AIMTo study upon to serum deprivation if delta-opioid receptor activation has direct effect on cultured impaired cardiomyocytes survival.

METHODSMyocardial cells of neonatal rats were cultured in vitro. The cell viability was determined with crystal violet staining uptake. The percentage of S + G2 + M in cell cycle was determined by flow cytometry. Apoptosis rates were determined by flow cytometry (FCM). The expression of Caspase-3 were investigated by Western blotting.

RESULTSMyocardial cells of neonatal rats were cultured of serum-free in vitro, apoptotic index was significantly increased, the expression of Caspase-3 was significantly increased, free-serum induced apoptosis in cardiac myocytes after 48 h. At concentrations of 10 nmol x L(-1) - 10 micromol x L(-1), a delta opoid receptor agonist [D-Ala2, D-Leu5]-enkephalin DADLE promoted the myocardial cells survival, in a concentration-dependent manner. The optimal response was achieved at 0.1 micromol x L(-1), which increase survival index of cardiac myocyte, percentage of S + G2 + M in cell cycle, decrease apoptotic index of cardiac myocyte, and the expression activate caspase-3. Delta-opioid receptor antagonist naltrindole at 10 micromol x L(-1) inhibited the promoting effects of DADLE, which decrease survival index of cardiac myocyte, and percentage of S + G2 + M in cell cycle, increase apoptotic index of cardiac myocyte and the expression of Caspase-3.

CONCLUSIONThe protective of delta-opioid receptor activation can promote survival in cultured impaired myocardial cells.

AIMTo investigate the change of NMDAR1 (zeta 1) subunit expression in temple cortex, frontal lobe, hippocampus and cerebellum of three different group rat after 98 dB wide frequency noise exposure.

METHODSWestern Blot and RT-PCR technique, combined with auditory brainstem response (ABR) measurement.

RESULTS(1) Expressions of NMDAR1 (zeta 1) subunit in frontal cortex, temple cortex, hippocampus and cerebellum have no difference, but AD model rat is much weaker than the control group. (2) Expression of NMDAR2A (epsilon 1) in temple cortex for physiological saline groups rat have a mostly increase (plus noise), moreover, those are weakest expression in hippocampus. NMDAR1 (zeta 1) subunit in cerebellum have highest expression, moreover, it is weakest in temple cortex. (3) NMDAR1 (zeta1), NMDAR2A (epsilon 1) subunit expression in hippocampus for three groups rat have a down-regulation after adding noise. (4) NMDAR1 (zeta 1), NMDAR2A (epsilon 1) subunit mRNA expression in control group have no remarkable difference in different cortex. (5) Expressions of NMDAR2A (epsilon 1) in frontal temple cortex, hippocampus for AD model rat are less than that of other groups, weakest in cerebellum, weaker in frontal.

CONCLUSIONWide band frequency noise can reduce the expression of NMDAR1 (zeta 1) subunit in hippocampus and cerebellum of AD model rat, however, the way of regulation is not in the mRNA level. Wide band frequency noise can inhibit the expression of NMDAR2A (epsilon 1) in hippocampus, temple cortex of AD model rat, which has been regulated by mRNA level and have cortex area difference.

To examine the phylogenetic information regarding the gene pool of AIV in domestic ducks in eastern China, the NA genes of twenty-six viruses isolated during 2002-2006, including two H1N1 strains, tenH3N1 strains and fourteen HSN1 strains, which reflected the predominant N1 subtype viruses were subjected to phylogenetic analysis. The results indicated that AIVs of N1 subtype circulating in domestic ducks in eastern China were undergoing a gradual evolution. Analysis of the deduced amino acid sequences revealed that NAs from all isolated H5N1 viruses had a 20-aa deletion in the stalk region (residues 49-68), whereas no deletion was seen in the NAs from other HA subtype viruses. The viruses of H3N1 and H1N1 might have a propensity for reassortment of NA genes, whereas no direct evidence of reassortment of NA gene was obtained in H5N1 viruses.

