail, especially genuine medicinal materials producing areas. In this paper, Alisma orientale and Citrus aurtantium as examples, were used to elaborate the impact of climate change fluctuations on genuine producing area by evolution and change of genuine producing areas. The results showed that medicinal species were more sensitive to climate change such as A. orientale and C. aurtantium, its main producing areas or genuine producing area from north to south shifted in the Ming and Qing dynasties, consistent with the characteristics of climate change in China in last two thousand years. Factors prompted producing areas southward are not only low temperature and cold damage, and temperature and humidity have often synergistic effect. The human activities are more likely to exacerbate the impact.
