Objective To investigate the accuracy and availability of three‐dimensional ultrasonography ( 3DUS ) in the Bismuth‐Corlette classification of hilar cholangiocarcinoma ( HCCA ) . Methods Forty‐eight patients who underwent surgery and obtained pathologic diagnosis of HCCA were retrospectively analyzed . All patients underwent 3DUS and magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) before surgery . With surgical outcomes as the gold standard ,the diagnostic efficacy of two examinations in classification of HCCA were compared . Results Forty‐eight cases of HCCA were divided into 5 types according to surgical results ,including type Ⅰ (8 cases) ,type Ⅱ(13 cases) ,Ⅲa(8 cases) ,Ⅲb (11 cases) and type Ⅳ(8 cases) respectively . Among them ,39 cases accepted radical resection and the rest of 9 cases received palliative resection . The accuracy of the Bismuth classification confirmed by 3DUS was 85 .4% (41/48) . The percentage of underestimated and overestimated classification confirmed by 3DUS were 10 .4% (5/48) and 4 .2% (2/48) respectively . The accuracy of the classification confirmed by MRCP was 87 .4% (42/48) .Both of the percentage of underestimated and overestimated classification confirmed by MRCP were samely 6 .3% (3/48) .The difference between the 3DUS and MRCP was not statistically significant(χ2 =0 .597 ,P=0 .440) . Both the percentage of underestimated and overestimated classification between 3DUS and MRCP were samely not statistically significant ( P =0 .714 , P =1 .000 ,respectively) . Conclusions As a new diagnostic technique ,3DUS was feasible and had significant value in evaluating HCCA classification comparable to MRCP .

Objectives To investigate the correlation between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) in interleu-kin-15 (IL-15) and treatment response in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Methods Genomic DNA samples extracted from remission bone marrow cells of ALL patients were genotyped by MassArray. Five SNPs (rs10519612, rs10519613, rs17007695, rs17015014 and rs35964658) in IL-15 and their association to minimal residual disease (MRD) status in the end of induction therapy were studied. Results SNP rs17007695 was associated with the early response in children with ALL(P=0.049) and the incidence of positive MRD after induction therapy in CC genotype carriers was 1.8 times more than that in TT genotype carriers. Haplotype analysis of these five SNPs showed that the frequency of haplotype CACGG in MRD positive group was 2.1 times higher than that in MRD negative group (P=0.035). Conclusions IL-15 gene polymorphism was associated with the early treatment response in Han Chinese children with acute lymphoblastic leuke-mia.

Objective To study the association between serum concentrations of total testosterone levels and coronary heart disease (CHD) in the postmenopausal women. Methods The study was designed as a case-control study.394 postmenopausal female patients were selected from Cardiology Center of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University. The case group included 183 women patients with CHD aged (62.7±8.0) years, the control group,211 women with normal coronary aged (60.0 ± 8.8) years. Blood samples were collected to determine total testosterone, fasting glucose and lipid profile. CHD severity was expressed as the numbers of coronary arteries that had a stenosis ≥50%.According to the level of testosteron, all cases were divided into 4 groups by interquartile range method:Q1<3.5 nmol/L(n=190),3.5 nmol/L≤Q2 <10.4 nmol/L(n=64),10.4 nmol/L≤Q3 <26.0 nmol/L(n=120) and Q4≥26.0 nmol/L(n=20).The association between the serum total testosterone levels and severity of coronary atherosclerosis was analyzed. Results The average total testosterone was higher in case group than in control group[(10.4 ± 24.3 ) nmol/L vs. ( 6.9 ± 17.4 ) nmol/L,Z =0.79,P =0.555].In Quantitative adjusted models, higher levels of total testosterone had strong correlation with CHD,Q4 incidence of CHD (75.0%,15 cases) was significantly higher than Q1 (46.8%,89 cases),Q2 (40.6%,26 cases)and Q3 (44.2%,53 cases) (x2 =7.69,P=0.048).After adjustment for other risk factors, women in the top quartile of total testosterone levels had a more than 3-fold increase in odds of CHD(OR=3.47,95%CI:1.06-11.32,P<0.05).In addition, the serum concentrations of total testosterone level were significantly associated with the severity of CHD (F=12.94,P<0.05). Conclusions Higher levels of total testosterone may be associated with high prevalence and severity of CHD as an independent factor in postmenopausal women.

Objective To explore the changes in cardiac index and oxygenation index in sepsis piglets after nitric oxide (NO) gas inhalation. Methods A piglet model of sepsis was induced by intravenous infusion of Gram-negative bacterial endotoxin (LPS), then the piglets were randomly divided into two groups. NO group (n=8) was administered with inhaled nitric oxide of 80ppm via volume control (VC) mechanical ventilation for one hour, while the control group (n = 4) received mechanical ventilation with VC and was observed for one hour to assess the stability of the model. The parameters of oxygenation and hemodynamics were measured by PICCO and arterial blood gas analysis every fifteen minutes for one hour. Results Injection of endotoxin induced a stable pig model of sepsis. PH, HCO3-, arterial oxygen pressure (PaO2), mean arterial pressure (MAP) and cardiac index in this model were significantly lower the baseline values (P < 0.01). Arterial oxygen pressure and cardiac index were significantly higher in N0 group than in the control group (P<0.01). Heart rate (HR), central venous pressure (CVP), global end-diastolic volume index (GEDI) and intrathoracic blood volume index (ITBI) did not significantly differ between NO group and the control group. Conclusions Inhalation of nitric oxide gas can significantly improve oxygenation and cardiac function in piglets with sepsis.