Objective To provide the skin vessels morphologie basis for perforating flap of the antero- lateral thigh(ALT).Methods Six sides lower limbs of adult fresh cadaver specimens perfused with lead oxide-gelatine mixture were used.Observe the peraforators of anterolateral thigh by dissection.The elevated tissue was radiographed by X-ray and MSCT-scanning.Computer techniques was used for the detection and 3D-reconstruction of the regions of each perforators of ALT flap.Results The three-dimensional recostruct- ed digitized visible models perfectly displayed the anatomic structures of arteries on the anterolateral thigh, and,the morphology and distribution of the vascular territory of each perforator from descending branch of LCFA was displayed in the images of 3D-visualization,their effective morphology and distribution were same, and they accord with vascular territory of radiograph.On the 2D-image of X-ray,The margins of the anatomical distribution of each perforator from descending branch of the lateral circumflex femoral artery were determined, their total areas was about 25cm?24cm.Conclusion Since the digitized image of perforator territory can accord with the morphology of anatomy,and can off vascular structure insights into cutaneous perforator anato- my,their 3D visualizative models can be applied in pre-operative designing and virtual operation procedures, and can be helped for study of perforator flap.

OBJECTIVEInadequate postnatal nutritional support is an important factor contributing to growth failure, which leads to poor neurological outcome. In this study, co-word analysis was used to investigate the research on nutrition of premature infants over the last six years in China, describe the research trend in this field in China, and provide possible directions for future research.

METHODSA literature search was performed in January 2013 using the CNKI database and the key words "preterm infant" and "nutrition". A total of 772 articles were retrieved. Then high-frequency key words were extracted using Excel 2010 to create a co-occurrence matrix. Finally, a visualized network was built using Ucinet 6.0.

RESULTSThe knowledge domain map of research on nutritional support for premature infants in China showed that the major topic of relevant research is still the combination of parenteral nutrition and enteral nutrition, with the goal of maintaining appropriate growth rates in premature infants. Researchers have paid much attention to the adverse effects of parenteral nutrition. Feeding intolerance is still the main problem in nutritional support, especially enteral nutrition, for premature infants.

CONCLUSIONSA visualized network of current research on nutrition of premature infants in China has been created, and a knowledge domain map has been drawn to reflect the hot topics in this field of study over the last six years.

OBJECTIVETo examine cytokeratin 18(CK18) and it's gene in jaw odontogenic keratocyst (OKC) epithelial lining.

METHODSThe epithelial linings of 32 cases were subject to monoclonal antibody immunohistochemical staining for CK18, CK8 and CK19. RT-PCR and in situ hybridization for CK18 mRNA were conducted in 12 of 32 cases in keratocyst epithelial cell linings.

RESULTSIn 17 cases, CK18 were observed in keratinized surface layers, though weakly positive. In 27 cases, CK18 were positive in the granular cell layers. CK18 were also positive in the spinous cell layers in 14 cases. In all cases, CK18 was negative in basal cell layers. By RT-PCR, 4 cases expressed CK18 strongly, 8 cases weakly. By in situ hybridization, 8 cases expressed CK18 mRNA positively in both spinous and granular cell layers, and 4 cases positively in basal and keratinized cell layers. CK8 were expressed in basal cell layers of keratocyst epithelial linings. In 23 cases, CK19 were expressed in surface cell layers of keratocyst epithelial linings.

CONCLUSIONThe expression of CK18 in keratocyst epithelial linings transfers from basal cell layer to spinous layer. The expression of CK18 immunohistochemical staining and CK18 mRNA in situ hybridization are different, which shows CK18 might be related to proliferation of OKC epithelial linings. That suggests the existence of regulation of CK18 and CK18 mRNA expression.

OBJECTIVETo identify the characteristics of the sexual networks and HIV/AIDS related high-risk behaviors among MSM in Harbin city, and to evaluate the possibility of HIV transmission among MSM and from MSM to general population.

METHODSA face to face questionnaire investigation was conducted among 673 MSM aged above 18 years older from May to July, 2006 in Harbin, Heilongjiang province. The Key-informant sampling and time-location sampling methods were used at different sites to recruit objectives, including bars, bathrooms, parks and social networks.Mixing matrices were computed based on the demographic characteristics of MSM and their sexual partners. Sexual networks analysis by egocentric methods, such as network size, density and sexual mixing patterns.

RESULTSA total of 647 questionnaires were completed. The number of them recruited from bars, bathrooms, parks and social networks were 229, 291, 36 and 91. The average size of sexual networks was 14 persons, the least network density was 0.14. The proportion of having sexual relationship in the past year was 30.5% (647/2123). Of which recruited at bars, bathrooms, parks and social networks, the proportions of having long-term relationship with their sex partners were 22.8% (159/699), 35.9% (329/917), 26.4% (28/106) and 32.7% (131/401), respectively. There was statistical significance in MSM having sexual relationship with their partners at different recruited places (chi(2) = 34.07, P < 0.01). Sexual networks of MSM from public bathroom was larger with an average number of 18. Only 35.9% (329/917) of them had long-term relationship with their sex partners. A tendency for age and marriage pairing to cluster around main diagonal suggesting that MSM were similar to choosing sexual partners in the respect of age and marriage status. The proportions of consistent condom use in the past 6 months were 40.9% (647/2123).

CONCLUSIONMSM from different sites have greatly different sexual networks characteristics. Sexual mixing patterns are weakly assertive in the MSM and potential of HIV spread among MSM exists.

This study is to screen 23 blank O/W type microemulsion (ME) samples, that is 15 samples from our laboratory, and 8 samples from literature; compare the conductivity-water content curve (CWCC) method and visual method in determining the critical water content during O/W type MEs' formation, to analyze the deficiency and the feasibility of visual method and to exploxe scientific meanings of CWCC method in judging the critical water content of O/W type MEs during formation. The results show that there is a significant difference between the theoretical feasible CWCC method and visual method in determining the critical water content (P<0.001), and the results judged by conductivity is higher than that by eye-based water content. Therefore, this article firmly confirmed the shortcomings of visual method and suggested that the eye-base "critical water content" may falls into continuous ME stage during O/W MEs' formation. Further more, the CWCC method has theoretical feasibility and scientific meanings in determining the critical water content of O/W type MEs during formation.

OBJECTIVETo study the patterns of sexual contact and behavioral features of men who have sex with men (MSM) and to analyze the related potential risks:

METHODSA face to face interview with a standardized questionnaire was conducted on 673 MSM from May to July, 2006 in Haerbin, Heilongjiang province. Mixing matrices were computed based on characteristics of MSM and their sexual partners and different models were used for goodness-of-fit.

RESULTS648 questionnaires were completed. Age and marriage status of sexual contact patterns were assertive with values of Q which were found to be 0.03 and 0.41, respectively. Values of Q showed big difference according to age and marriage status of sexual mixing Patterns among different sites. A tendency for age and marriage pairing in clustering around main diagonal (table 5, table 6) suggested that MSM and their partners were similar in ages and marriages while young MSM tend to have older partners. Most of the MSM had large number of sexual partners and frequently changing their sexual partners. The proportions of consistent condom use changed greatly (chi2 = 76.22, P < 0.001) over time with the proportions of consistent condom use and commercial sex behaviors among 15-24 age groups of 50.9% and 22.5%, respectively.

CONCLUSIONAmong MSM, sexual mixing patterns were weakly assertive,suggesting potential HIV transmission risk did exist since high risk behavior often occurred among MSM and their sexual partners.

OBJECTIVETo screen the sensitive chemotherapeutic agents to human endometrial carcinoma cell line-1 (HECCL-1) and study its mechanism.

METHODSMTT method was used to examine the relative inhibition ratios (RIRs) of various concentrations of 18 chemotherapeutic agents to HECCL-1. Cell cycle, apoptosis and expression of MDR1 protein were detected by FCM.

RESULTSNine of the chemotherapeutic agents studied obviously inhibited the proliferative activity of HECCL-1 in a dose-dependent manner. The order of sensitivity was as follows: adriamycin (ADM), oxaliplatin (L-OHP), carboplatin (CBP), cisplatin (DDP), taxol (TAL), epirubicin (EPI), mitoxantrone (MIT), dactomycin (ACTD) and 5-fluorouracil (5-Fu). FCM showed these agents could significantly reduce the proportion of cells in G0-G1 phase, and increase the proportion of cells in S and G2-M phase (P < 0.05). Cell apoptosis was observed in 11 chemotherapeutic agents at their peak concentration. MDR expression was induced after using EPI, 5-Fu, hydroxycamptothecin (HCPT) and MIT.

CONCLUSIONHECCL-1 is sensitive to a number of the chemotherapeutic agents studied. Induced apoptosis may be the major mechanism of drug sensitivity, and acquired drug-resistance may be the critical reason against continued administration.
